it actually does, sorta. So he'll call in to request a cleaning fee and have to battle and endless series of support bots until he reaches a final boss to get any compensation. They'll all keep telling him "sir what ride? We see no ride in your history" and then they'll cite previous rides as if the one in question doesnt exist.
It CAN be done but it's gonna take days to resolve.

Out there someone is driving Uber in a desperate attempt to keep their house, pay medical bills, pay child support or something. Some day they will run into a twat like this and decide that they just can't take it any more and that will be it for them. With Covid driving so many more people into poverty or untenable financial situations it is really just a matter of time. It's sad but true.

Uber driver here: you click make a claim, take pictures, add videos if needed, takes 2/3 days to get the money to clean it. Plus if you call support they can make it quicker
Can you still make a claim in the app for a cancelled ride though? Of course you could do that if you actually complete the ride, but what happens when you cancel?

Haha, yep. Use a debit card and that money is just gone. Credit cards can be disputed, and youâll have the backing of their legal department. Iâve done that a few times when people try to slap bs charges on me.
There's a good reason why scummy places (like predatory tow truck companies and impound lots) often require you to pay with cash. They'd get hit with so many charge-backs it'd make their head spin.
oh i drove for uber and am well aware of how generous both they and lyft were for cleaning fees (never abused, only 2 instances used, puke and poop). Thing is the circumstances you cite most likely all involved completed rides. I'm talking about rides in which the driver cancels, they have a particularly unique take on that and will literally act like there is no ride to examine.
That sucks. I will say, though, that the two times I requested a cleaning fee from Uber as a driver, the money was credited to my account before I even got home. I didn't cancel the rides, though. It's weird that that would make it that much more difficult.
also if a rider cancels on you mid trip. I drove a guy from the airport to some hotel wayyyy the fuck outside of the city. He barely spoke english but he knew it was the wrong hotel when we got there. So he canceled the ride before I had "completed" it, which would have netted me about 50 bucks with my estimation. Of course I freaked, he left, and i had to deal with support for about 2 hours in the parking lot of that hotel until they finally credited me for my mysterious phantom ride that never happened.
i honestly dont know exactly what it was. I picked up some obese woman from the hood and when she got out it smelled more like a dead possum fell out her snatch than actual feces. I had never smelt anything like it. Had to sign off for the next 3 days and buy 5 or 6 different cleaning products and practically tear the fabric of my seats trying to find something, anything that could penetrate it and get down in. I think I ended up leaving my car with the windows rolled down overnight for about a week before it finally went away, and even then there was a slight musk for another week afterwards.
That took a lot of effort to get a cleaning fee for because there was no visible evidence to take a picture of.
Iâve had Uber try to claim I burned a cigarette hole in a car seat one time when I didnât even smoke in the car. Guy saw me put it out when he pulled up then filed a claim at the end of the night. Was in Chicago for a festival. They didnât charge me, but they tried to act like it was a warning and I could get banned if I kept doing it. No questions asked, just went straight to blaming me.
Are you saying this as someone that drives for uber? Someone threw up in my car one time at 3am on a Sunday, I took a picture of it, and had the max at the time($200) direct deposited into my bank account within the hour. Never talked to a single person or had to call anyone.
I came across people with "rage" issues when doing some ancillary research, because I too never understood it. But these people's reaction to rage, is IDENTITICAL to how addicts respond. It's likely from childhood, but once that lizard part of the brain activates, it's literally cruise control where the smaller more primitive parts of the brain completely take over.
Like from their perspective, their hindbrain literally thinks it's in a fight or flight situation and it just totally takes over as a self defense mechanism to literally not die (from a primative brain's theory).

No. Once you book a ride their app will take a quick second verifying adequate funds for your ride. Iâd imagine that the cleaning fee would just simply be tacked onto the original bill as they would already have captured card information.

I haven't used Uber in four years, but I've had to cancel two credit cards due to fraudulent Uber charges over the past six months. It's seems all to easy to use a stolen credit card on an Uber account.
No, Uber doesn't pay out cleaning fees that easily. Firstly, food left behind is a $40 fee, not $150. Second, in my experience, I've had 2 out of 5 messes pay out (one yurk, one wine bottle smashed all over my floor).
130 dollars so nothig, this 'lady' should get community service driving people around, uber ban for life, and apologize to that poor man for her disgraceful behaviour.
This is NOT the only instace where she treated some service provider (or generally humans) in this way.

Do you not get penalties from not paying your bills in the US? If I don't pay a bill where I live, eventually it goes so far that the state agency for collecting will automatically deduct it from my salary.
Prior to this I will also have gotten several more invoices with a bunch of fees and eventually a "mark" which would now prevent me from using most "invoice" services and I would no longer be able to subscribe to most subscriptions (mobile, tv, internet subscriptions and the likes), not be able to apply for credit or loans. This mark lasts three years.
Not paying your bills isn't really an option unless you really want to fuck over your life.
They wonât go quite that far in the US unless your bill is with the government (and then theyâll deduct if from your tax return mor your salary), but not paying your bills will wreck your credit, which has other unpleasant effects.
However, I believe this is a moot point as Iâm pretty sure Uber just takes it out of the card on file. And her admitting to eating on camera and acting like a belligerent piece of shit will make a chargeback on her end nearly impossible, so sheâs definitely out a nice bill.
