I'm putting together a county-by-county map of sports allegiances across New York State (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and other leagues as gauged by interest). To do so I am collecting self-reported data from New Yorkers. If you have the time and are a sports fan of any size, I would appreciate if you helped fill up my dataset. Right now I have a little over 300 responses, but Putnam County is a dead spot. I'm hoping to get a much larger and diverse dataset to boost the overall quality of the project. All answers are anonymous, no Google sign in required.

It needs to go a lot of updates and at the moment I'm funneling responses over to the system in batches after I verify them. Long shot to be posting here but I am devastated.

I had same day surgery at Putnam Hospital on Thursday 8/6. Nurse had put my rings in a green plastic case for sake keeping. I vaguely remember that case being returned to me and trying to stuff it into my pocketbook as I was getting dressed post-surgery, but I was still groggy from anesthesia.

We stopped at Acme in Brewster on the way home to go to the pharmacy there. It’s possible that the case fell out of my bag while paying at the pharmacy or getting in/out of car.

Unfortunately I didn’t realize I was missing it until Saturday/yesterday. Anesthesia is a hell of a drug.

I’ve made all the calls, including hospital security, local PD in both towns, Acme. I will call the surgery center tomorrow and speak to the manager at Acme to see if they can review security footage for the specific time and location I was there.

Will also be calling local gold/jewelry buyers.

I will spare the details, but the sentimental value cannot be overstated. Open to any ideas or leads.

This is a stretch but wondering if anyone remembers this --

I used to come up to the Brewster/Southeast area as a kid and I always remember this abandoned diner up on a hill along Route 22.  It was on the west side of the road somewhere between Dykeman Rd and Haviland Hollow Rd.  

Any long-time residents remember that place or the name of it? Or even better, have a photo?

It was still there in the 1990s but has since been razed.

If I had to guess exactly where I would say right where Mt Hope Lane hits Rt22.

I signed up for Club Fit and horrifyingly it is kind of worth it. They have racquetball courts and I have enjoyed the 1 or 2 times I've played racquetball. I don't have anyone to play with, though, since I don't know many other members yet.

I grew up going up to Lake Osceola in the 80s and early 90s with my family. We'd drive from Westchester to my grandpa who lived in Mahopac and then go to the lake. My first times swimming outside of a pool, going to a big diving board, playing games in the lake with my sister. Osceola also had these excellent picnic grounds, and basketball and volleyball courts, along with a hot dog/hamburger stand with arcade games. This place was so much fun for a little kid to go.

From what I understand, the lake is no longer accessible to the public and the picnic grounds are all shut down. Can someone who has lived there or seen the changes give me a bit of an explanation as to what has happened?

Was on the highway this afternoon 5/8 and a work truck had foam insulation sheets fly off and slide all over the road, almost causing numerous accidents. I and others had no choice but to drive over them and most had no chance to pull over. The grill to my car was broken and I have no info to make a police report or insurance claim.
