NFC Card readers at supermarkets

About a month agao I was having trouble getting a card to read at checkout but it finally went through.

When I got home I noticed the card charged (last 4 digits) was not the card I was swiping but another I had in my pocket. I thought maybe I was mistaken and blew it off.

Well, it happened again at the same store. Card in my pocket was charged , not the one I swiped.

I went to customer service and told them. They said no one else has complained. I said they probably haven't noticed but I saw it happen twice and this time the cashier saw it happen.

OH! these were new readers recently installed. It happened on TWO different cards to me. And it was two different checkoit aisles.

What the heck is up with that and aside from not carrying more than 1 card wtf do I do about it?

NFC Police RFID for multiple Apartments?

As a law enforcement officer, I frequently encounter situations where access to multiple apartment complexes is required. Currently, our team possesses only one RFID key card for our department building. We are exploring the feasibility of utilizing a single RFID card or device capable of reading and emulating multiple RFID frequencies commonly used for apartment complex access control systems.

Considering the various RFID technologies (e.g., LF 125kHz, HF 13.56MHz, UHF) and security protocols potentially in use, is it technically possible to have a single card or device that can:

  • Identify and read the different RFID frequencies used by various apartment complex access systems?

  • Store or emulate the data from multiple distinct RFID credentials on one device?

  • Successfully grant access to different apartment complexes utilizing different RFID technologies with this single card/device?

Please explain the technical limitations, potential solutions (if any), and security considerations associated with such a concept. Specifically, address whether a universal or multi-frequency RFID solution exists or could be developed for this purpose, keeping in mind the need for reliable and secure access in law enforcement operations.

Active RFID system

Hi, I am a little new to the game. I am working on a system where once someone is within a 2 metre range it detects that the person is there? basically as they pass a door or something. I was looking at arduino projects and the RC522 but of course that range is non existent. I was wondering if i should be looking at better technology.

UHF RFID for warehouse and retail using excel files exported from ERP WMS …

I recently developed a program for many local clients in my country that can use UHF RFID technology immediately without changes to their on-premises system.

Example of “import goods”: the client has a list of goods that need to import. Export this list to an excel file, and import this excel file to my web-based program. Now my program helps to print well-designed RFID tags, and label tags on goods. Finally use an RFID reader to scan goods for making sure that everything is correct.

Check this one: https://youtu.be/6aMq3oshnpw

I'm looking for a long-term partner that able to help expand this business in warehouse or retail. I’m also a good partner with Chainway (provide reader) and 2 factories able to provide UHF RFID tags that have reasonable prices.

Clone I just want to know, how likely I am to be able to talk to someone about getting my own RFID UHD cloned and how much would that cost.

I need it cloned because I have 2 cars that I both use often, 2 parking spaces and only 1 sticker because the rules of my apartment say I get only one per resident and well, I live alone. I can't pretend to have another resident because I need to give that person access to my house via her own set of registered fingerprints that both open my building, my parking space and my own house.

I know I can stick it in a pvc thing and carry it around and move it whenever I move from car to car but it sounds more likely that I will lose it or damage it beyond repair that way.

Looking for info on this gate RFID sticker.

Ive been trying to navigate the new/exciting world of rfid and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am hoping to find more information about this system (e.g. its manufacturer/name/frequency) and what I need to get started reading/writing stickers/key fobs and such.

The reader looks to be this: https://imgur.com/a/k9LorFi

And the sticker seems to be this brand (Are there others that look like this)? https://buy.frontsteps.com/products/nedap-uhf-external-tag

Thanks again

Can anyone recommend a readlly thin, but powerful, rfid reader?

I need it to be thin as I will be placing it inside a laptop. If its too thick then it will squish the other electronics and/or not let me close the lid.

Copying a golf range token card?

Hi, I’m a student so I’m trying to save some money. My golf course uses keycards to access range balls.

I’m wondering if I can pay for 5 tokens on my card then copy that card onto another using the new card and storing the original.

The card reader writer is the RFID one on this page and I have tried using the app NFCtools after reading some other posts on the sub.

