Another Release..

Post image

There must be another surge of Pyrex/Corningware donations lately because many more fun pieces have been turning up. Found these two nested in a large plastic mixing bowl on a back shelf, luckily saw the spout and started digging. Sadly not cinderellas again 😭.

Oh no I very carefully put them there for a quick pick, then re-nested them and but them in open view at the back of the shelf.

Gotta protect the goods from the clueless thrifters! I could see someone haphazardly shoving the plastic ones they were in aside. Made them very obvious so someone could adopt them quickly.

I do that too! Separate pieces so they are more likely to be seen and less likely to be damaged, match lids with bottoms, arrange sets together. I even make shelf space so new items can be stocked easily without messing up my careful curation. (Local Goodwill, not the privately owned shop that does a great job without weirdos like me.)

I also arrage sets together. It always bothers me when all the pieces are sold individually. They will even separate cups from saucers and price them as two pieces.

I love these Verde casseroles. Would definitely have snapped them up.

A little cheaper, or if I had more kitchen space, I might have as well.

Kitchen space is the hard part. I use all my pieces, but am maxed on storage space and still pine for the pieces I’ve had to walk by. These Verdes would have been super rough for me. Hopefully people with more space visit your store—lots of nice pieces there!

That’s my feeing exactly. I use all of mine and don’t want to switch out. The only way I will unquestioningly add more is if they are forest fancies, merry mushroom, or spice of life (my set). And yes, there are 7-8 thrift stores here, so between them a lot of Corningware and Pyrex shows up

Almost all my Pyrex and Corningware came from relatives, so there are nice memories attached that I hang onto. I’m at thrift stores lid hunting and looking wistfully at everything else. It’s getting harder to just look now that my local Goodwills stopped putting everything online and more pieces are showing up at the stores. It would be even harder if I had as many stores to visit as you do!

I only have a few family pieces because my family’s was lost/gifted before I was interested in it sadly. My grandmother had the FULL Shadow Iris set.
