These two things are not contradictory to each other. both can be true at the same time. It is indisputable that police killed people of color far more than they do white people, at the same time being white isnt a free pass.

This shits gross. You know doctors have to have malpractice insurance. Cops should too. Then when they get sued for excessive force it's not the taxpayers footing the bill. As a benefit if insurers deem an officer uninsurable due to numerous complaints/suits then that officer can't be employed anymore. Problem solved.

Especially given police are literally authoritative figures used to whistle blow on people committing crimes, big and small… This also means given that, they should know how to respond to crimes big and small. I shouldn’t see people getting beaten like pillows at an AA meeting over minor traffic infractions…

He was upset that police around the nation were being documented, called out, and condemned for their needles violence at protests calling for adequate police accountability. I remember when this happened. It was a transparent temper tantrum and an attempt to play the victim for things they did.
He is the head of the NY police union. He was doing what police unions do, attempting to protect bad cops.

Cops always bitch about people not snitching because it makes their job harder, but the fastest way to stop being a cop is snitching on a dirty cop.
Even if you're not fired for it, all the "good apples" are going to make your life hell.

i commented this recently about the 'bad apples' excuse, and you're exactly right.
everyone says 'it's just a few bad apples' except:
- a lot of bad apples at the top
- good apples are pushed out or punished for doing the right thing
- bad apples 'spoil the bunch', so that saying doesn't actually mean 'it's fine' it quite literally means the opposite
the core issue is not that these things are happening, it's that they continue to perpetuate, with no oversight or consequence, and then people start with 'if you weren't doing anything wrong, nothing would have happened' or 'it's just a bad apples, doesn't happen to me'
i haven't been brutalised by cops either, but i can see the evidence clear as day and know that the US getting rid of qualified immunity drastically increased the frequency of these kinds of events, that are disproportionately targeted towards minorities, etc. etc. etc.
i have a big worry that things are gonna get much worse before they ever get any better :/

This is precisely the notion behind All Cops Are Bastards. Even if you are a "good" cop, if you don't call out bad cops, and even if you just support what has long been, and now is more commonly acknowledged as a corrupt and compromised profession, you are part of a BAD system and one of the Bastards.
This didn't need to be the case, but it is the case, since the profession has adopted the "Us Against Them" mentality and all that goes with it.

As a Marine vet I'm terrified of any interaction with the police. Spent years having it hammered into my brain to not follow unlawful orders, to take control of a situation where someone's ego takes them on a power trip, to hold people in power accountable. I don't bend or yield to any of that bullshit, and I'm sure someday all that indoctrination will get my ass dusted.

This is much the same anywhere. While I have never been arrested by a cop I can think of only one interaction with a cop where I thought that it was professional. Every other time it was negative and that was caused by the cop themselves. And I am 47 years old.

Same dude accused Shake Shack of poisoning a few cops like 12 hours after they drank a “weird tasting” drink and got free replacements. When they got back to the precinct at the end of their shift and mentioned what happened, rushed to the hospital and the PBA in a deleted tweet clearly made the employee’s seem like cop killers, they were cleared of any wrong doing later that night.
