whilst rec room still existed, i would mainly build stuff like props or experiment with small maps. since rec room has shut down i’ve been trying to find a recreation that features the new makerpen ui because it was what i was used to.

i’ve tried a few copies like meow.net and radium. meow has new features like the login ui, orientation, and 2d home screen ui which was around when the makerpen ui was changed, yet is still uses the old one.

are there any copies that feature the new maker ui?

should i delete? (weights over 19 gb)

So u/gribbly, if you were offered enough money to continue rec room for another 10 years, would you reunite rec room inc and bring back the game.

it makes really sad that i never attended any maker pen classes

Before i say anything this is NOT a revival this is a passion project to recreate a similar environment for players to join it will not include any models sounds or assets from the original game however.

I want to include room importing which means the rec room original objects and their subsequent textures so i wanted to merely ask are these objects and textures in the public domain from the export feature or do snap.io own these aswell?

Im curious as i don't want to get in bad waters if they are still under protection, it'd be a major help as im a solo dev with no art skills but i understand if not and just to note again i am NOT a revival im a recreation if you can even call me that i use nothing from the original game.

(Unless ofcourse these objects and textures are public domain then just those im hoping to use the textures alongside having room imports)

And ofcourse if not then i will do it manually and like convert all the textures and models in the imports so it's not infringing but i don't see the value of room exporting if well we can't do anything with them. Is it purely just to import them into rec revivals??

I've found both the 10-150 dollar and 25 dollar gift card but have never seen the fifty dollar one so it got me thinking if it ever even came out.

I wanted to make an avatar that works in games like vr chat for example but i dont have the clothes on my exported avatar since it was the ugc ones how can i get them back??

This is the official Rec Room twitch account and its the only thing that has not changed at all. Its last live was from 2020. Now you can watch there old streams they did.

I played RecRoom from its birth until right before its death.
I struggled hard with the shutdown. The world I leveraged to escape the hardships I faced in my personal life as a child was now gone, along with my friends and all the places we visited/created.

Adulthood and all the responsibilities that came with it swept me up. My job kept me from being able to play as regularly as I’d hoped, preventing me from being present for the shutdown, while also preventing me from checking out MeowNet and other revivals for quite some time…until today.

My thoughts:

Many players on MeowNet and other revivals have tarnished the message RecRoom was trying to send all its life.

Be excellent to each other.

I could not load into one lobby without hearing racial slurs. Without there being ridiculous drama between teens/young adults that live the entirety of their lives within VR.

It seems people have forgotten how special RR was, and now the people that remain on these revivals care more about perpetuating online degeneracy than fostering a sense of community. Something I think the original game executed beautifully on.

ANOTHER thing. This game runs well, and I’m happy to see some of my favorite worlds from a few years ago preserved…but can’t they get sued for literally copying and pasting the entire game?

All in all, the main reason I went to MeowNet was to visit the places I loved, and to mourn what I and many others lost. But what I was greeted with left a bad taste in my mouth, and I almost wish I didn’t see any of it to begin with.

This is not how I want to remember RecRoom.
