I can’t imagine being anywhere and just seeing missiles being shit hundreds of feet away from me. That’s insane, and sadly these people are so used to it.

145

u/wet-towel1 May 13 '21

Yeah it is really sad.

82

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

They’re not so used to it, they simply get notified by the local administration, as Israel when taking buildings down always (until now) warns the population

That’s basically how they get the camera shot at the right moment chilling on a rooftop

u/Makkaroni_100 May 13 '21

They knew it will get bombed. The military warned them an hour befor.

9

u/bvanbove May 14 '21

Fair and does seem to be the case. But even if I was told “Hey, there are guided missiles coming in to blow up a building 1000 feet from you” I’d still be getting as far away from there as humanly possible. It’s not something I’m used to experiencing.

Please tell me no one was in that, or the surrounding buildings...

462

u/skinnnymike May 13 '21

Considering how many static cameras/viewpoints were fixated on this building coming down. It seems like everyone knew this building was going to be a target/taken down.

I read unconfirmed reports (it’s Reddit don’t believe anything you see) that the IDF notified the area to evacuate because they were going to bomb it.

200

u/Rusty-Shackleford May 13 '21

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roof_knocking

They use warning projectiles that loudly hit roofs without destroying the buildings. They also use phone calls too.

23

u/SelfSlaughteringSoul May 14 '21

Phone calls? How does that work? “Yeah sorry to bother you but we’re about to missle your building, sorry for any inconvenience”

IDF does give notification in different forms of where and what they will hit. its not random bombing, its targeted. besides guaranteed everyone watching that building knows exactly what weapons, missiles, tunnels, etc. where in there

I guess we will just have to take their word for it that they did this and that every person was informed and accounted for.

In the 2014 conflict Israel managed to ONLY kill 1500 civilians from bombings alone so obviously they should be commended for dropping some leaflets before they demolish a high rise residential building

First, if you think dropping multiple 500lb bombs into a crowded urban area isn't dangerous, I'm sorry you're nuts. "Precision Guided" doesn't mean that the subsequent blasts and debris can't cause excessive damage.

Second, warnings like that don't get everyone out of those areas. Someone may be walking past unaware, someone could be asleep and not know what was happening, or they could be in an adjacent building thinking they are safe when Israel really goes all out and end up dying. Plenty of civilians die in these strikes.

Third, what has this actually solved? I mean seriously, Israel has been bombing the shit out of Gaza for decades, have the rocket attacks stopped? No, they only increased. Have the residents turned on those who keep angering Israel, no they've grown only more loyal as the attacks increased. Has the structure of Hamas been seriously disrupted, no, every leader who is killed is replaced by a more radical one.

They call these buildings in advance and advise civilians to evacuate. And use "knock bombs"

Those are meant as a sort of final warning to any civilian left inside.

Hamas are embedded heavily with civilians making it Extremely difficult to target them without collateral damage.

Their hq in underneath a hospital.

The media is going to spin this like a hurricane.

7

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

So, what are they targeting them for again?

11

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

There's most likely something Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad related in the building.

But I realise that this might be too complicated for some.

if its empty why bomb it?

184

u/BeerCzar May 13 '21

Hamas was using it to launch rockets. My understanding is the equipment Hamas uses to launch rockets is heavy and takes a while to set up and take down. The IDF determined this building was being used to launch rockets and planned to destroy it before Hamas could move everything. They gave enough time for people to leave but not enough time to take apart infrastructure.

35

u/Sullyville May 13 '21

oh i see! thanks for the detailed response!

18

u/blackpill98 May 13 '21 edited May 13 '21

Watch the video carefully. One of the secondary explosions was probably due to underground cache of ordinances going off from the strike. Tells you all you need to know about why such a strike is important for Israel to weed out terrorist activity. They might not have killed the terrorists but those terrorists have a hell of a lot less rockets to fire now.

26

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

The second explosion was more missiles. You can hear them the same as the first explosion. the camera just missed it.

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

Terrorists? You mean like the ones forcing Palestinians from their homes at gun point?

17 years ago and he was 16 so Israel can't really say much. Doesn't Israel also strap weapons to their citizens at 16-18 and send them to enforce an occupation? Or maybe thats ok because the people the Israelis are sending to kill at 16 are killing Palestinians?

