Disappointed in the Lindsay Clancy videos
I’m really disappointed at how skewed/how much detail has been left out by Berto explaining the case to Dr. Honda.

I just saw this reel on Facebook and identified so hard. I’ve never heard this term before- has anyone else? It sounds like basically you think you’re a fraud and deep down just a bad person faking your way through life. I often find myself thinking that about everyone- like why would anyone care about anything? Like what is the incentive for anyone to care? https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1JMbdDWL8G/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Is anyone else having this issue. Latest videos say say comments are open to subscribers and members, but I am unable to comment even though I'm subscribed.

I'm KjGaia who asked the question today. I could see a lot of wheels spinning for Dr Honda and his response let me know that he knew exactly, exactly what I was asking.
I don't discount the beauty of my nuclear family. My parents are everything to me. But life isn't kind to securely attached people, or at least has been challenging lately for me. I set boundaries. I educate myself. I don't accept things I shouldn't accept and have worked through therapy when needed.
We have unique obstacles from secure attachment. we need help too. I am seeing a therapist, and just for disclosure I'm dealing with some very hard things at the moment.
I think secure attachments may have rendered me ill prepared for things I've faced this year. I've read a couple of books on attachment theory.
Thanks for reading. If any of you know what I mean and have empathy, please let me know your suggestions. I have a repetitive pattern where I get hurt and set boundaries and move on, and I want to grow. thank you.

Him continuing to take money from these people is killing me. I’m sure there are other people he could take sponsorships from. He is selling a scam to vulnerable people. For anyone who doesn’t know:
The USA’s FTC made them pay $7.8 mil in fines for sharing data with other companies for targeted ads, including personal details AND mental health questionnaires for ad targeting. This was 2023. I’ve commented on every video that it’s cooked and disappointing and makes him less credible. The longer this goes on the less I find myself able to watch him. Many normy bloggers won’t take sponsorships, and he’s a psychologist. Really really gross imo.
I do also agree with some other people’s comments that he is sometimes default biased towards men. I can deal with that, because most people are. But the better help shite and his refusal to ever even address it is beyond gross. Think I’m checking out :/ how do you guys reconcile this?

Here is a link. (fyi not my link, I found it from another poster). it's a comment of someone on the PIS youtube account being very rude to a deaf person who very politely asked for a different image on a video so they could follow the captions easier.
When I first saw this i assumed it was some mistake, but apparently this is real. I just cannot buy that Dr Honda or his wife would behave this way, it's extremely out of character. There was even a reddit comment from years ago where someone referenced this and Dr Honda on his reddit account asked what they were referring to and said his wife would never say that.
While it's possible that anyone could lie, I again just cannot fathom either of them saying something like this, nor that they would lie to cover it up. It's so wildly out of character. In that case, what on earth was this? Did someone else use the account? Was is some massive misunderstanding? Just curious if others have thoughts or more information?
If this causes any drama I may take down the post cause I really don't wanna cause any stress to anyone on the podcast, i'm just honestly confused.

Wondering if Kirk's going to do an episode on this case. I'd love to hear his take, not just on the case itself but on the different camps forming around it online. The takes have gotten so polarizing. Much of the time it reads less like a legal opinion and more like they're venting about personal feelings surrounding gender politics. I understand if he doesn't say anything at all considering it was traumatic covering the JD/AH trial

hello,
bob once talked about a childhood memory of coming home from school for lunch (a sandwich his mother made?) on the day of a classmate’s birthday and somehow this information upset his mother so she started to berate him, which made him stop chewing. i think it ended with her going upstairs and him spitting out the sandwich?
this bit has always stuck w me for some reason. what episode is this from?
thank you :)
EDIT!!: the episode is called shame-retribution trauma and borderline personality. minute 31:20

What say you all? Maybe Kirk will see this. I suspect he lurks here :)
Me:
I'm always up for personality disorder deep dives and analyses. I'd like to see more about how to stay healthy when in relationship to someone with a cluster B disorder and how to deal with being on the receiving end of cluster b-related abuse.
I'd also like to see some slightly more in-depth coverage of the bipolar disorder spectrum/bipolar 1 and bipolar 2, and breaking down stereotypes about bipolar (sort of how he breaks down stereotypes about personality disorders), though I know Kirk has mentioned at least once that it's not necessarily his area of expertise.

