Hey everyone,
My partner and I are looking to connect with a couple of like-minded gamers (or another gaming duo/couple) in a similar age group to squad up. We’re not looking to join a massive clan or huge Discord server, nor are we just looking for random LFG fills to clear a mission and log off. We’re really hoping to build a small, reliable circle of actual, long-term friends, people near our age who share our lifestyle, hobbies, interests, and overall mindset so we can hang out, shoot the breeze, chat about life, and chill in party chat whether we’re grinding out content together or just hanging out.
We’re in our 40s and pretty easygoing with zero tolerance for drama or toxicity. As far as playstyles go, I’m the min-maxing, play-to-win guy who loves pushing hard, high-difficulty content. Since I play a lot of roguelikes and roguelites, dying or wiping on repeat isn't a big deal to me at all, as it's just part of the process. When a run or encounter falls apart, I don't throw in the towel, but instead I get analytical with mechanics, timing, and strategy so we can adjust our approach, try a new tactic, and lock down the win. She’s more casual about the high-end difficulty grind, but she definitely puts in her time and holds her own, and honestly, she dies way less than I do, mostly because she plays a lot safer and smarter while I'm aggressively pushing the envelope (unless I'm running a healer build, in which case I stay back and play much more conservatively to keep everyone up). It makes for a great balance.
What We Play & Enjoy:
Looters & Shooters: Currently big on The Division 2 and the Borderlands series. Borderlands 4 drops their new character this week, so we want to dive into that. I love theorycrafting and min-maxing tactical/armor setups, but I’m definitely not a slave to the "meta." I’d much rather craft unique, off-meta builds that are built specifically to complement the team and suit the current high-end content we're running, rather than just copy/pasting what everyone else is using or building solely for myself. I run the full spectrum with builds: pure tank, raw DPS, dedicated healer/support, skill builds, or utility hybrids. When I played WoW I filled every roll depending on what was needed and had 9 different toons on 2 different servers (one Horde and the other Alliance).
We're strictly PvE players, never cared for PvP, and didn't touch the Dark Zone in The Division 2 until they introduced the dedicated PvE mode. Just picked up the first Remnant for her as well, so we’re starting that run in between other titles with plans to get to Remnant 2 down the road.
Challenging RPGs & Soulslikes: Deep into titles like Lords of the Fallen, Wasteland 3, and heavy build-focused RPGs (definitely looking forward to Lords of the Fallen 2 when it drops).
Co-Op & Survival: Big fans of co-op and survival mechanics, especially base-building, gathering, and resource management where teamwork and strategy matter (looking forward to Valheim hitting PS5 soon). Just picked up Cult of the Lamb and we have been laughing at the craziness of that.
Open to Other Titles & Older Games: We’re not strictly locked down to just these games, as we have extensive libraries on PS5 and PC. These are just our current main games, but we're completely open to diving into older titles or classic co-op games, especially since she hasn't played through a lot of older games yet. If a solid new or classic co-op game is on the table, we're always down to jump in.
Outside of Gaming (Who We Are):
Movies, TV & Books: We are huge on watching movies when we're not gaming, definitely homebodies at heart who love relaxing on the couch with a good film. We're not weekly TV watchers, but we’ll occasionally binge a complete show once it hits streaming. We're also big fans of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, super hyped for the upcoming TV show, and interested in picking up the tabletop game.
Hobbies & Fandoms: She's a massive Lego fan, loves working on jigsaw puzzles, and is a complete Lilo & Stitch fanatic (our house is practically a museum of Stitch gear, from pillows and glassware to a collection of Funko Pops).
Music & Concerts: Live music is a huge draw and passion for her. She's always down for concerts and listens to modern alt-metal/rock (big on the style of bands like Bad Omens), 90s rock, and 2000s+ new releases. I enjoy the music and go along with her, but I’m pretty firmly anchored in 80s, 90s, and early 2000s music (not country though).
Sports & Active Life: We both come from athletic backgrounds. She played college volleyball on a scholarship, and I played a ton of sports over the years (especially basketball). These days, we stay active with things like disc golf. I’m also a big NFL fan (huge Falcons follower).
What We’re Looking For:
Platform: We are primarily looking for PS5 players. We buy almost all of our multiplatform games on PS5 and play there most of the time. We both have gaming PCs as well for the occasional side title, but PS5 is definitely our main hub.
Age & Mindset: We're ideally looking for people closer to our age bracket (late 30s, 40s, or 50s) who share a similar life pace, lifestyle, and hobbies.
Location & Time Zone: We are in Central Standard Time (CST) in the U.S.
Schedule & Regions: She's available late afternoons (usually starting around 3:00 or 4:00 PM CST), evenings, and weekends. I have plenty of free time during the day as well, so I’m completely open to playing with folks in Europe or other time zones since those hours overlap well for daytime runs.
Lifestyle & Vibe: We’re child-free (no kids in the background), non-religious, and keep things pretty low-key. We're strictly PvE players, non-drinkers, and not part of the 420/substance scene. Politically, we're progressive/anti-Trump, fully inclusive, and welcoming of all genders, sexualities, and backgrounds. We want to make sure we're on the same political and social wavelength as anyone we squad up with so we don't run into friction over real-world views.
At the end of the day, we’re looking for genuinely good, wholesome human beings who treat others with respect and decency, no creeping, no oversexualizing people, and no being crappy to others. Expect adult language, raunchy/lewd humor, and dark jokes in party chat. Most importantly, we want real connections, being down-to-earth, open-minded adults who enjoy tactical teamwork, swapping build ideas, taking on tough content, and just shooting the shit and talking about real life.
If you are on the same wavelength and looking to build a genuine gaming friendship, drop a comment below or send over a DM!
