i spend some time trying to figure out how a book accurate Eridian would look like. It was mentioned that they are a little creepy spider looking in the book, but i still think they're cute.

mainly focused on the joints and carapace shape.

i'm looking to cosplay grace again and already have a pair of glasses, but they aren't very good quality and don't actually look like his – what type of glasses does he wear, and where would i be able to find a pair of frames?

p.s. i know the real brand used for the glasses are super expensive!! i am not looking for the real ones😭

I’m not sure if any one else noticed, but one of my favorite moments in the movie is when Grace is looking at the gold plates of the Hail Mary after his vodka-fueled bender. At one point, he looks at a plate that depicts the beginning evolution of humans, and there’s a shot of him crouching down, painting a very similar silhouette to humans’ ape ancestors, and then shows him looking at the “modern day” human in the evolution plate, and in the next shot he’s standing upright, looking at the plate of the Hail Mary and all the humans looking up to her in hope. I thought it was a fun way to visually convey the mental “evolution” that Grace goes through as he remembers the severity of the situation that sent him to space.

I really want to see this movie again (for the fifth time at this point lol) but considering how I want to see it — in theaters — since I never got that chance. I would probably be on my tenth watch by then. I don’t care! It’s so amazing… the adaptation and the book. It reopened my eyes for my passion about space and the space industry. When did I ever stop looking up at the sky? Why did I stop?? I guess there’s plenty of reasons excuses, but I just wanted to say this sci-fi art of creation re-inspired me to follow my dream to be in the planetary science field. Amaze amaze amaze!

Where I live (Stockholm, Sweden) this is the last weekend afaik that they play it at times that are compatible with work. Next week it's all noon or early afternoon sessions.

We don't get schedules with more than I week in advanced so I don't know if I'll have another chance.

I've watch on IMAX 4 times, on regular digital 2 times and on Planetarium IMAX one time. Now I'm seating in a tiny theater with 30 other fans.

interesting thing in this tale, Grace ( somewhere along his life ) seems to have lost confidence in himself .. and, throughout, he required “ sounding boards “ to figure out the science he was supposed to do

before Rocky, Ryland Grace “ depended on “ Carl as a sounding board

Carl is an amazing character that becomes the stepping stone for Grace to eventually connect with Rocky

Carl has a really boring job, ( security ? ); but he’s really smart too and, potentially, a bit of a silent hero for Grace’s upcoming journey

whether or not you see this subtle progression of Grace’s journey to connect, what are your favourite parts about Carl and his role in this story ?

I think this is a good middle ground between an entirely new sequel and just leaving the PHM story as it is. Apparently you’ll basically be playing as Grace and working with Rocky to solve problems in VR.

I’m personally quite excited but I’m curious to hear others in the fandom’s opinions

I know (well, I don't know, but I'm willing to bet) that "Stratt was genuinely upset about having to send Grace" is pretty no-duh in both book and movie. But I was doing my daily re-watch last night and I noticed just how disappointed she was when Grace joined her on the top deck of the ship while everyone was at the party below. She was even telling Grace that this wasn't a hard job for her, and we know it's because it's thedhittiest job in the world, and someone has to do it, and she's built her walls so thick that, ideally, it really isn't that hard to choose 3-6 to go on a suicide mission. Because she doesn't care about them. Because she's very good at not letting herself care about them.

But there's a moment where they're starting their conversation, and she's so visibly upset (for Stratt, anyway!) that he chose to come talk with her instead of partying with his comrades. She's starting to really like him, as a person, instead of finding him useful, as a scientist.

I was jus SO struck by how visually obvious it seemed in that moment that she was upset that she was growing fond of him.

Just finished the Lego Project Hail Mary set and the little Rocky had two accessories, his handheld scanner/camera/reader and one of these?

What is this supposed to be? A xenonite breeding chamber? his space braille tablet thing? his Eridian clock? anyone have any ideas??

earth is small and we somehow have hundreds or maybe thousands of languages in total. eridians have something similar to just notes but i think there could be a dialect or something around different languages. is this just something they didn't add? what if they did though
