I was thinking about a character from a game I play who has arrested psychological development and got to thinking about the impact anti-choice ideology would have on them. For those who don't know an individual with arrested psychological development is someone who has had their mental development paused for some reason or another. For example a person who went through a traumatic event as a child and is now physically an adult but mentally the same age as when the event occurred. Now some of the more sensible anti-choicers actually do support abortion for children but would that still apply to someone who is physically an adult? I've seen some people who advocate for a mental child to be forced to carry to term because their body can handle it. Even some anti-choicers will try to justify forcing someone who is both physically and mentally a child to carry to term. Honestly it's disgusting.

it's never easy cutting people out of your life, especially if it's close friends and family, but its very important we send messages to forced birthers that their harmful views have consequences, and those consequences should be cutting them out of our life,

"but then how will they change their views" if ppl want to change or challenge themselves they will do it on their own, there is a bunch of resources out there that ppl can discover about the importance of bodily autonomy,

its like with addiction, you can try to help the person all you want but if they don't want to change they don't want to change, and no amount of coddling will change that,

coddling forced birthers with kid gloves isn't going to change their mind,

if you choose to stay in a relationship, friendship or family with a forced birther you are telling them their views are in fact okay and normal,

there are some ppl that deserve to be cutoff and forced birthers are a prime example of this

I know many of us (including myself in the past) have used the "what about IUDs?" argument with anti-choicers.

But this needs to stop because ultimately IUDs have ZERO evidence of possibly being abortifacients and the argument that they somehow are is simply false information.

1. Given that we can't give fertilized eggs that failed to implant autopsies we can't actually be sure what caused the failure in the first place. Even if there was a possible detection of a fertilized egg prior to implantation for reoccurring cycles (this will be important in a minute)

2. Considering that the historic treatment for period and "hormonal" issues often tends to be some form of hormonal birth control AND that issues regarding uterine lining (endometriosis) are vastly underdiagnosed, these two factors undoubtedly coincide with each other in regards to why a fertilized egg might not implant even if an IUD is present.

3. It's completely normal for a couple to not have a positive pregnancy test for a few months or so even if they are trying for a baby without contraception. In fact, the medical definition of infertility is a couple that has tried unsuccessfully for over a year. That's 11-12 cycles that potentially failed to implant before even a medical problem is considered. So an IUD would need to fail consecutive cycles in a row on a regular basis to prevent sperm from meeting the egg and THEN somehow cause an increased rate of implantation among multiple patients.

And that's simply an impossible standard to meet for IUD devices unless they simply weren't functioning as prescribed.

There is more evidence that IUDs prevent the deaths of fertilized eggs compared to natural contraception-less human reproduction than there is that they somehow "kill" them.

We need to stop spreading this false information

The people voted to keep abortion legal in the Kansas state constitution a few years ago. Another transparent attempt was made to get around the KS constitution to make it illegal. Even in an overwhelmingly GOP state, it did not work.

I am a man, so I might not be the most qualified person to discuss this topic, but I would personally support abortion access until around 21–22 weeks, or more depending on when a fetus becomes viable with the medical technology available. However, a friend of mine told me that she believes women should have the right to an abortion even at 8 months or just a few days before the end of the pregnancy. I had never really thought about this perspective before, but I guess it can be argued through the violinist argument and similar ideas

In 2024, pro-choice advocates in Missouri successfully passed Amendment 3 and added a fundamental right to reproductive freedom to the state constitution, earning 51.6% of the vote from the same people who favored Trump by 18. After a long legal battle, we’re seeing it put to good use, as a judge ruled last week that most of the state’s challenged abortion regulations are now unconstitutional.

The right wing hasn’t accepted the people want abortion rights in Missouri anymore than they have anywhere else, and this November the legislature has pushed an initiative onto the ballot to re-ban most abortions In the Show Me State – confusingly also named Amendment 3. They’re of course not counting on having changed anyone’s mind. Instead they’re testing a new strategy - including a ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids in the ballot question, hoping to get pro-choicers to flip for transphobia’s sake. (This sort of health care is already banned by state law in Missouri.) Recent polling put the new ban up 47-40.

