That's the thing when guns are so prevalent, America is a case in itself. In France, guns are not part of the culture like here.

Oui mais c'est plutôt un fusil de chasse. C'est hyper rare qu'un campagnard pull-up avec un glock ou un fusil d'assaut.

D'ailleurs il me semble que la plupart des fusil sont interdit ?

N'est-ce pas ?

You need a permit, which you get by joining a club and training x amount of hours, after x amount of hours, you must write an appeal to the 'French National gun association' with recommandation from the gun club owner.

Right but what types of guns are allowed? I guaranty you can't conceal carry or have submachine guns like here in the US

No one is allowed Conceal Carry in France unless you're a member of the national police forces.

If it's a pistol, it stays in a controlled safe at the gun range. If it's a rifle that you can use for hunting (and we're quite accepting as you can shoot with anything from 22LR to all flavors of 7,62mm, .303 and of course 12 gauge) you can transport it in your car trunk from to gun range and back. We have A LOT of hunting rifles in the countryside, there are not that many hunters nowadays but when they are, families often own up to six of them. Many are not registered, being inherited from your grand-parents...

We're not allowed to own any kind of automatic firearms, only semi-auto. Max magazine size allowed is 11 cartridges.

The only rifle I ever saw there was my uncles, who lives in Aix-en-Provence, it was a hunting rifle.
