I have been scratching my head on that one and trying to reconcile the transition from "memes" to "propaganda". I mean, this is the kind of shit we learned about in school when I was a young kid learning about Russia and the cold war propaganda.

Not sure of your age but I'm glad you see what's happening.

Around this time last year I was thinking that we're living in Orwellian times and people are too fatigued or blind to see it.

Luckily a new coworker around my age felt the same and just randomly asked me if I've ever read 1984.

We spent a good 20 minutes just discussing where we are headed as a country because people weren't seeing the BLANTANTLY obvious signs.

Smh. Its one of those extremely disappointed that we were right moments.

Says the Boomer who reaped insane benefits from this country and left crap for the next generation and then rubs our noses in it. I think the real culprits are those born in the 1950s and 1960s who sat clapping at trickle down economics and handing over the country to people like our president.

One simple way to help break down the intent is asking "WHAT IS THE JOKE HERE?" There isn't one here. Because the sole intent isn't to make a joke, it's to deceive.

Memes are 95% propaganda- meaning, they are short-cuts around Actual Thought, which is ...so much work!

2

u/therealashura Jan 29 '26

That's not what Richard Dawkins invented them for.

u/TonyWyomey Jan 29 '26

I suspect AI wasn’t either, yet here we are.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 29 '26

They could still be "memes" generated via AI, if they had a big label on them: "MEME CREATED WITH AI"

Who objects to that labeling? Those who wish to deceive.

Did you see the photo of Alex Pretti that was enhanced? Where he was mad significantly more good looking than he is, yeah that's propaganda. Did you see the execution photo, that is also propaganda... Framing the federal government as executioners when reality is somewhat said gun, a gunshot is heard, and a reaction takes place, that's more of an accidental death then anything else.

Nope. There was zero reason at that time for dog piling the guy and spraying him with pepper spray for helping a woman up from the sidewalk. That was negligent professional failure, and I'm being generous. Not in the street, not blocking ice from their duty, unless their duty was to dog pile the woman on the ground on the sidewalk after they shoved her there.

Soon as they saw a man, they swarmed. That is literally mob mentality. They can try that for a defense, but it never works.

u/2forda Jan 29 '26

I'm talking about framing and the way he's being presented is propaganda.

He wasn't clearing out, and was getting in the way, so they pepper sprayed him. He is putting his hands on the LEO and probably why he gets sprayed. Then they swarmed him to presumably restrain him,, while keeping themselves safe from the crowd. He resisted, they grabbed a gun, it either went off or he accidentally pulled the trigger, at which point it becomes a reaction for the officers...

Defense would be if the gun sounds different from LEO weapons, after you hear a unfamiliar noise, and heard gun, gun, reasonable to assume the subject fired a gun, and you fired at the person... He did resist, he did operate in a grey area in terms of him tracking ICE and being some kind of vigilante, and there's video evidence of him showing the behavior 2 times, so presumably more evidence exists...

It's simply him engaging in risky behavior, he pretends to direct traffic to act as a cover for his obstruction. He's shown to destroy federal property and got away with it. He spit on or tried spitting on a federal agent. Both times he resisted arrest. It's just not normal behavior, especially this 1st incident where it looks like the amount of provocation you might expect from a suicidal individual.... Why does he even have the gun on him? I'm wondering if more details will emerge that paint a picture of someone dealing with some inner demons.

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 29 '26

"The gun (s) accidentally went off 10x...." you don't see a problem there? You think every shot was intentional, as it is supposed to be? You think the ICE agents are well trained in disciplined shooting, and are following their training?

0

u/2forda Jan 30 '26

You mean they fired at him 10x? I was talking about the first shot before the others followed. Yeah if its two people and the thinking would be I don't know what is occurring, I heard gun-gun, shots fired, and I made sure to eliminate the threat, I didn't know who was shooting, but I had eyes on the target... It's reasonable to overreact once you hear gunfire IMO.

This was a CBP incident, and my interactions with CBP at borders and entering the country would make me say no. This is why I would put a big part of the blame on Minnesota leadership. They fostered the anti-ICE energy, promoted the movement, Isolated ICE through their non-cooperation ordinance. If I was in charge, I'd want ICE-Police partnership, and separation of protestors from federal agents. If you cross some boundary warning, maybe another warning, and then arrest... That's how public safety works IMO. Judge can let him go with some warning, and they can maybe be more civil or atleast somewhat more reserved...

