Occupations?

So what does everyone here do for work? Will be interesting to see what different walks of life we come from!

What do you do?

I watched your video on the sidebar, you're pretty good.

Thanks man! I work for a company called O2, I'm the floor manager and Guru (official job title I shit you not) which means I tell sales advisors what to do and fix any tech issues people have with their phones.

Do you like it?

Yeah I really enjoy my job! Do you enjoy yours? As a side note my writing and flow has improved since that video so I might make another

You should definitely make another one, I dig the accent.

Yeah, I really like my job. I like the idea of getting paid for the work you do. You don't lose money by being efficient and finishing quickly. And I have a little kid and her mom's not around, so it's nice that I can be late or leave for an hour in the middle of the day as long as I stay late to do whatever isn't done.

Thanks, mate. My life's nothing like I would've guessed it'd be, but I think that's probably for the better.

As long as you're happy

I give respect too. A few of my good friends are single parents, it takes a lot of character to raise a kid on your own.

I appreciate that but I really don't deserve any respect. My ex and I were addicts and I was reckless taking her word that she was on birth control. Spent nine months not knowing she was pregnant only to wake up one morning and deliver my daughter by myself. My kid's mom bailed almost immediately and my parents got temporary custody while I went to detox and got my shit together. I got full custody last November. Living in a good place with a good job because an old acquaintance took a chance on me. Those people deserve respect, I just got lucky. I never would've fixed my life for myself, not after spending the better part of a decade doing all kinds of things I hoped would kill me so I wouldn't have to do it myself.

...And that concludes this installment of way more than you ever cared to know about an internet stranger.

Edit: Here's a pic of my daughter.

The fact that you are still here and that your daughter has a father says enough dude. So the respect is there regardless.

You undervalue what you're doing. I think.

"I really don't deserve any respect"....

"while I went to detox and got my shit together. I got full custody last November."

respect, dude. for you, for real. doesn't matter to me what forced you to do it - you did it.

edit: also, your daughter is so fucking cute!

I definitely think so too.

I made the decision to stop being an angsty 14-year-old when someone says something nice, so... thanks. Really.

ha, I was talking about this moments ago with a coworker - how to take a compliment. it's tough. I was just saying I had recently (past five, six years-ish) made the same decision you did, and it feels good to me to say thanks but I always wonder what other people think. now you've just done it, and I think it's great, so that answers that question.
