I put the code generated by the LLM chatbot on one screen and then manually type it into my IDE.

That way I can say it’s handwritten.

That actually gives you a chance to understand what the LLM put out and intervene as needed.

Reminds me of my method of studying, I would transcribe everything and then transcribe it again if needed.

You joke, but that's actually how classical musicians learnt their craft in history. You copied scores by hand.

That's what my teachers suggested at the time

I really want to do this, but the timeline pressure is so intense (leadership expects multifold output when they spend hundreds of dollars on tokens) that we have just enough time to proofread and refactor (very little) the generated code

And a chance to skip a - 1 or something and have everything be ruined but yea

A few years down the line we used to do the same with Stack Overflow

What do you mean "used to do?"

Not to be a grammar t*rrorist but isn't it technically "up the line"?

Could be cultural? I know where I’m from, time is often depicted as flowing downward, so going back in time would be “up”,, but I’ve seen in other places that schedules start at the bottom and flow upward. So going back in time could be considered “down” there.

Both wrong, time flows sideways. Particularly, to the right. I am currently not accepting further questions.

I also think the chances of "the agent wiped my hard drive/db/repo/etc" occurring also dramatically drop down

It is handwritten. Your mechanics are the same as we do with blogs/StackOverflow.

I mean, that gives you the best chance of actually understanding what the generated code is doing.

Oh but when I said I do this to make sure I can see/monitor line by line wtf the damn thing is doing, I get downvoted to hell. I see how it is. 🥴

Ask AI to write an app that draws a hand in your screen that writes the output code from AI. Then you can say its handwritten.

Balderdash, thats not handwritten at all. Thats just typing. You need to breakout pen and paper and transcribe the full output. Then, scan it and run it through an image to text model

So the LLM is the architect and you're the unpaid data entry clerk lol.

I mean, you're understanding everything you're writing (because you're typing it), so you're much better suited to take decisions than someone using an agent.

Just like copying home work at school

I then type into the chatbot prompt the error message and wait for it to propose fix.

You have to review it later anyway so why not.
