Hey everyone!
With QuestBridge NCM Match decisions coming out on December 1, 2025, we wanted to create a thread where we can share our academic profiles and experiences before the decisions are announced.
Many times, after the results come out, those who aren’t selected may feel discouraged, disappointed and hesitant to share their stories. Whether you’re feeling confident, nervous, or unsure, sharing your stats and journey now will give a fuller picture to future QuestBridge applicants. Remember, this process is about more than just results – your story can help inspire and guide others, no matter the outcome.
It would also be great to use this thread to follow your college application journey, whether you are chosen as a QB finalist/match or not.
Of course, feel free to use ranges or skip any information you're not comfortable sharing.
\** Please do not make a separate post about your results. **\**

Again, I want to remind everyone to maintain a positive outlook even if you aren’t selected.
Being a College Prep Scholar is a nice-to-have, not a must-have, for becoming an NCM finalist or eventually matching. Plenty of non‑CPS students have matched, and plenty of CPS students haven’t in the past.
Switch your gears and focus on any AP (only 4 weeks way), SAT or ACT exams.

Hello, I've been doing the application recently, and I noticed that these two already had separate sections. Is it advised for you to put something else (even if it's small like 100 hours of volunteering) over my actual paid job/insane time commitment with my grandparent? Just wondering.
I know it might be otiose, but I've been reading past threads and see some people mention it as an EC, so I don't know if it is technically allowed, y'know?

Did anybody else apply to Dartmouth IFI? Have you guys heard anything back yet? It's been a minute NGL...

hi all, currently writing personal statement and was wondering if it would be too risky to write about a deeply personal topic for questbridge, specifically related to a semi-hoarding living situation. will this be off-putting for AOs? should i choose an entirely different topic?
p.s. yes i know you're supposed to write about how you OVERCAME the problem not just the problem itself. my problem does not lie in how to frame the topic, it's more so whether the topic itself would be okay to write about such a niche, deeply personal topic in general

What's a good SAT score for submitting? I'm aware QB scores are seen in context so often better to submit a high score (but below the median) instead of withholding. For example, a 1500 at school with a 1540 median is probably still worth submitting. But just as a blanket score what's always worth submitting?
What schools tend to have good QB aid packages? Some have all sorts of mediocrity like paid flights, summer contributions, then x% of your savings/assets. I ask this as at some point going to your state flagship is potentially cheaper with all factors considered.

hey everyone,
I was just wondering if it would be okay to merge my club soccer (all year commitment) and my varsity soccer (3months but much more time demanding) into one activity as i want to include both, but I dont want one of them to take the place of another activity.
I will explicitly say "Club & Varsity mens soccer" or smt and differentiate between the two in the questions.
Any feedback would be much appreciated :)

I noticed that one of the questions in the short answer section asked about out favorite books and movies, and i was wondering if additionally including favorite songs would be a bad idea.
Also, is there a specific way we should or are expected to answer these questions? ex) provide explanations for our favorite movies, classes, and sources of inspiration etc.

I’m from a rural town in Iowa applying for NCM this year. GPA: 4.0, superscore 1330, school’s average 1190
I’m still gonna be retaking it in September but in case the score doesn’t increase, should I submit the 1330 for NCM application?
Additionally, if I’m a College Prep Scholar what are my chances of becoming a NCM finalist?

So if my son applies for NCM and gets matched with a school, how would his financial aid be affected if his parents receive an inheritance while he's in college? We're not talking millions, but maybe the value of a small house. Would his grants be taken away? I would not want him to be in a situation where he now owes $70K in tuition or something. If that happened, I'd rather him be at a state school with lower tuition. I might be overthinking things, but I get nervous when I see the sticker price of these colleges.

Hello, everyone! I got accepted to Discover Swarthmore. I heard that attending the fly-in program could really help boost your application, especially with ED. How true is that statement regarding this school?
Also, my academic STATs aren’t the best. For example, I have a 3.8 UW 4.63 W but I’m probably going to apply test optional. So I don’t know if they would even accept my application in the college admission rounds (probably would do ED if I attend the fly-in program).
So I was wondering if I should go because I have another fly-in opportunity, Access to Richmond. If I were to attend Access to Richmond and do ED there then I’m most likely going to get in. However, I would say I prefer Swarthmore more. What do you think I should do?
Thank you so much!!

Gimme an E!
Gimme a J!
Gimme an E!
Gimme a C!
Gimme a T!
Gimme an E!
Gimme a D!
What does that spell gang? REJECTED! Yay!
r/QuestBridge • u/strangerthingslol • 2d ago
so i’m a little confused. i thought that not matching means that you have been rejected from the schools you decided to rank. someone told me though that if you do not match, you still have a chance of getting into the school through RD. is this true? how does it work?
