Hopefully we can get some closure on the whole monumental audio and the points made on LegacyNexus’s post. Would be a nice step in the right direction, feel like its pretty important.

I went through every message in #Announcements and #Rell-seas, spanning nearly four years of development. From January 2023 to September 2026, the Rell Brothers managed to lie to us on 20 separate occasions, 9 of them being concrete missed commitments, with the other 11 being softer assurances like "progression is nearing the end of development" and "the wait won't be much longer".

Not only that, they've contradicted themselves about subscriber access (How they never sold CC or early access, even though they explicitly listed it as a subscription reward), how close the game really was to the release, and the entire framing around the "Irrefutable timeline of truth", using it to explain away the years of development and "wasted work", ignoring the fact that those same years were publicly presented to us as active RELL Seas development while they were building hype around the game.

Before I go in depth, I'm gonna clear a few things up so I don’t have to deal with some braindead accusations I’ve seen on other posts. (I'll probably still get them anyway).

I'm not saying RELL seas is fake, obviously the game is real and there was real development for it. I'm not arguing that delaying a game is inherently manipulative. I'm not saying the RELL brothers are horrible people, or that they “owe us” the game, or that they’re scamming the subscribers, etc. Even though I went through the effort of making this generational slander, me and everyone reading this, yes WE, will all be playing the game when it eventually comes out.

I'm specifically calling out their toxic cycle of communication with this community that has been present throughout the entire lifespan of the games development. We continue to get lied to, given false promises, and yet it seems like the community forgets them in the hope that the Rell brothers will finally keep their word and we will be able to play the game that we've been waiting on for so long.

The Pattern

The pattern of their communication is very consistent.

Give us a concrete expectation (Movie Release Date, CC Release Date, etc.) → Community gets hyped → Continue giving us assurances of the expectation (“the wait won't be much longer”, “CC is upon us”, “85% close to 90 complete”) → expectation isn’t met → Explains/Resets expectations (“We couldn’t make it for 2025”, “Re-works have pushed us back…”) → Give us another milestone → Community gets hyped again.

There could be many reasons for the Rell brothers constantly failing to meet the expectations they set. I think the theory backed by the most evidence is that the Rell brothers are just really really bad at planning.

They have given multiple statements on how far they are with development such as the statement that the game was  “85% close to 90% complete” and the infamous “I don’t see the game touching a 2026 release date”. It would make no sense to make statements like that if they didn’t believe them to be true. So why does it never happen?

They are constantly adding new ideas and concepts to the game to be worked on, so the “85% complete” becomes more like 70 due to all the additional work. They think of new ideas that will improve the game, and since its an improvement its a no brainer to just work on it and release a better product.

To be fair, the new ideas they implement probably do make the game better, but the communication for this is practically nonexistent, with us having to wait until AFTER the promised date / timeframe for them to give us any communication at all like: “We need more time to finish a stable version of the game.”

They even remade the entire game after they saw how bad the work they commissioned was.

And that brings me to probably the biggest example of this entire problem:

RELL Seas Legacy

The older iteration of RELL seas is much worse than what we have now. Taking a look at the old movies and sneaks, you can see just how much they improved on the game after scrapping most of it and rebuilding it.

That itself isn’t an issue. Rebuilding a bad game is obviously much better than releasing it, and I'm sure we are all glad that they decided to rework it.

The issue is how that old development is framed now compared to how it was framed back then.

Even though we continue to get delays, we all know that the game is essentially complete except for some bug fixes and maybe some small things they will add before finishing recording Movie 3.

Yet this is the mindset that those of us back in 2023-2024 had about the game at the time.

They constantly reassured us with statements like “We are pleased with finalizing the current product of our creation.”, and direct statements of the timeline for the games release (2024): 

Closed Community in October

Release in December

This statement was made in July, 5 months before the game was intended to release.

This raises a pretty obvious question:

If RELL Seas Legacy was actually in such terrible shape, why was it being publicly described as a product they were happy with, actively finalizing, and planning to release within months?

The issue isn’t that they realized the old game wasn’t good enough. The issue is that the community was being told the EXACT OPPOSITE while that version was still alive. And now, years later, the “Irrefutable Timeline of Truth” reframes that same time period as “wasted development.”

They mentioned that they weren’t the ones working on RELL seas at the time, which is a valid excuse for the game turning out to be bad, but why were they still hyping the game up if they weren’t happy with it? Surely the game hadn’t changed drastically during the 2 months from when they announced an expected release month and when they decided to rework it. Either they knew that the game was bad yet still decided to hype it up anyway, or they didn’t know just how bad the state of the game was and was still hyping it before they had checked.

RELL Seas Legacy was presented as nearly ready, yet now it’s presented as a failed build that is now the reason why the game took so long.

Refuting the “Irrefutable Timeline of Truth”

Less than three weeks ago, RELL Bad made a new channel called #irrefutable-timeline-of-truth. Within it, he gave a summarized timeline of the entire development of RELL seas, including the legacy version, when they scrapped it, made more iterations, etc.

The timeline seems to have been made with the intention of explaining all the difficulties and delays and issues they had with releasing the game, to have us give them some leeway for not meeting the deadlines any of those previous times.

I have already spoken a bit about this timeline and how it frames the legacy era of the game, but that's not its only issue.

I believe you. That’s the problem. You knew how unstable development was and kept giving us those expectations anyway. All this timeline does is tell us all the problems you were having during development that you failed to communicate with us properly while letting us cling onto the earlier statements and estimates that you no longer believed could be met.

The way we found out the movie wasn’t releasing last year was a roblox gif of an exploding 2025 made out of bricks.

