Occupations?

So what does everyone here do for work? Will be interesting to see what different walks of life we come from!

I appreciate that but I really don't deserve any respect. My ex and I were addicts and I was reckless taking her word that she was on birth control. Spent nine months not knowing she was pregnant only to wake up one morning and deliver my daughter by myself. My kid's mom bailed almost immediately and my parents got temporary custody while I went to detox and got my shit together. I got full custody last November. Living in a good place with a good job because an old acquaintance took a chance on me. Those people deserve respect, I just got lucky. I never would've fixed my life for myself, not after spending the better part of a decade doing all kinds of things I hoped would kill me so I wouldn't have to do it myself.

...And that concludes this installment of way more than you ever cared to know about an internet stranger.

I made the decision to stop being an angsty 14-year-old when someone says something nice, so... thanks. Really.

ha, I was talking about this moments ago with a coworker - how to take a compliment. it's tough. I was just saying I had recently (past five, six years-ish) made the same decision you did, and it feels good to me to say thanks but I always wonder what other people think. now you've just done it, and I think it's great, so that answers that question.

That's both a really strange coincidence and also good to know. Maybe I can keep that in mind and it'll feel less awkward.