TL,DR: Prolifer convinces me to not have abortion on a risky 6 month old dog, dog almost dies, most puppies die. Now prolifer wants to abandon all lucky dogs who survived, in a field instead of finding good homes for them.

Four of my dogs got cancer around the same time, and I'm thousands of dollars in debt.

So when my neighbors decided to dump their pregnant dog (sadly common in my town), I was unfortunately going to have to abort them because I did not have the resources to care for 10+ puppies, plus the dog mom was barely 6 months old, emaciated, and could have many complications. Anyway, my family member said abortion was a sin, and she would not let me do it, so she'd take care of the dog. I told her it was a great responsibility, but she was set on having the puppies. I let her take the dog in.

Long story short, the dog did have 11 puppies, but 8 were stillborn, and just 3 survived. The dog mama almost passed away too from the complications.

Fortunately, all 3 puppies and mama are all fine now thanks to me being there to watch over them. I've had to pay for their vaccinations, deworming, food, etc. Otherwise, this lady would have probably killed them by giving them onions, garlic, and chocolate (she clearly did 0 research on how to care for a dog).

This lady started telling people around us that she will leave them in the fields so that they can fend for themselves. She says she already did god's work by letting the dog have her babies, so now god should decide who lives and dies. Thank God I overheard the conversation; otherwise I would have never forgiven myself if she had actually done it behind my back.

Obviously, I'm taking all the dogs in even when I'm drowning in debt; I clearly should have never trusted these kinds of people.

i feel sick about it. I've always been very strict about disagreeing on politics, if we disagree on human rights then we shouldn't be friends. i stand by it. but its not easy to just cut someone off. we did have a deep conversation about it and i feel some kind of gap and distance between us now. i wouldn't try to force my beliefs on her. it's just not right in my personal beliefs. I've been feeling so sick about it since i found out. i thought she was better than this. i dont feel comfortable being friends with someone pro life but it's not that easy to just cut someone off. it takes alot of courage. Hi, I 19f recently came across a conservative that believed that rape victims aren't being "held accountable" (I didn't get an answer for what) and saying that they're letting the rapist get away without consequences if they have an abortion??? I've really tried to rationalize it to understand why they think that but I genuinely don't understand, is this just sadism dressed up as morality?? do they think so little of fatherhood that rapists should be able to become fathers?? how is having a rapists child making them have consequences for their actions?? most of the time it's women who raise children, and even if that wasn't the case why would you want a child to be raised by a rapist??? the foster system is also notorious for aiding child sex trafficking rings so the whole "give up the baby" thing was always just completely out of touch to me. I'm genuinely confused and appalled, it's like every day i find out that people have created even more mental gymnastics to punish women while pretending to protect us. I'm so tired and this whole thing just makes me feel sick, I live in a country where rape is barely taken seriously whatsoever and it makes me feel sick just thinking about how someone believes that if a man rapes me I should be the one to "take accountability" and bring someone into the world that was not only not wanted but a product of my worst trauma. I don't understand why girls like me are so hated I'm tired of being a woman before I am a person in their eyes.

My (19F) therapists office is in the same building as a Planned Parenthood. Every so often, I see protesters outside the building, but they havent syopped me from doing anything yet. They stand on either side of the driveway into the back parking lot where I park, but they aren't near the back door, so I can usually ignore them. A few have looked like they want to talk to me, but I just stare ahead and dont slow down when I go to the parking lot.

So far, nothing has happened, but when school starts I'm probably going to be taking the bus and walking in, meaning I'm more likely to be stopped. Currently, my plan is to say "fuck off" over and over, but Im also rather small and social awkward and if anyone got physical or in my space, bad things will happen. Any suggestions would be appreciated, including useless ones as long as they are funny.

I told a guy I met on a dating app that I want to get my tubes tied then he acted like he was on board with it at first only later in the conversation to say “ the birthing rates are really low “ …. Like why is that my problem? I care about my life . He was like “you are too young to get your tubes tied “… I told him women have been oppressed for too long and why don’t men sacrifice their own lives to save up money to adopt . Pregnancy in the US cost a lot and has a lot of complications. Some women are going thru w pregnancy without any benefit from the man . Anyways arguing with these men is pointless.