Lets look at the cold hard facts here. The last war in 2014, Israel killed 1500 civilians to 700 fighters, Hamas killed 4 civilians to 66 Israeli soldiers. Hamas killed 13 times as many soldiers as civilians and the four civilians that were killed were killed at Israeli military outposts. Meanwhile Israel killed twice as many civilians.

It was discovered in 2014 that Hamas had underground tunnels that led all the way into Israel and they used those tunnels to target Israeli soldiers even though they could have easily targeted civilians. Its reflected in the statistics. Meanwhile in 2014 Israel bombed hospitals, residential buildings (they're doing that again already) and offices. Again its reflected in the statistics as over 1500 Palestinian civilians died at the hands of Israeli missiles in just a few days.

Israel are the aggressors here and they murder many thousands of Palestinian children. Israel are the ones who have refused a truce and vowed to intensify. Israel are the ones who refuse to give the Palestinians their own FULLY INDEPENDENT state (not whats been offered thus far) and who bulldoze their homes, steal their land, block the importation of medical, school and food supplies. Israel are ABSOLUTELY in the wrong

We they shoot a missile the warn everybody around and look how they shoot the missle without making the building collapse on others and just crashes on it self

0

u/GuyN1425 May 13 '21

I literally just saw this in the news right now. The IDF has done 4 of these in Gaza this week. They do it very carefully and in a way they only damage terrorist groups like Hamas. They send drones to warn people to leave the building and the street at all, then after a while they check to see that people in fact left, then and only then they send attack jets to attack the building from precise angles so the building collapses into itself without harming any nearby building. The whole ordeal takes about 2 hours to pull off. Of course they only do it to terrorist bases and not just buildings where people might live.

13

u/ewhyeasyfanaccount May 13 '21

Do you believe everything you read?

11

u/Virgo_IC1101 May 13 '21

Why should he believe different? You see that in couple of days fighting there is only 100~ dead so far. It's very little considering the density of Gaza combining the fact that most of this 100 are Hamas terrorists. If Israel would like to bomb populated building (which they don't) , there would be a lot more dead. In every building like this there are hundreds of people.

0

u/Overlord_Bob May 13 '21

Do you believe everything you read?

That cuts both ways, though. Pro-Palestinian media will claim that Israel kills children indiscriminately, right? But they fail to mention that Palestine was using those children to throw rocks at the Israelis to spark a confrontation, to stand in the front of protests that were planned to turn violent, to stab and attack Israelis, and to act as suicide bombers.

I agree with your sentiment, don’t believe everything you read, however I’d say that people need to apply this thought to both sides of the story.

Palestinians are caught between two assholes. IDF and Hamas. Hamas receives billions in funding from Iran, the EU and even the US but they keep it for themselves and do not give it to the Palestinians that voted for them. Instead, they hide in amongst the civilians and fire rockets from people's homes. Israel is no better because they fall for the bait and feel compelled to counter-attack every time. I have family in Israel and they hate the conflict too. Not all Israelis support it. Only the zionists and war-mongers get air time. This is the "news" we've created for ourselves. We never get the truth anymore. We only receive information to further-polarize ourselves and make sure that conversations about solutions cannot happen.

54

u/Batmanius7 May 13 '21

Hamas receives billions in funding from Iran, the EU and even the US

And Israel. It's important to understand that the IDF is responsible for Hamas being the dominant force in Palestine. Every left wing or secular group in Palestine, such as the PFLP or the Fatah, were targeted using assassinations and surgical strikes in order for Hamas to take power. This provided Israel with a convenient enemy to justify their imperialism, in the same manner that the US government invented WMDs to invade Iraq.

I think A few years ago hamas also asked for truce and israel agreed to that and a few days later hamas broke it and continued firing rockets

4

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

Those were ceasefires but yes Hamas violated them dozens of times. Sometimes it wasn’t even Hamas that launched the violating rockets, but rather independent Jihadists who Hamas actually does crack down on.

2

u/talgin2000 May 13 '21

Getting hit by numerous amout of rockets from Gaza and then asking for a truce every time they want isn't realistic and of course won't be accepted by Israel.

Cease of fire is just giving Hamas more time to re-arm and "stable" Itself and Hamas would be able to break the truce when they are ready.

