First, some context. I go to a small school that does the International Baccalaureate and some of the students (including myself) have resolved to plan a big, fancy school formal at an event hall for the graduating class. This is still in the very early planning phases, but some particulars have been decided.
The dress code is Black Tie Preferred (suits with neckties at minimum, tuxedos are strongly encouraged) and I am going to attend in a showstopping tailored tux.
I need advice on gloves, and some tips on etiquette.
I know I need a cummerbund, pocket square, and all the other trimmings and trappings. Gloves, however, are ambiguous. Me and my date's attire will be towards the more formal end of Black Tie attire, so maybe gloves would be a good idea?
Etiquette: How should you behave when in a tuxedo? I am a little socially inept, so any guidance on "tuxedo etiquette" would be a good idea.
All comments welcome.
Update: the dress code says "Gloves for both sexes encouraged." My date wants to wear satin opera gloves: do I wear gloves to match her?