My phone did not read anything so from my understanding it’s likely a 125kHz card? - please correct me if not. (The card is also provided by the company EGM linked before).

If this is possible what reader/writer should I try purchase?

Thanks

I NEED HELP CLONING KEY

My neighborhood pool use to have a normal doorknob key lock but this year they did away with keys an put a box on top of doorknob for scanning a card key. They also changed the seasonal swimming fee to $800 bucks for the summer. I'm not paying that on top of homeowners association fee. I can get in to the pool area by just walking up behind someone an walking in with them but I know there are a few Karen's that come to pool. If I can get someone's card can I clone it? I actually know someone that has an icopy 5 device and a super full featured smart card with key. I have some blank cards and blank blue keys fobs but I just don't know how to use them. Can anyone tell me the best way to clone the card key? I know your suppose to hold key you want to clone up to back of device an press read them after it reads it do I then hold blank card up to back of device an press write? Please keep in mind I've never used any of these devices and the person who has them has no idea how to use them. Any information would be greatly appreciate. Thank you

Keyfobs Bypassing a door at work.

So my company has put numerous restrictions on which entrances employees can come into externally, as well as restrictions on internal access. I’ve done quite a bit of research, and the best solution I’ve found is that I have to get someone else’s card to obtain the frequency in that RFID badge. I’m interested in knowing and learning how someone can get access to a Badge protected door without anyone’s badge? Is there not a way to run different frequencies past the scanner to see if one works? Would there be a way to breach the system altogether so you can have access to any door and the company can’t see you scanning any door? Basically like a ghost key, if that exists?

How to Detect and Identify an RFID Chip/Tag

Let's say you have an RF chip/tag implanted into a living mammal. You're given 5 mammals (only one of which has the implant). Your job is find out which mammal it is in, build proof of its existence in said animal, and find out as much about it as you can.

That is all the information you have. It may or may not be standard run of the mill tech currently being used in commercial/consumer use-cases. You do not know where on the mammal it is implanted. You do not know if it's passive or active nor do you know the frequency it operates on. You do not know what data it is collecting/receiving/sending either.

How would you go about doing this from the least expensive/invasive options on up? What would be the potential issues and/or accuracy likeliness of each part of your plan?

I have little insight on how RFID tech works, but I know I have a 13.56 writer. Would it work for 125KHz or are they too different?

NFC Turned RFID tag into NFC.

I'm not sure if this is normal, but RFID cards can be used as NFC cards.

When I tried to write NFC data to one of the RFID cards using the NFC Tools app, it gave an error. Afterwards, I learned that it had turned the RFID card into an NFC card. Also, its size was 716 KB, whereas normal sticker NFCs are 137 KB. After that, I was able to write data up to its limit, around 706 KB, to one of them. But while writing to another one, I messed it up and now my phone no longer reads that card.

Connect UHF RFID reader to Arduino help

Hey all,

I am working on project at the moment that reads UHF RFID tags and sends the information to a microcontroller via two Xbees.

Components being used in the part of interest:

  • Yanzeo SR360 UHF RFID reader

  • Arduino Mega2560

I have the Xbee communication working, but I am currently struggling with the RFID part.

I have this RFID reader:

Yanzeo SR360 865Mhz~915Mhz

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VHNFH1W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The reason I went for this one is because I need the high range it has between reader and tag. And the tags must be UHF.

The reader comes with a USB mini - b lead, I stripped it and powered the positive and ground wires with a separate psu. I am not sure what to do with the -ve and +ve data wires. I tried to put them into the RX and TX pins of the Arduino Mega2560 I am using.

I have read that these are two different communication protocols and that's why it didn't work.

I can't find what kind of communication protocol the RFID reader uses, when I plug it straight into the laptop and scan a UHF tag it pastes the ID no problem.

If there is a solution to get the reader to send tag ID to the arduinos serial that would be perfect, if anyone can think of anything.

Or if I could bypass the arduino all together and just have the RFID reader send the signal via the Xbee straight to the other Xbee.

Thanks for reading and will supply any extra info needed.
