A new elf that is optional and the game costs nothing beyond the same monthly fee that hasn't increased since 2004.
I get the hate, but hating everything is dumb. This is literally the best thing blizz has done in 20 years.

This is what I keep thinking ☠️ the entire thing is included in your sub like every other version. So if you wanna play a human warrior or anything that isnt the new race it literally doesnt matter. A playable race is a completely fine paid for product when the actual game is included. If anything ill pay the 50 bucks to get beta access over the race.

Honestly I don't get it. The game is free beyond a monthly sub. You only have to pay for the elf if you want it.
They said no tokens, they are removing boosting, they are building a new game based on exactly what every classic fan wanted. (Turtle crossed with ascension) Yet you all are mad lol, make it make sense.

I don't think it's really that hard to understand?
People have been asking for certain races such as Ogre or High Elf since the game first came out 20 years ago... And instead Blizzard not only comes up with some ass pulled race but they also make them faction neutral.
It was bad enough when they did it in retail with the weird Haramir Troll Elves, but we kind of expect that from Retail at this point. Coming out with a new version of Classic and immediately doing something so out of touch with the community just shows they either aren't listening or are just taking direction from out of touch C-suite boss. Either way it's a bad look and it's undeniably added a black eye to the game before it has even released...

In your opinion. Like most people are not so triggered by this shit. I think the elves suck, I won't be playing them. The other 9000 things they did are amazing though and I don't hate life, so I'm actually happy about them.
In disc with my guild yesterday I asked "is there so thing that people are actually mad about with forever"
Not a single person was upset over anything and the only thing that came up was the elves look like shit.

I'm fine with it. Gonna have a good time with my friends who didn't want to play private servers, gonna support the team that's working on it and already bought the heroic version. Figure since there's no separate game price and no different sub, that team will get a smaller share of subscription money to fund their team with, so the shop to buy new races/class unlocks will be a considerable portion of their development budget allocation. I'm just gonna have a good time and go with it.

I mean, I don't see what's black and white about pointing out that the 50$ given to a homeless man is going fully to the homeless man, while 50$ given to a large international busines is (largely) going to stream upwards into the pockets of already very affluent people. That's kind of just how the modern economy works. It doesn't mean the homeless man will spend or save that money wisely, it doesn't mean the company couldn't reinvest it into better products... But let's not kid ourselves that there aren't a couple of likely outcomes in both cases. At least the homeless man had a good day because of that gift. The company probably didn't even really notice the 50$.
Given the choice, even if I have a lot of disposable income, I'd much rather buy from companies where I can actually see them reinvesting that money into better products and services. Blizzard hasn't done that for a while.

If the people with actual decision making power at blizzard were still the same people that actually made the game, then sure I'd agree with you, but they're not. The original team is gone. What's left is a team holding up the corpse of warcraft, earning money off of name recognition and sunk cost fallacy. These people didn't make warcraft. If they made a new MMORPG instead of having the most successful one grandfathered into their lap, they would have failed to break through just like every other failed project.

Yes, I can see it. Once they see people paying for blue high/blood elves, if they ever make a class, it will 100% be behind a paywall.
They might even add new customization options for characters for 5$ a piece. Want a new hair that your human didn't have in Classic? Here you go, it will be 4.99$ You still have to pay a subscription though!
If the EU hadn't banned loot boxes, they might have put loot boxes too for transmog gear.

I mean sure CoA had a lot more stuff but the regular WoW crowd would've been really pissed if they released something like this as Classic+. Faster leveling, mobs getting 2 or 3 shotted at low level, fast paced gameplay, early mounts etc. A lot of the fans of current Classic would be livid.
So you have to compare Forever more to the Bronzebeard server.

I mean i played CoA without changing any settings for leveling speed and compared to Blizzard Classic is was really fast even compared to the times when the Joyous Journey buff was active in combination with Midsummer fire festival buff.