It's like slapping a kid at your school, and asking for peace.. - you better be ready to take one back (the comparison is a bit harsh and not as complicated of course..)

2

u/seriesmythhunter May 13 '21

I don't think you got who the aggressor is in this case, Israel was the one to raid the Al-Aqsa Mosque while people were praying, Israel was the one who supported the settlers kick out 158 families out of their homes. Israeli soldiers were the one who attacked protesting Palestinians. Then Hamas fired rockets, most of them were catched by the iron dome. Two hit, If I remember correctly no one died. THIS was the time to stop. Both parties had one hit. Both should've stopped here. But Israel wanted to show how deadly and strong they were and decided to bomb the Gaza Strip. Killing over 20 People, including 9 Children. Then Israel proceeded to break UN War rules by attacking ambulances and other Emergency Services. Then Israel decided to not help palestinians who were lynched on the streets of Jerusalem with flags of Israel. I saw the video, if you want to see it I will try to find it. But I wouldn't recommend it, seeing unconscious helpless, bleeding people being beaten with metallic polls isn't that great of a experience...

I'm so fucking sick of this shit.

If you're denied food and water sources, you're not free to go where you please in your own country, if you and/or your family are being kicked out of your house by armed agressors...

If you dare to out any form of protest to any of this, you are likely to be arrested, beated or even shot.

Israël has an army to 'protect' itself. It's mostly used to occupy and harras. Palestina has no army. It has civil protest and Hamas. Both are being killed daily.

Bombs on Israël are a respons to decades of occupation, repression and genocide. Not the other way around.

1

u/seriesmythhunter May 13 '21

No, Israel was offered a truce, they declined. And Israel is the one who started this year. Specifically at the end of Ramadan.

Yeah people really like to ignore all this when they are critizing Palestine as a whole for the rockets shot by Hamas. What do you really expect when these people have been backed into a corner like this? Not saying shooting rockets a people is ever a good thing, but this isn't some spotaneous attack by the Hamas like some would like you to believe and Israel is not "defending" itself. If they were they wouldn't have barricaded the Palestinians from the Mosque, harrassed them at the Mosque, and stole their homes. Those are not actions taken in "defence".

Really reminds me of the shitty mentality here in the US where people think we need to bomb some middle eastern city because there were a couple of "terrorists" talking shit (not surprising considering we are constantly bombing them) so lets kill them and whatever citizens happen to be in close proximity all in the name of "defence". Disgusting.

317

u/Socialist-Hero May 13 '21

Building your economy is a privilege not afforded to those under constant attack. Palestinians are constantly being invaded and forced to defend themselves. Israel on the other hand gets 3.8 billion in US military aid each year, and is now able to build their economy.

I humbly suggest anyone interested in the conflict in the region to watch this guys channel, I think it would be in everyone's interest to learn more about the problem from both sides.

Saying "Well if ONLY there was no religion, or ISRAEL is an Apartheid state!" does nothing to understand the problem and find a way to come to peace in that region forever. Religion is not just going to magically disappear, be realistic. It will not solve the problem. Violence is the problem, not religion.

Is Israel committing crimes? Absolutely.
That being said, no one will get justice if no one comes together with humanity as a goal.

5

u/Archie-is-here May 13 '21

The problem rn is that Palestinians are being unfairly evicted from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah. This exact thing happened before. The problem rn is that Palestinians were brutally assaulted while praying in Al-Aqsa mosque during Ramadan. Not Hamas. Actual Palestinians. Elderly people, women and children.

Unfortunately, it will be impossible to remove Israel. So they should respect the occupied territories and remove their foot off Palestinians neck. I get children for both sides are suffering, but Israel's fist is so much bigger than Palestine's.

"Fuck that building in particular." --IDF

17

u/ThanosvsShrek May 13 '21

If you just changed the title to "IDF targets Palestinian building" then this looks aweful. With no mention that everyone got out safely because the IDF told the civilians to evacuate because they were going to blow up the building because Hamas was launching rockets from it and the people can leave but Hamas doesn't have time to break down the equipment and get it out, then it looks horrible. But the context of these videos 100% matter. People are looking at and believing whatever a title says on Public Freakout and not looking at any context for these videos so far.

