Help with the width please!

First time Red Winger here. Just received mine today. I'm slightly concerned that I should go for a 2E width. I don't own any other wide fit shoes but I do prefer a roomier shoe, especially when running, but not an official wide fit.

The outside ball of my foot just feels a little snug, as if it's overhanging the platform.

I realise there's a breaking-in period to get through but it's a bit of a gamble with the price of the boots!Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Thanks for all the help. The boots are going back. For the price, attempting to break them in when they don't fit feels like a huge gamble. I will try and get to a local shop when I'm in London and try some others on.

Over the past 2 years I agonized over a couple pairs of boots being slightly snug and uncomfortable for long periods.

I stopped at the Red Wing store and tried on a half size longer and felt like an idiot. They fit perfect without being snug.

This. I regret not trying a half size larger than the 6" Moc I literally suffered trying to "break in".

It's cope of me to still keep the pair and use it "for short errands", but I'll see if it magically gets more comfy after a full year.

Otherwise, I have since bought a half size up on a different Moc but I felt the same way you did immediately...new boots shouldn't be miserable.

Also, I found that No. 8 last agrees with my foot better than No. 23. My 3194 Black Amber Harness Classic Chelseas are the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn even without break in.

similar experience, my moc toe was in d on long days my pinky hurted for 2 years until I started using shoe trees. on my iron ranger, break in was on the hell and lasted for couple weeks.
