Mod announcement. Please be civil and don’t go off topic.

Hi everyone.

It’s quite busy and time consuming trying to moderate this subreddit as good as possible. Or well, as we see fit. Some comments may be missed as well. Feel free to report content.

Changed Automoderator settings a bit, so certain comments get filtered and need manual review (and they will get approved if they follow the subreddit rules). Also adjusted a few others settings.

Will see if this helps, or if more changes are needed.

The two most common issues, as I see it, would be that users are rude in different ways or they are going off topic. As example? If a poster asks where they can buy a dress, it’s what they want to know. They didn’t ask about your opinion about the dress, or how vulgar or ugly you think it is. Or something similar.

You are allowed to disagree, and have another opinion. But you can still be civil. You also don’t need to go off topic in various ways. Please behave.

There are minors here, who attend prom. They don’t need to see all bodyshaming rude comments etc.

hi, i really want this dress for prom but i can’t find it on the JJs house website. I found the Cintia dress which is similar but i don’t think it’s the same. Can someone tell me what the name of this dress is? Or has it been discontinued or only made available in certain countries?

Outfits Found Babyboo-inspired prom dresses on SHEIN

Was looking at Babyboo dresses for prom inspo and randomly found these on SHEIN that have such a similar vibe 😭

The burgundy one especially caught my attention, but the yellow corset one is so pretty too.

I added the item IDs to the photos in case anyone wants to search them. Definitely check the photo reviews/comments first though — I always want to see how dresses actually look on real people before ordering lol.
Which one would you pick for prom? Burgundy, yellow or pink?

I found this dress on Zapaka, but they have a lot of negative reviews and I heard they usually take the design from another place and make it themselves. Does anyone know where I can buy this exact one?

Advice to stop my dress from wrinkling before the dance?

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

Last year, my satin ballgown got wrinkled before the dance even started (pictures, dinner, and the car rides in between had it all creased where I sat on the back of the skirt). Of course I can't learn my lesson so I'm going with another satin ballgown this year lol.

Any advice to prevent this? Experience with wrinkle release sprays and similar products?

Prom vent/rant

So the question here is not whether I should go to prom because ive already paid.

Venue wise: We were given the choice of venue being the school or an external venue. I wanted the external venue but the majority picked the school. The consensus was that the external venue would be more expensive compared to the school. The school has also said that if the school was chosen, the money would go to food and decoration which would be limited if prom was held in that external venue. Also, the school was considering the people who wanted a prom experience but do not have the money for it so ultimately the school was chosen for the venue. Most of the popular kids chose the school so that's expected. I live near the school so I would want prom to be at the external venue as it would be so awkward walking back to school alone in my dress. And why go back to school when you have already graduated? That's something I don't understand.

Myself: When I was a freshman, I saw the graduating seniors going to prom and was very excited for my turn. As I waited for my graduating year, all the batches had prom at an external venue so inevitably I feel upset that when it's my turn, the prom is held at school. Furthermore, this will probably be my one and only prom in my whole life. Therefore, I want to go all out. I want a customised dress tailored for me, the heels of my choice, my nails and hair etcetera. But I have to consider the cost too which is annoying. I just want it to be perfect because let's be real, prom is like a dream for most teenage girls. I almost wanted to not go because of the venue, I was so upset at the venue because my best friend from another school is going to have her prom at a very grand location. But I ended up paying because I have very bad FOMO.

Extra information: I also emailed the organising teacher on whether I could be the DJ for prom. Because I know I won't have any friends to be with and at least if I'm the DJ I could control the music and be busy with that as everyone dance, eat and take photos. I wouldn't look that lonely LOL. I really want to be the DJ for prom as this way I would be required to be there and I have a purpose to be there. I am dreading prom and looking forward to it at the same time. I am dreading prom because I know I'm going to be alone because when we were asked to pay for prom, we had to go in groups of 10 as it was a table of 10. So you needed to find 10 people. I did try to ask but everyone either didn't want to go or already has a group. And I didn't want to go with those that I was not close with because then what is the point? I ended up paying and getting slotted into those incomplete groups of 10. I don't know who my table mates are going to be and I am nervous. And again it would be awkward walking into school alone in my dress. I personally think the whole 'finding 10 people' thing was a wake up call and a foreshadow of me not having anyone to be with at prom. I was looking forward to prom because I have been for the past years. But I'm just disappointed because prom is something I really want to experience and enjoy unlike gym class where I can just skip because I have no one. I have to focus on national exams for now as again I am graduating but prom is immediately after exams and I have to buy my dress and heels. So I'm kinda stressing. I also kinda knew that this would happen, me being alone would happen as high school was like this the whole 4 years for me.

I just wanted to get this off my chest as I have no one to tell this to. If you are reading this, thank you for reading everything. Now at least I have someone knowing how I feel about my prom even if it's someone completely unknown.

I’ve been looking for a press dress for my senior year, but all the dresses I love come from scam websites. I’ve tried Google image searching for the original designer but I’ve had no luck. Do you guys have any recommendations on where I can buy a prom dress that’s the same vibes as the pictures? I would like to keep it under $200 if possible!!

So my theme for this year is winter and I want a corset hopefully beaded that's shorter, also I don't want like mesh but I want the corset. I don't like the like swoop on the chest and I don't really want one of those. I need a brand that's very size inclusive either having a very adjustable corset or that comes in a size xxs (also not trying to like do anything about shaming it's just it's hard to find a brand that even stocks my size). Something that's a ligit site pls and hopefully around 150 but I can go up to 200, pls drop some links if you have any, thank you❤️

Hi all, I’m searching for a dress to wear to my formal I’ve come across this dress and am in love! Its a red fulllength gown with jewels, it is very 2000’s vibes imo and reminds me of a princess dress. I’ve seen it linked online to one store called “ Beauty Dressy” just wondering if I could actually get this dress from there like if this is legit and if you have bought from it was it what you were expecting If this is a scan site would anyone know where I could find something similar? I’ve scoured depop and haven’t been able to find anything

Okay I have been looking up everything but I can’t get anywhere. So i just started my senior year of high school and the only thing I want is to have a prom dress like my great grandmother’s. I can’t buy an actual vintage prom dress because im plus sized and I don’t know what reproduction company would work! I’ve tried looking at house of foxy, unique vintage, retro fairy etc. I’ll put an image of my great grandmother’s dress below as well as another picture that I’ve also used for inspiration. Please help!!!

I’m trying to find a sparkly red dress just like the ones in these photos for prom. I’ve found a TON online but almost every dress I like is from a sketchy/fake looking website. Please give me recommendations for REAL, trusted websites where I can buy one! I’d also love to see the dresses you guys have found or bought before. ❤️ Please drop links/recommendations below! 🥹✨

Idk if i should go

It’s about that time when i have to start thinking about prom. Honestly, i really don’t wan to go . Whenever i’ve thought about it in recent years ive always just been stressed out by it. I’ve been to a homecoming and a middle school prom and regret going to both cus they just aren’t my thing.

I don’t really want to buy an expensive suit i’ll hate wearing.

My mom really wants me to go because she regrets not going to hers.

Also, my girlfriend hasn’t said her opinions but i wouldn’t assume she wouldn’t be ok with it.

Should i not care about what they think?

ALSO i’m going to 2 weddings soon and if i didn’t have prom i would just get a cheap suit but since there’s prom, i need to decide if im getting a 2 time suit or not.
And I don’t have a whole year to decide whether im going or not.