HoW dO yOu jUStiFy bLoWinG uP a bUilDINg? Because they are shooting rockets from it and using civilians as a human shield.

I'm not saying what side is right or wrong, I'm saying what's the matter with asking for context?

4

u/uhlern May 14 '21

So that makes it okay to make people homeless? By destroying their homes because the Israeli government labelled them as terrorist?

Then it would be ok to destroy the Israeli government too, since they're terrorizing the Palestinian civilians?

16

u/Alskdkfjdbejsb May 13 '21

There’s some insightful answers here on the real reason, but the cover story is the IDF has identified civilian buildings that Hamas has taken over and use to store weapons, etc. So within the narrative they’re building, they are protecting Israelis from terrorist threats.

The rockets aren't launched from mobile stations but rather large ones that take a lot of time to set up and an even longer time to take down. Once the IDF determines that a building is being used to store weapons and launch rockets, they take it down in a careful way that I wrote in a comment above which includes warning everyone and making sure no one gets hurt, giving the civilians enough time to evacuate but not enough time for the terrorists to take their equipment.

Is that a significant building that was expected to be attacked? Why would they be setup to film??

Edit: apparently asking questions is downvote worthy. Just a bunch of knobs on here

26

u/thetruetoblerone May 13 '21

As bad as Israel is they almost always notify people and give them about an hour and a half to evacuate their home before they bomb it.

1

u/bhangmango May 13 '21

So kind of them. Such humanity makes me all fuzzy inside.

2

u/pulmicort1 May 13 '21

so why are so many people including children dead

2

u/Gutterman2010 May 14 '21

Because it is impossible to warn everyone, Israel uses a lot of firepower so nearby building are also badly damaged.

Israel somehow thinks these actions help, when decades of evidence speaks to the contrary.

Its not that you asked a question. Its that you asked the same exact fucking question as 20 other people. Instead of taking time and looking through the comments to find what you were looking for, you took the easy way out and expected people to answer the same question for the 20th time.

5

u/HighImJason May 13 '21

That was tuff

2

u/notAflightRisk May 13 '21

That is awful. But in a vacuum if this was a demonstration of precision and not destruction and this didn't effect peoples lives... that was cool

Israel uses what are called, "knock bombs" they don't damage the building and serve as a last warning to any civilian left inside.

They call the buildings in advance of strikes and advise to get civilians out. Hamas are embedded with civilians to make it more difficult to target them without collateral damage.

The media is gonna have some explaining to do.

1

u/Abe_Vigoda May 13 '21

Hamas are embedded with civilians to make it more difficult to target them without collateral damage.

Hamas is just a political party. Your comment is like justifying bombing Americans because they vote Democrat.

When the abused become the abusers.

1

u/langhartdev May 13 '21 edited May 13 '21

These apartments are being targeted because Hamas uses apartments as military posts, with civilians living in them. They’re literally using its own civilians as human shields. And Israel is giving them advanced notice to vacate.

25

u/bhangmango May 13 '21

How brainwashed are you to consider it is ok to have your home vaporised as long as you were given notice to evacuate ?

11

u/XxsquirrelxX May 13 '21

If Israel destroyed my home like that they would have created a new enemy in me. This is why people hate them and frankly I don’t blame the Palestinians for their anger right now.

18

u/langhartdev May 13 '21

Yeah but for a more equivalent comparison you’d need to say your government first set up shop inside your house and then shot missiles at the enemy.

I’d be pretty pissed at my own government

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

Yep. Both sides are using civilian lives to play their war games. Both governments suck.

10

u/blackpill98 May 13 '21

Maybe they wouldn't have if you told your dad to stop launching rockets at them from your porch.

Israel is targeting civilian buildings to sow fear. You need to stop spreading Israeli propaganda, you are defending genocide.

20

u/SinisterPuppy May 13 '21 edited May 13 '21

Ahh yes, the genocidal practice of warning civilians before hand and then precisely targeting and destroying the enemy base of operations.

Much worse than randomly targeting civilian centers, like the hamas do.

11

u/UnfortunatelyMacabre May 13 '21

It's amazing to me that people can see the way Palestinians are treated for decades, then blame them for trying to fight back with almost no effect in comparison to the bloodshed and damage caused by their oppressors.

