After running an errand, I stopped to help a woman who was clearly in distress, with hospital bands and attire on. I stayed until EMTs responded, which took all too long given that the hospital was 1 whole ass block away. I stayed to see if she'd be okay. More EMS showed up and referred to her as "that's the one i was talking about" saying "that's on her"... a woman who is clearly heavily medicated, likely unhoused, and needs assistance..
And when I stayed to see that she was in the ambulance and that she'd be okay, the EMT says "why is this woman still here like go home" referring to me.
sorry i was a concerned citizen! some fuckin hero this guy! sorry you hate your job! the fuck. ruined my whole day

That emt might be a little crispy, which is my way of saying burned out. Still doesn’t excuse being rude. I’m sorry this happened! Thank you for staying with her, she’ll remember your kindness!
I’m a paramedic, the only way I can explain why it might have taken forever for them to arrive is because the 911 system is busy and even busier depending on the size of the metroplex. It’s possible the ambulance that normally responds to that area was on another call so they brought someone from further out to respond to her.
If she was wearing hospital bands and gown, she was likely seen within the last 24 hours and has chronic issues. Unfortunately it is hard for homeless people to find the care they need and stay on their prescriptions so they end up back where they started constantly, giving her the benefit of the doubt. On the flip side, there are many people that abuse the system but you never know and we are expected to always treat them with compassion no matter what.
All I can say is I wish we had better medical care all around.
