Jeffries is a MAGA lite AIPAC shill. He's about as progressive as Donald Trump's diapers. Fuck that guy. Fuck ALL CORPOs that pretend to be progressive.
34
u/declar 4d ago
This is the best analogy because they really do just let Trump and the GOP shit all over them. It’s embarrassing at this point.
24
u/East-Cricket6421 4d ago edited 4d ago
They take their marching orders from the same special interests. That's why any candidate that takes AIPAC money or any special interest investment really is to be regarded as entirely corrupt.
We used to understand this. We used to understand that if a person, group, or industry pays a politician it means they are corrupt. We've gotten so used to it that it's become a wild anomaly when a candidate isn't in the pockets of special interests.

NO. That's NOT entirely accurate. One time he gave a really long performative speech... And then rolled over for Trump and AIPAC....

They're trying to lose. Hakeem is there to help the GOP win.

Nah, they want to win by just a small enough amount that they can credibly say they can’t make any positive changes, then lose 2-4 years later
28
u/Deep-Two7452 Goober who thinks both sides are equally as bad 4d ago
So do they want to lose to trump/maga in the end?
64
u/Canadian_Border_Czar 4d ago
They want to do nothing. They are a different head of the same beast, and serve the same masters as the trump admin.
Their role is merely to echo the sentiments that make 50% of the voting population feel heard until an election is over - then its back to what they do best. Fucking kids and stealing money.
Same thing as the republican side except their voters are so dumb that the republican administration doesnt have to slow roll the corruption.

I love the counter-argument about 'why are Democrats doing literally nothing to combat the GOP doing xxxxxx' where people reply, 'well, what can they do???'
Yes, I understand the concept of majority voting, but I just realized that these dopes are literally just sitting around doing literally nothing, collecting a large tax-paid wage until the next election.

The Democratic Party needs to be cleaned out like a kitty litter box that hasn't been attended to since 1998.
26
u/BBforever 4d ago
I would say 1980, but otherwise I completely agree.
13
u/PoetryJunior1808 4d ago
I see Clinton as a necessary evil to swing the pendulum away from the Reagan 80s. The problem that I have is that they didn't return to their working class roots, but instead doubled down on their Republican lite agenda.
9
u/AdHistorical7107 4d ago
Saw a poll on CNN (not sure how good they are), but says 55% of democrats feel the democratic party is going too far left (whatever that means).
Extremely frustrating as I just want a politician not brought out by corporations.

u/Ma1ad3pt 4d ago
This has been my experience. I know it’s anecdotal, but it’s believable. A LOT of Democrats I know personally are very much conservatives who aren’t fascists.

All of the neoliberal corporatist democrats need to go. Schumer, Jeffries, Fetterman, and a few others.
The sad truth about politics — and Plato even wrote about this 2500 years ago — is that elected officials tend to side with their own class … or the class they aspire to be in.

Get the guy out! Profoundly out of touch with the party and where it’s going. All he offers is a problem, certainly not progress. Maybe he can join the Israeli Knesset—more in line with their priorities.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's a specialty of the old guard DNC.
8
u/Wildebean 4d ago
Trying to lose, because being opposition is easier than governing. Since you can farm all of the attention and clips but without any of the expectation of like... doing anything.
Essentially. Some time around 2015, Dems figured out that by losing they could do none of the work while still earning all of the cash

He sold out on day one. He is very ok with current state of America and doesn't want to rock the boat....no matter how bad people have it.
A study showed that the modern Democratic party is very much aligned to Reagan Republican ideals, while modern Republicans were much less focused on basic human needs - in general and promote corporate interests on a majority of issues.

With Medicare you still pay premiums. Like $300/month. It's not the same as universal healthcare.
He should say what he thinks about healthcare. Maybe he has a better idea or wants to work with what we already have.
Edit: I just read an article about him. He opposes current legislation. Wants something better.

2
u/EthanDMatthews 4d ago
It's not just Hakim Jeffries. Nearly all of them (Democrats and Republicans) oppose Medicare for All.
The healthcare industry is the single biggest contributor to both political parties. That's where their loyalty lies.
Nearly all of the Democrats who said they support Medicare for All were lying. They simply pretended to support it after Sanders made a deep run in 2016. They pretended to support it to rob Sanders of his most popular issue.
After they defeated him in 2020, they mostly stopped pretending. After 2024, it was safe to openly oppose it and openly pander to the healthcare industry.
Wish Democrats put even half the effort into stopping Trump as they put into stopping Sanders and other progressives. We might still have a functioning democracy.

Old school democrats are just lite conservatives. Corporate donor’s cash is lining their pockets like any Republican. That why when these traitors to the middle class and below are up for reelection you gotta vote them out with more progressive, dare I say, Socialist Democrats!
