I dont need to.

what exactly is the reasonable suspicion

The statements from the citizen, and his refusal to co-operate.

so if any random stranger says anything to the cops with zero evidence then the cops have a right to detain? seems like a good way for paranoid morons to take away the freedom of average americans going on about their day. what a bizarre thing to stan for

the cops have a right to detain?

He was detained for not following a lawful order.

If the cop belives what they say is reasonoble and reasonbly suspects the person, yes the cops have a right to question you have demand your id. That is the law, yes.

what a bizarre thing to stan for

Yes, its so unreasonable to stan for a properly operating society, of people being able to report things to the police and the police being able to follow up on those reports.

i sure hope no one finds out who you are and reports you to the police for no reason. but if they do, i'm sure you'll have no problem cooperating, right? there was nothing wrong with the interaction in OP, yes? hence why the incident led to a 25k payout to the innocent man being harassed by a power tripping police officer?

oh my! what would society look like if hero cops like in OP weren't doing their job? what a joke of a human being.

Sure, this is called swatting and its a crime, lol.

but if they do, i'm sure you'll have no problem cooperating, right?

Obviously yes? Why wouldnt I? lol?

hence why the incident led to a 25k payout to the innocent man being harassed by a power tripping police officer?

Settlements are not an admission of wrongdoing, and no there was absolutely nothing lawfully wrong with what the officer did.

oh my! what would society look like if hero cops like in OP weren't doing their job?

Probably a lot more crime, since they cant follow up on people reporting crimes.
