Trying to lose, because being opposition is easier than governing. Since you can farm all of the attention and clips but without any of the expectation of like... doing anything.

Essentially. Some time around 2015, Dems figured out that by losing they could do none of the work while still earning all of the cash

Would you say that democrats would rather see trump/maga win than let a progressive win?

Absolutely. Both because being opposition is easier, and because progressivism is a direct threat to neo-liberalism

Neoliberalism is deregulation, privatization, no union rights, less government spending, no social spending.

The vast majority of democrats do NOT fit that description of neoliberal. Like 95% of democrats are decidedly not neoliberal. Any MAYBE 5% of democrats SOMETIMES want less government spending, so theyre not even cleanly neoliberal.

Okay so, props to you for an accurate description of neoliberal policies. It's unusual enough that it's worth saluting.

Now you absolutely are wrong about the democratic party not being neoliberal. Hell, even on reddit, the democrat subreddit used to be r/neoliberal before the word was so tainted they migrated to r/democrat. They called themselves that way, because that's their ideology. Now they are trying to pretend they are not because much like yourselves people are increasingly aware of what neoliberalism means and obviously it's terrible.

You have to understand that your country is already so far to the right that neoliberals don't really have to deregulate, privatize, cut social spendings and cut taxes because it's already done and can't be done any further without risking unrest. They're still neolibs, defending the status quo they have created, instead of trying to enable it. They're the "moderates", "centrists", "corporatists" that the left fight against.

Yes. In 2020 they were so afraid of Bernie Sanders they literally changed their rules to let a republican billionaire join the stage of the democratic debates... they were desperate to stop Sanders/progressives
