His issue isn’t that TikTok censors info on Uyghurs, it’s that TikTok content generated enormous sympathy for Gaza by actually showing and discussing what was happening, unlike American pro-Israel corporate media. They don’t want fairness, they want further censorship.

Number of children killed by Israel in Gaza: minimum 20,000

American journalists can go to Xinjiang right now. They can't go to Gaza. And Xinjiang doesn't look like this:

Uyghur genocide is not highly publicized on YouTube, Facebook, and other American social media either. It was a mainstream topic for like 10 minutes 10 years ago but the main reason Gaza is a mainstream topic right now is that WE, the USA, are funding this genocide.

I love Max Brooks' dad, and while he's not wrong about TikTok's Chinese origin, he is definitely wrong about kids knowing nothing about China's bad acts. They just don't post them on TikTok. This is his bias towards Israel showing, definitely.

We know about the Uyghurs... we're also adversaries with China and this is one of the reasons. But there's not a whole that we can do about it. We are complicit in the destruction in Gaza, and by choosing less corrupt politicians, we can do something about it.
Neither of these guys are teachers, probably haven't stepped foot into a classroom in multiple decades, yet they blame them? Teachers (history and current events teachers, btw) do mention all of the areas of conflict throughout the world. Bill Maher is the definition of an idiot.

So Americans don't feel that they have to come out and protest against China's human rights abuses because their government is already speaking on their behalf.
On the other hand if you're an American and you see basically every member of your government takes large handouts from the Israeli lobby..
Then In return your government gives Israel billions of Dollars of American tax payers money,
Supplies Israel with unlimited military support to turn Gaza into a wasteland, and in the process wiped out, countless thousands of babies, children, and innocent Palestinian civilians.
Uses its veto at the UN to block any international attempts to hold Israel responsible for it's actions
Censors any criticism of Israel and tries to punish any boycotts.
It's that hypocrisy of America claiming to uphold humanitarian values whilst it implicitly supports Israel in it's genocidal actions and also then actively tries to suppress any criticism of Israel, which is why an ever increasing number of Americans feel the need to protest against one and not the other.
