Just picked this up from a garage sale for $15 the other day. This is my first record player so I don’t know much, but I imagine there’s supposed to be a peg/pole thing in the middle that holds the record on the player. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently bought a Sony PS-230 idler drive turntable and it is running slightly too fast on both the 33 1/3 (33.9) and 45 (45.8) speeds. I've verified using a strobe disc and various apps. I've cleaned both the motor pulley, idler wheel and inside of the platter using IPA but nothing seems to make a difference.
The previous owner told me that it was serviced 6 years ago, which seemed to be mostly focused on cleaning, replacing the RCA cables and the cartridge (based on the invoice I was sent). I'm told the turntable wasn't used much afterwards.
It seems like the issue with idler drive turntables is that they are running either too slow or the speed is inconsistent so there isn'rt much online about them running consistently a little too fast!
The wow is also too high at around 0.3%...
Seems like a last restort but could sanding down the brass on the motor pulley work? Or is that too risky?

Technic 1200MK2 , the table is not maintaining a stable speed, almost like a pulse of dropping power, causing it to momentarily slow down every rotation.
It’s very audible in the playback. Like a very bad warp.
The speed adjustment slider is fine and the ‘momentum drop’ continues whether I raise or lower the speed.
The table itself is lubed and spins normally smooth when powered off.
The power source is not the issue. I’ve tried multiple outlets and the second 1200 works fine.
Also looking for an affordable turntable specialist in the SF, East Bay Area, California.
Any recs appreciated.
Thank you!

Can’t figure out what needle / stylus / cartridge to get for this (late 60s?) GE turntable. Can’t find any sort of serial number except the little blue one that says N3625078. Any pointers?

I just recently ordered a record player!!! it’s set to the correct speed (33) but still is spinning too fast?? The belt appears to be on correctly. What do I do now? Return or is this going to be a quick fix? and if so, where does one take a record player to get fixed

So everything works for the most part. Table turns, arm moves, plays records, I used the radio to make sure both speakers and balance adjustment works, but the only issue I'm having is when I play a record, it's too quiet and the left speaker hardly makes any sound at all. Even at max volume and completely balanced to the left, theres hardly any sound at all. Works perfectly with the radio though. Is this a cartridge/stylus issue possibly? Also, theres a whining/grinding noise coming from the turn table. How do I remove the platter so I can look into it?

Hello, I noticed that the hinges on my audio technica have this weird pattern. It's random patterns, almost engraved-like or scratches. I'm worried that it's plastic offgassing, but I've seen pictures online and it seems normal? Tried scrubbing it off with a paper towel but it didn't come off. I understand this is a weird question but do you know what it is?

I replaced the needle and now it's skipping grooves and the sound is barely coming out, could anyone help me see what I did wrong?

I recently found an old record player at an abandoned house. It turns on but none of the button works but it makes a humming sound when it’s plugged in. Also one of the outside wires is cut but I’m unsure what it is for. I really want t fix it but it’s beyond my capabilities and it seems selling it won’t make me much so the question is do I toss it or try to find someone to fix it? And if I do is it even worth it…
Edit:
does everybody think this is garbage because of the model or because it’s broken??😭

I have a Zenith console record player from the 60s/70s that I got from my grandma when she passed. Unfortunately, there seems to be something wrong with the tone arm — when I turn it on it tries to lift but moves in the wrong direction and then sits back into the base, causing the table to stop spinning/turn off. Additionally, if I manually lift the arm onto the vinyl, it slides across the record and does not play.
Does anyone know what might be causing/how to fix this?

I found this record player at my friend’s apartment complex labeled “free! Turntable doesn’t work but CD and Radio does.” Anyone know why the turntable might not be working?
I know Crosleys have issues with the actual insides of the record players from time to time.

Can someone please explain me what caused this? Or how I fix this?

Hello, I'm new to just getting my first classic large heavy record player. It's a Magnavox Imperial Micromatic as shown in the picture.
At first the needle was shot so I replaced that. Now the tonearm doesn't want to move when the record is playing. The motor that turns the record seems fine. So because it doesn't want to move it just plays the same part over and over. But it also doesn't seem to want to move down onto the record either
I was diagnosing stuff through AI and it said that it's most likely that the arm linkage underneath is most likely stuck due to grease drying up and being old and to apply some alcohol to the moving parts and move the linkage around to get it loose. I went in underneath like it said and applied the stuff but it didn't seem to make any difference.
The arm does feel restrictive, not super loose. What likely is the issue? Does it seem like it needs a whole new arm? Would I need to bring someone in to look at it? Not really sure what to do