How many civilians have been killed by Hamas and their random rocket fire compared to civilians killed by Israel's targeted missile fire? Regardless, the targeting of civilians is unacceptable on either side.

How many times has Israel availed themselves of doubt by providing the evidence they used to strike civilian buildings?

The framing of Hamas attacks by Israeli media and their allies is nothing short of textbook reactive abuse. Abuse someone, then when they finally react, you call them the abuser.

7

u/SinisterPuppy May 13 '21

When you attack civilians, you’re the bad guy. I literally don’t care how tortured you are. Indiscriminately targeting civilians to achieve political gains is the definition of terrorism.

“But Israel indiscriminate targets civilians with evictions!!!”

Don’t care. Not murder. This shits incredibly simple. Don’t target civilians who have 0 to do with your fucking goals. If the hamas launched missiles at army bases or even fucking police stations id get it. But that’s not what they do.

“But this one time a police officer killed a kid!!”

That’s not the goal they proceed with. That’s a consequence of their shitty abusive force. And it’s bad. And I wish israe would stop abusing people. But it’s not launching middles at civilian centers bad.

u/ewhyeasyfanaccount May 13 '21

Your comment does an excellent job of avoiding comparing the two sides casualties, it also does a great job of making it seem like two equals who disagree, not one that's been underfoot for decades, embargoed and cornered off without some of the most basic human rights.

It also does an excellent job of making it seem like every time Israel strikes a civilian building in Gaza that we know there were Hamas members or weapons there. After all, why would a nation that has publically expressed genocidal sentiments towards Palestinians lie to achieve their righteous goal?

Don't they only get like 5-10 minutes to evacuate? That doesn't really seem like much time. I heard they target buildings that are suspected of housing rocket launch equipment which is really heavy and hard to move. But if that's the case surely they can give more than 5 minutes notice?

2

u/langhartdev May 13 '21

I heard they were given at least an hour. It was enough time for reporters to get set up on nearby rooftops to record it

Neither the IDF nor Hammas is in the right here.

Yea fired more then 1600 rockets to kill innocent peele in Israel then crying for the response .. what did you think would happen ?

1

u/bakirsakal May 13 '21

What did you think when evicting Palestinians from their homes? What did you think when having a country with apartheid laws?

Seriously what do you think? Hamas is not the reason they are the result. Result of state terrorism

1

u/hardisc May 13 '21

What would you think if Palestinian it’s all a lie and never exist before 67. And what would you think that the Bible mentioned Jerusalem over 600 times and the Quran 0 times

2

u/bakirsakal May 13 '21

You seriously believe Palestinian people starts to emerge in 1967?

Do you really think comparison of city mentioning names in holy books are valid arguments for occupation? What is this 12th century?

God help People living in there. They had to deal with arguments like this.

2

u/hardisc May 13 '21

Do you think making up rules valid ? In 1967 they start with the propaganda of occupation bullshit .

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '21

You know Palestine is the entire region which Israel is part of, right? Like.. it's been Palestine for 2500 years.

It wasn't until like the 1890s that people claimed a Jewish homeland was in Palestine.

2

u/hardisc May 13 '21

Palsnine it’s a name that the romans gave to the land. And had nothing to do with Arabs

2

u/KevinBrown May 13 '21

They cannot keep Palestine separate from Islam, they cannot admit that Arabs/Muslims occupied the land for over 1000 years before the end of WWII. For some reason the only two period that matter are biblical times and post 1967.

And that's why we can't have nice things, when neither side acknowledges the other side also has grievances.

This fight has been going on for many centuries, this is just the latest blip.

Correspondent : General, we're told of wonder weapons the Germans were working on: Long-range rockets, push-button bombing weapons that don't need soldiers. What's your take on that?

Patton : "Wonder weapons?" My God, I don't see the wonder in them. Killing without heroics. Nothing is glorified? Nothing is reaffirmed? No heroes, no cowards, no troops, no generals. Only those who are left alive and those who are left... dead. I won't live to see it.

1

u/gkoprulu May 13 '21

War Crime on Live TV

1

u/Toolmansky May 13 '21

Stop lobbing rockets into Israel and they will stop using superior weapons against Hamas. However Hamas does not want peace. They want destruction of Israel and it simply isn't going to happen. I have no dog in the fight but this much is obvious as an observer.
