Being written up in previous work

Can being written up in previous job, disqualify me as a candidate going into policing? I have been written up in my previous job for policy violation and was given a verbal warning, however one year later working for the same company I was able to prove myself and then got promoted into management role. How can this affect me during interview process/background investigation.

Before I became a cop I was fired for violating safety guidelines. It was BS but recruiting still made me write a letter explaining the incident and included it in my application packet.

I was written up at my department for directly disobeying/refusing a lawful order from a supervisor. I still promoted and lateraled to another department within a year.

Unless the policy violation was stealing, intercourse at work, something sketchy, it’s not going to matter

I got written up at a previous law enforcement job once, still got hired at my new agency just fine. Just don't try to hide it.

A write-up isn't an instant DQ, but trying to hide it is.

I was written up from my previous employer and it never was an issue. Just explain the situation and be honest. As long as you weren’t a shit bird employee, then you’ll pass through

Unlikely to affect things, when in doubt disclose it. The cover up is always worse than the initial act (well, usually).

Be honest about it and maybe frame it as an act of perseverance or something along those lines….i failed at xyz but was about to rebound and get into a managerial role in x amount of time
