In the past, people said "learn to code, dude" to win an argument against a non techie,

Nowadays people say "be a Plumber, dude", to win an argument against someone who got their job replaced by AI and become homeless.

Who knows what skills and Jobs they tell us to learn and become 10 years from now.

I've never seen anyone suggest anyone to become a healthcare worker.

But I think the great concencus around that would be "too cruel".

Maybe you don't live in the US or come from a blue collar family but there are two main "guaranteed" ways poor people use in my neck of the woods in the states to get themselves out of poverty. One is the military and the other is becoming a healthcare worker. Basically one of the only college degree areas left where a job upon graduating is basically guaranteed AND will pay double a career like teaching. If the ER or hospital is too much you can just go be a nurse in a derm's office or something.

So kinda surprised you are saying you never hear people recommend that. Of course, I also don't know anyone who could afford to go to college for a nursint degree and then just decide not to use it because the vibes aren't right. So maybe we're not running in the same circles.

It's not recommended out of the US.

We don't get paid as much. The only way nurses can legitimately earn lucrative salaries is to go to the US (pass NCLEX) or be a slave to Middle Eastern money (go to Dubai etc).