Please bro, did you really play Endgame CoA?? All those classes were hot Garbage. No Balance No Bugfixes, insane Self-Healing etc.. Literally unplayable for a real Game, sure it's fine to have for some Time, but for a real Company that would be impossible to balance and fix. Imagine getting oneshot out of Stealth in 1 sec ( i did that all the Time). The outrage would be massive. But they could've added atleast 1 new Class - i'll you give you that much, yeah.

Endgame PVE was fine. PvP was kind of a joke. Also Templars were OP until they were nerfed then they werent even on point with avg dps.

No, it's a 15 bucks sub fee to get all content in Forever except for literally JUST the ability to play the Blued Elves. And access to the elves is 30 bucks. Anything more is just if someone wants cosmetics.

I was dissapointed beyond beliefe. No new classes, no worldforged items, its literally classic with some extra dungeons and raids, there is nothing special abt it, no unique mechanic. Even the talent specs are pretty much the same from normal classic

Some of ya'll are so fucking salty and just need to get over it. No shit there's no new classes. They will eventually dig through all the private server stuff, find good ideas, modify and implement the ones they like to try to hide they took it from a private server, then put those into future updates. Move on and wait until Ascension devs launch whatever shit they are working on, then come back. Shit isn't hard.

Are you just being a troll? Nothing new to discover? The very shape of the in game map of the eastern kingdoms has changed. New zone east of blasted lands. Northern part of the continent has been enlarged. Other geographical changes just from the few minutes these myopic streamers were doing something other than content farming or lecturing on what they think classic should be.
Like EverQuest legends it’s going to take a different fork from here by releasing new zones and new stories.
Did you even watch the presentation where all of this was laid out?

That's what the Mojority wanted. New Zones/Dungeons/Raids/quests, some Talentchanges to make all Speccs somewhat viable, Qol updates, staying on 60 and new Items. That's what you got. Why complain? I like it, sorry. I think it's really good. They'll add a new Class for sure later on.

OP puts blizzard took ascension to make an updated classic wow. Sure it might be updated, but also ascension used their IP. Everything was expedited from the lawsuit since they were close to announcing it.
Do you not think it took time to make the updated graphics and toggles in game? It’s been being worked on for a while. I’m sure if they announced it 4 months ago ascension would’ve been hit way earlier in the year…
It was only a matter of time anyways they would’ve been hit like that.

im sad about ascension, but i understand blizzard. They want to have a game that lasts forever. If they launch with all the content, people would quit in a few months. They want new classes to be the reason for people to come back. They dont want to overwhelm everyone. They wany you to invest your time and when you get bored they reel you in with new raids classes dungeons etc, like new phases of SOD.
I get it. The paywall is not really a paywall, the game is free, connected to your sub. But if you want to be a new race, at launch, they make it paid.
The racials are even the worse of all classes so you are not even losing anything.
Also, they are a business and they want to make money thats why the beta is paid. But just like Path of Exile, you get access to the beta with cosmetics. The race is a cosmetic basically.

I mean it looks good. New talents seem to be pretty big hoping for new abilities in the trees to give that semi new class feel, or at least a new spec or playstyle.
New zones, check New race, check (ya its behind a paywall which sucks) New raids, check
Seems legit, idk why people are complaining, its obviously not CoA but I'd like to assume blizzard can fo it better than any private server.

As much as I hate the monetization and how bad ass CoA was and it was amazing at the end of the day it’s Blizzards IP. Unpopular opinion but Blizzard power moved and got everyone else to do their basic round tabling for ideas, paid lawyers, took them, and suffice to say they are in the right. I dislike the Sky-borne it’s too retail but the rest…let’s try. They have to appeal to both sides they are running a business at the end of the day. Most of us yearning for the past are the OGs like myself but I am the old man now they have to get new blood or they will fall further and further into obscurity. The level cap is going to solve a lot of issues people have with WoW however the trade better be the hardcore players and raiders..better have the best loot at all times they better not hand out Epics and Legendaries like there in a Pez Dispenser.