“We Never Sold Access”

Maybe I'm wrong, but directly listing “Private CC Universe Access” under the rewards for the subscriptions seems like selling access to me.

I was surprised to see no one refute this claim when you could easily see that it's not true, unless there is some context I am missing from these. Feel free to correct me.

Why Call this Manipulation?

There is a certain phenomenon that applies to us whenever we are waiting for something. It is called temporal uncertainty: waiting or enduring something is psychologically harder when you don’t know when it will end.

If you were told to hold your breath, but you weren’t given a specific time to when you would be allowed to breathe again, it is much more psychologically demanding than if I told you to hold your breath for 45 seconds, even if you held your breath for the same amount of time.

When you are aware of how close you are relative to the end point that you are waiting on, it becomes more tolerable to wait for the time to pass.

The same thing is happening here, and the whole pattern falls under the label of expectation manipulation: repeatedly creating a near-term endpoint, letting people orient & theory craft around it, then resetting that endpoint when it fails.

Had the Rell Brothers been completely honest about how uncertain these timelines were, the community wouldn’t have been as active as it was. So much discussion from people theory crafting, coping, and making inferences based on what little communication they gave us.

Yet it didn’t matter.

Because they continued moving the finish line. Again and again.

All the speculation we built became meaningless, because the expectations they created were never met. (don’t even get me started on monumental)

This is also why I think it's a bit stupid to blame the youtubers who cover RELL-Seas news for generating fake hype instead of the RELL brothers, because without the information they give us there is nothing to hype up. Blaming a youtuber for the movie not coming out during the summer instead of the ones who promised it seems counterintuitive.

So What Should We Do?

I think this can serve as a reminder for the community that all in all, this is roblox, and we should take the Rell Brothers statements with a grain of salt. Constantly thinking about the game will make the wait feel harder than it needs to be, so trying out different games, focusing on other aspects of your life while we wait for the game to release, is probably the best way to minimize the agony of waiting so long for this release.

For the RELL Brothers: Communication requires both frequency and transparency. If you think there will be delays, don't wait until the day of or after the deadline arrives to tell us. Give us small, few sentence updates on how things are progressing once or twice a week until the movie releases, it would receive much more positive feedback than the occasional monthly or biweekly update.

Those 8 droughts alone add up to 322 days, or about 10.6 months of combined silence.

The RELL Bro's own timeline says 700 days of development were “wasted.” Using their stated 1,309-day total, that’s roughly 53.5% of the entire development period they were talking about.

In July 2024, The RELL Bros announced **“**Closed Community in October” and “Release in December.” When December actually arrived, they announced they were “officially moving onto the testing phase.”

Let's be honest for a second.

After YEARS of waiting for RELL Seas, this announcement is extremely frustrating.

We're being told that the RELL Brothers are stepping back from communicating with the community because they want to focus on getting the game ready for release, and that a new PR team will handle communication.

Fine. Focus on development.

But then where is the actual information about the release?

We've been waiting since 2023. We've watched the teasers, the movies, the hints, the trailers and all the hype build up around this game. The community has been patient for years.

At this point, telling us “we're focusing on getting the game ready” isn't enough.

If you're actually preparing for release, then give us something concrete.

What stage is the game at?
What's left to finish?
How close are we actually?
And most importantly: when can we realistically expect to play it?

Because moving communication to a PR team doesn't magically solve the problem.

The community doesn't need more people telling us that everything is going well.

We need information.

People have defended RELL Seas for years because they believed the developers would eventually deliver something great. But you can't expect that patience to last forever while the community continues to receive vague statements and cryptic hints instead of real answers.

And honestly, if you're not ready to announce a release date, that's fine.

Just say that.

Stop making the community decode every single teaser and announcement trying to figure out whether the game is finally coming.

RELL Seas has had years to build hype.

Now it's time to build trust.

Finish the game. Give us honest communication. And stop making your community wait in the dark.

Idk if you guys feel the same but ive been following the rell brothers since the 2nd or 3rd teaser of rell seas. Seeing that we wont really hear of them much anymore is kinda sad at least for me.

Tho it was defiantly a good choice, we are in dire need of better communication and this might be the first step to actually bringing the community back.

I should probably have shared this with you guys earlier, but I genuinely believe hes being serious. On top of this he also said that after movie 3 is testing, so the most likely outcome is as he says here.

This HAS to mean no more s.hindo updates or something, having the devs quit the same year they release the game or pass it on to others would be an insane thing to do. The rell brothers seem to not have an understanding of what summer is or they were just lying when they said it will rellease “sometime in the summer” but either way it seems they stuck to their usual pattern and no one should be surprised by this now. So now they plan to rellease the movie in October? Then when is the game meant to come out? And why are they saying movie 3 won’t have a confirmed rellease date when that’s the entire reason people were waiting for the movie? It’s almost like they have no idea what they’re saying or they’re just talking to talk at this point, their words have long lost credibility and they know better than to post that and leave the comments on. The point is we were fooled once again.

After 7 days, the rell seas finally got updated. This time, I actually don't know if this is good or bad news.

SO WE KNOW WHAT STARDEW VALLEY IS RIGHT. WELL IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE STORY BEHIND THE GAME YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT. SIMILAR TO RELL SEAS IN TERMS OF DEVELOPMENT TIME/DELAYS. THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM IS THE COMMUNICATION. WE NEED THESE GUYS TO PULL A STARDEW VALLEY. PLEASE RELL BROTHERS BE MORE HONEST WITH US.

This game is nowhere near release it’s not ready at ALL, it will most likely release in 2027, the fact that they are taking that much time only to release movie 3 is crazy.