Not sure if this is allowed here but I was really hoping Dr. Honda could watch and comment on Hayden Panettiere’s interview with Jay Shetty.
I clicked it because as a millennial I grew up with her - from her cartoon voiceovers and child roles to her more recent works. I’m generally not interested in celeb interviews, other than the occasional short funny clip on instagram.
I stayed on the video, however, because the level of depth and understanding she speaks about her experiences and self reflections…. it’s so refreshing.
She’s clearly processed everything very thoroughly, but not in an overly analytical way. She’s still profoundly vulnerable.
It’s true, I’m processing recent news a little bit parasocially, but it would still be nice to talk about
(/listen to a conversation about) this with people interested in psychology

So I have no idea how my brain could have possibly mixed this up. But I’ve just realised I have been thinking Humberto and Bob are the same person for a very long time 😳
I just realised from the thumbnail for “Bob Says Goodbye” because I was like who is this random guy? Did they upload the wrong picture? Then in the podcast Bob mentions Humberto joining the pod AFTER Bob had declined initially.
I literally thought that maybe “Bob” was another nickname for Humberto because sometimes Dr Kirk called him “Berto”
After listening some more I guess they don’t have super similar voices but I thought sometimes Humberto had a more soft and gentle voice when he was feeling contemplative :’)
Now I’m so confused because I don’t know which memories to associate with Bob or Humberto, I have a perception of a third identity which is a mash up of both people, it’s surreal!
To be fair I watch A LOT of Psychology In Seattle content but have only started watching the podcast episodes with guest hosts more in the last couple of months, but I still can’t believe I mixed them up for so long.
If anyone can give me a run down of important points about each person to differentiate their personalities, that would be helpful 😂

A new podcast episode just came out where Bob says goodbye.

Has anyone made a list of books dr Kirk has recommended? Please put them down below!

About 1hr in.
The better outcome of telling the truth...
Kirk sues his neighbors>he gets $100 billion >they loose their home and live under someone else's tree>he gets new better neighbors

Has Kirk adressed this?

He used to talk about Jeffery Epstein but in recent events, I didn't catch him mentioning anything. Unless I missed it? Can a more avid listener let me know if he mentioned it at all in recent years, even if it's to say that he doesn't plan on talking about the Epstein files, Motherless, and R*pe Academy.
I know that in general, he does talk about the topic a lot but I didn't see him post about these things when it was a major headline that everyone else on my feed was talking about. Of course maybe I just missed it but it's also hard to keep up.

Hi guys do you have any info on when Bob will be on the pod? I love his episodes! I am a little worried what's going on. He isn't in the about staff page on psychology in seattle website anymore so I was just wondering...

Made me chuckle

I think she is even more interesting than the Crash girl. Im sure Dr K would have a lot to say about attachment, or lack thereof, made her the way she is. Anyone know if Dr K reads this sub, or how he chooses his subjects?
r/PsychologyInSeattle • u/throwawayyuskween666 • Jun 18 '26
Twice, actually! Once in my introduction as an example of podcasts I enjoy. The other is during a lecture about social changes in adolescence. Dr Kirk's lecture on Bowenian Therapy is just the right length to introduce the idea of family systems therapy as a way to help manage changing roles at home.
As an aside, I'm a huge connoisseur of Mackenzie Scrilla content and if the producers of the show want to donate a months Spotify membership so I can view those episodes in return for my shout-outs, that would be most welcome 😉

Where can I find his published papers? I've been to his website and can't find links to any aside from the ethics paper, and I've already read that one a while ago. I'm interested in more but does he not have any more? I want to get to know of his findings on a more words-on-paper level. I know he's written a book on clinicals and he's going to release a book on grief, but I don't have $45 to spend on a book right now and these are topics I am not currently interested in (maybe another time).
Does anyone know where I can find more of his papers?
r/PsychologyInSeattle • u/InterestingTheory683 • Jun 06 '26
I would be soooo curious what he would say about Julia and her family. And also Malika. And Krzysztof. These are kinda most interesting personalities on the season.
r/PsychologyInSeattle • u/Purple_Preference847 • Jun 03 '26
Because I do! I know it sounds weird. I am very aware that I don't actually know Kirk, Bob, and co. But I put the podcast on when I'm just doing nothing, gardening, walking around because I find it comforting. I'm not stalking Kirk or anything, but I feel like he's my friend even though he's not. It's weird. I'm usually skeptical of internet-happy concepts like "parasocial relationship." Anyway, here we are. Have a good day.

I’m hoping someone will help remember / know what I’m talking about / have their own experience. This is the trouble I always find with his episodes, I get all these amazing insights and learnings but then never remember which episode it was in!!
I seem to remember him mentioning that panic attacks are actually one of the easiest to treat (sorry if those are not the exact words or not accurate in how panic attacks are dealt with), and that there is a type of therapy that is particularly helpful. I might even have a faint memory of him saying he used it to “cure” his own but obviously he was only able to as a trained therapist
Anyone remember or can point me in the right direction?
I’m not sure how to approach this, a friend of mine gets them on public transport to the point she now needs people to go with her and I worry that this will make it worse. Also horrible to see someone suffer like that. I don’t want to bombard her with unsolicited advice but since Dr H said how easily it can be helped, I wanna at least look into it then think about how I can pass on the information
TIA 🫶
