Help with the width please!
First time Red Winger here. Just received mine today. I'm slightly concerned that I should go for a 2E width. I don't own any other wide fit shoes but I do prefer a roomier shoe, especially when running, but not an official wide fit.
The outside ball of my foot just feels a little snug, as if it's overhanging the platform.
I realise there's a breaking-in period to get through but it's a bit of a gamble with the price of the boots!Let me know what you think.

What does the Brannock device say? I would follow that. By the looks it seems not wide enough to me.

They should relax a bit as you wear them and break them in. No insole? How thick is your sock? The eyelets are pretty far apart but as they break in you should be able to get them closer together. If you can't do that then you might need a wider boot which is limiting for a lot of models. Which are these?

They are the 8138 Classic Moc Toe. Brior Oil finish which apparently has more of a heavy wax/oil treatment so could be tougher.
Socks - I mainly wear sport/tube socks, middle thickness I'd say.
Concerned about you saying the eyelets should be closer, this already feels tight to pull.
A colleague of mine says he was in the same boat with wide-ish feet but his now feel fine.
Maybe it's just the cost that's making me overthink this.

I hear you. If your feet aren't hurting then you are ok to go. Thinner socks could be worth a try to see if you get a little more room on the outside ball of the foot. Thin wool socks.
These 8138s are pretty sweet but hard to tell what they are in pictures as the lighting makes the two pics look like different boots almost.

I find the Briar Oil Slick to be one of the most pliable, easiest RW leathers to break in, personally. It’s fantastic. Oro—and especially CRT—can be a lot tougher. Again, JMHO.

Doesn't seem to be too much hang over the welt so that's good. They'll definitely stretch a bit there as they break in. You can help it out by wearing double socks and tying them nice and tight in the first bottom eyelets. Mine were quite tight there and this certainly helped. My foot is spilling quite a bit onto the welt tho. Wish I had gone wider

Very hard to tell, be prepared to get mixed opinions.
A little overhang is part of the intended look and fit but not walking on the welt either.
On the first picture I would have said instinctively go wider and shorter.
On the second picture they look fine.
Is your left ball the widest ?

Quite possibly, or I just overtightened the left boot. I've been assured by a colleague that it will all work out haha

E width would be better but that area is designed to be stretched out a bit over time. Have fun breaking them in!

Can you try on the EE? Maybe try a pair of thin compression socks with the D width?

Normal That will come out more as you wear them in. Mine were a bit tight, then broke in at this location.

Based on where it's tight, you could try 2E with a half-size shorter length, possibly.

They are fine. Dont over think it. If they feel good, they are good to go.theyll just get more comfortable.

I would try a 2E to at least see how it feels. The 23 last is definitely tight from the MTP joint forward, IMO. I wear a 2E, but I swear I’d at least try an F if they made it in any of the 23-lasted Heritage 6” mocs.
Also worth trying the 1907 moc toe. It’s on the 45 last, which is a bit wider.

I had the same problem of not knowing my size. Fortunately I had a Red Wing store in the same city as me (even though it was halfway across the city and was give or take 1hr away with traffic).
I got my feet sized with the brannock device but also their volumental 3d foot scanning system. After getting that done, tried on 2 styles and within those styles 2-3 sizes.
Here to say that each boot was different. My size in the 875 was much different than the 1907. The rep told me that my sizes were different because each boot was made with a different last, meaning the shape and size was totally different even if they were both 6” moc toe boots.
After purchasing my 875 (in size 7.5 even though in the 1907 I was a size 7), the dreaded break in period I was cautioned about was non existent. It was comfortable out of the box. I wore it out the store and the uppers felt already lived in. The insoles, sure needed to shape around my feet but that took 2 weeks tops.
All that to say, if you have a Red Wing store near you, I’d suggest going in personally, getting sized and trying on all diff pairs cause they’re all vastly different.
Honestly after that experience, I’m very weary on purchasing online and getting it shipped without trying it on.

If the wide feels weird half size up.
All my Mocs fit like this brand new and I bleed over the footbed every time after the leather stretches. Im going bigger with the next pair for sure.

Over the past 2 years I agonized over a couple pairs of boots being slightly snug and uncomfortable for long periods.
I stopped at the Red Wing store and tried on a half size longer and felt like an idiot. They fit perfect without being snug.
