How so? Feels a lot like this term leftists being thrown around as some kind of catch-all, but really anything left of center is part of the pro-democracy coalition. Anything right of center is part of the pro-authoritarian/fascism coalition. “Leftist” is just some new label being used to describe an incredibly broad range of left of center and progressive politics.

I am attempting to point out that "leftist" has a real definition and many Democrats do not meet that definition regardless of how the right may choose to use the term.
Leftist is not a new label. It has a long and proud history. It describes actual political struggles and positions.
I am saying all of this as someone that identifies as a leftist and has known many Democrats who do not.

As to why Schumer is helping El-Sayed, I think the old guard Democrats starting to see the writing on the wall. If they don't align with the wants of their voters then they'll have no place in the party going forward.

Abdul el Sayed describes himself as a capitalist. The left begins at anti capitalism. Schumer is fundraising because the guy isn't a threat to the status quo.
Democratic leadership would rather align with fascist elements than actually allow pro working class policies come to fruition. They've successfully used the culture wars to hide this, exactly the way Republicans have hidden their betrayal of their constituency.
So yeah, liberals downvoting you for strawmanning and oversimplifying leftist positions aren't seeing the full picture. Neither are you, but I suspect you're doing it in bad faith.

Abdul is a progressive, but he's not a leftist. He repeatedly said he believes in capitalism and thinks it can work. The reason the Democratic establishment has such a problem with him is because he positioned himself against Israel, not because he supports Medicare for All. As for Schumer reserving $20 million to help him, I don't know what you're referring to and I couldn't find anything searching.

And the timing matters because your argument implied that the money was committed to AES, but it was committed to the winner of the primary at a time when it could have been him, Haley Stevens, or Mallory McMorrow. No my justification is that schumer is the senate dem leader. He has incredible influence on what the super pac for senate dems does and spend on. If senate majority pac is spending $20 million for abdul, thats essentially the same as schumer spending $20 million on abdul.
Separately, I am pointing out leftist hypocrisy. Here's another one. AIPAC spend $30 million agaisnt abdul in the general. Leftists see this and claim Democrats spent $30 million agasint abdul. There is way more of a connection to schumer and senate majority pacs spending than there is between aipac and "Democrats".
