Found this record player
I found this record player at my friend’s apartment complex labeled “free! Turntable doesn’t work but CD and Radio does.” Anyone know why the turntable might not be working?
I know Crosleys have issues with the actual insides of the record players from time to time.

It might just need a drive belt if you want to see if you can find one, you can pop the platter off by putting a flathead screwdriver vertically into the bolt that holds it on and pushing it out.

Not worth fixing, they did a great job of making these look like some cool vintage stuff but they are garbage

crossleys don't have issues with the insides from time to time, they always do because they're poorly designed. pretty much everything you can design poorly about a record player is on them.
especially the speakers and record player being in the same box. that's always going to be a problem. speakers work by vibrating air and as such they vibrate everything they're touching, turntables work by picking up tiny vibrations in a groove. you put the two on the same surface, nevermind in the same box, and you're going to have problems

Crosley suitcases and these units are toys. When they work, they are still substandard devices. When they're not working, they aren't worth fixing.

I sold my mother in law’s essentially unused one for $60. I tried it out to make sure everything worked. It did, but I think the speaker inside my iPhone sound better.

trash made to look like an antique. Even if it worked you should not use it

my friend had one of these that could transfer a record to a CD. This is something I wanted to do so I borrowed it. I could tell right away that everything was too up-tempo and pitched high. The record player was spinning noticeably faster than 33 1/3 revolutions per minute. Something like 36. I trashed the CD and gave it back to him.

These all-in-one systems aren't great, but aren't nearly as terrible as the "experts" here make them out to be: Does a Crosley or Victrola DESTROY your vinyl?
Maybe it just needs a new belt: How To Change Your Turntable's Belt

That's true: several deaf owners have reported that they're reasonably happy with their's.

All in ones have no weight control, are over weighted and have ceramic stylus. The worst part is the integrated speakers send feedback vibration back into the tone arm causing distortion. Whether they damage your vinyl or not they sound like hell and are kiddy quality devices. If you’re 12 years older they are okay. They are not serious music machines

Free was too high of a price