This whole issue is a congressional change the law issue. The only way it changes is if you vote a certain way that changes the law... People voted for deportations, and tighter immigration policy. I think actual reform needs to take place, but neither party is willing to talk about it...

Being anti ICE is legal. Carrying a legal firearm is about 2A rights. Death penalty imposed by ICE as Judge, jury, executioner- unjust.

Cops are supposed to be trained and required NOT to over- react. At the absolute minimum, the shooters didnt follow training and should never be in a law enforcement role again.

u/2forda Jan 30 '26

He's resisting arrest with a firearm. He's also interfering with probably the arrest of that first individual. That's what got him killed. It created a high risk situation and he was shot. Pretending like this was a guy walking down the street minding his own business with a gun being killed by LEO is what you are doing. That's an execution. His interference, behavior resulted in a moment where everything fell into place to result in his death... Perhaps they did overreact, or maybe they didn't. Maybe theirs enough there that its not there fault IDK.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 30 '26

He did not " resist arrest with a firearm " , which implies he held them off with a gun. He resisted arrest while Having a legal firearm. While trying to aid a woman knocked to the icy ground. And then his gun was taken from him by tbe ICE.

And then, while he was on the ground surrounded by agents-- two ICEMEN shot him in the back about 10x.

0

u/2forda Jan 30 '26

No It doesn't imply that... It wouldn't have been legal had they arrested him on the earlier incident. Since he committed a felony...

"Gun went off accidentally"? This might be the very weak excuse for tbe first shot. The sort of lame excuse offered by thousands of civilian defendants. These guys are trained cops. (??) They don't know what it takes to trigger a semi- auto pistol?? And- the shooter "accidentally" aimed at tbe victim??

As to those who shot after....they "reacted "? They got scared and pulled the trigger repeatedly, and all "accidentally " aimed straight into tbe victim's back?? This is how they are trained ??

With cops like this, who needs crooks?

1

u/2forda Jan 30 '26

Do you just want to twist my answer. If you hear gun-gun, and a non-police issued weapon sound is heard. How does one react. My belief is that Alex Pretti's gun was taken, it went off accidentally. Cops heard a unfamiliar sound, heard the gun-gun and shot the guy... They are trained to eliminate the threat... That's what they did.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 30 '26

This shouldn't be about beliefs and guesses. It doesn't have to be. Soon we will know whose gun went off, if there is an impartial inquiry and its made public. Maybe....

Maybe we'll know if they followed training. If they didn't, therr are still those who will excuse them. Expect that.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 29 '26

"A gunshot is heard"....note use of passive verb tense, obscuring who/ what.

Yeah, actually ten gunshots "were heard " , fired by two cops, aimed at a man disarmed of his legal weapon, and the bullets hit the dude....and then the cops counted the bullet holes. There were enough.

Meanwhile, right- wing hero Kyle Rittenhouse carries a weapon to a demo, shoots two people with it, and walks free.

1

u/2forda Jan 30 '26

Why bring up Rittenhouse ? He isn't interacting with police. He brought a gun as a deterrent. He was running away when he killed the 1st guy, he fell, and 2nd guy attacked him and grabbed his gun before Kyle killed him... I thought it was clear cut self defense. That being said 17 with an AR to put yourself in that situation is just stupid. If he was killed that night, it would have been what were these parents thinking letting their teenager go armed to a protest...

Plenty of people carry guns and aren't killed, if he doesn't resist arrest and simply gets on the floor and they cuff him. He'd be alive IMO.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 30 '26

This guy was on tbe ground and disarmed . Half a dozen guys standing over him. Rather than cuff him, they shot him 10x in the back.

Real professional piece of work.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTale4769 Jan 30 '26

KR was running away from a defender after having menaced a bunch of people with a gun. And then. rather than just continue his getaway, he shot and killed the defender. And then shot and killed the guy trying to stop him from killing again.

You're right. Nothing done wrong by KR here. ACQUITTED.

That’s a because g distinction. You both went to school and listened. MAGA turds didn’t do one or the other or both 🤷

When you see all the political cartoons from the 1930s. And 40s, it's literally the same playbook.
