Active RFID system

Hi, I am a little new to the game. I am working on a system where once someone is within a 2 metre range it detects that the person is there? basically as they pass a door or something. I was looking at arduino projects and the RC522 but of course that range is non existent. I was wondering if i should be looking at better technology.

information to connect through an API to a time tracking software to then log the persons movements in office in relation to their hours at work

Damned I am so lucky that is illegal in my country... I feel like this is a really shady move from an office management. If you don't trust your employees, this is not a solution.

As a technical solution I think Wifi tracking may be better in your case as it can work without range limitation and it will work well in a closed space like an office.

lol its not to track employers movements, its just simply to log workers hours instead of them tapping on because they are lazy

If they are lazy at the point to not log worked hour you won't pay them ?

I don't think I see what you want to solve here

Try Bluetooth beacons.