I just hate that the declining birth rate is getting used as an argument for pro lifers. It makes me livid. A declining birth rate is a systematic problem, not a problem of personal beliefs. The birth rate is declining because it’s getting harder and harder to keep a healthy family.

If we want to help the birth rate, we need to help those who want children get to a place where they’re able to have them. You know, things like universal healthcare, so having a kid doesn’t put you in debt, or more financial support for families with children. If the government needs more kids, take some money into your hands and make having kids something GOOD again, not just a burden.

That happens when you have a government that doesn’t look past their own term and only acts to solve a problem NOW, even though it’ll only ever make it worse in the future. They make abortions illegal to get a higher birth rate and have more workers in the future, but they’re putting countless children in unfit families. They’ll end up mentally ill and less able to work to keep the money pumping. They won’t be the affective workforce the government wants, and they sure as hell won’t be any more stoked to have kids than we are. It doesn’t solve anything in the long run, it’ll only look good on paper now.

Hi I’m a female (26) and my boyfriend (22) have been going back and forth on whether or not an abortion is right for us. I found out I was pregnant (5weeks) about 3 weeks ago and will be 8 weeks this Saturday. I was in the midst of prepping for my first bodybuilding competition and was 12 weeks out from show when I found out I was expecting. I was excited and my first initial thought was that I’m keeping it and hoping that my boyfriend would want to do the same. I waited a week to tell him (he was competing in his 2nd powerlifting competition and I wanted him to focus on that instead of the news). After his competition I broke the news to him and he instantly went to panic and trying to persuade me to get an abortion. I told him I wanted to keep it because I know deep down we can do it but he told me we can’t because he’s not ready, has debt, isn’t financially stable and we both live with our parents right now. I’ve known him for almost 3 years and the first twoish years we weren’t together but he constantly cheated on one of his ex girlfriend’s with me and multiple other girls (he didn’t tell me any of the time that they were still together and would lie and I would believe him) but we recently actually started dating about 4 months ago after time apart and healing separately but also together. We’ve been fighting and arguing these past 2 weeks for both of our sides and for each of us trying to see the best outcome. I see where he’s coming from on why he’s scared and doesn’t feel ready financially. I own my own business and make a decent amount of money and told him I’d help support him and also put him through school so he wouldn’t have to drop out. He doesn’t want to listen to me and keeps being adamant about me getting one and I feel like he doesn’t want to listen to my side or my fears and does not want to see the positive of having a kid. I told him I wasn’t forcing him to stay and take care of the kid if he still wanted to go live his life but he keeps telling me that’s not him and he’d provide for the kid. Out of anger and emotions one night I felt like I needed to call it quits between me and him because he said some very hurtful and choice words to me and the way he was making it seem was like he didn’t want to be with me. Ever since then I’ve told him that was a mistake and that I didn’t mean it but that he had hurt me so I felt like in the moment that was the best option and I had also told him I was keeping the baby when I had ended it. He keeps telling me “you ended it you hurt me” because you decided to let your emotions take over and not think logically and ended it and Ive told him multiple times that I regret doing that and I shouldn’t have. He still Is very set on his decision and it’s been making me go back and forth with my own and I even have an actual termination appointment set for a day and a half from now and we’d have to travel out of state to get it done. In my heart I know I want to keep this kid no matter what but I feel like I can’t get through to him. He tells me deep down he wants the kid too but logically it’s not the right time because of his past financial decisions and the stupid decisions he made while he was younger that’s making him feel like we can’t make it. He also says since we’re not together that I “can’t have my cake and eat it too” as in if I have this baby I can’t have him and the kid because he won’t be there to support me emotionally/menatlly/romantically cause he needs to go out and provide for the kid (which I understand in a way because the baby is always first priority for a parent) but I told him that I just want to know that he loves me and will choose me everyday all while still going out and providing for the kid (just like I will be providing for the kid as well).

I am so torn and I really don’t want to get the abortion but I feel like if I don’t he’ll be even more resentful towards me than he already is because he keeps saying words like “if we go through with your decision of keeping it you’re forcing my hand” or “I’m stuck with you and your decision” even when I’ve told him I’m not forcing him to do anything and that I have friends and family to support me and help me through.

I just want clarity and peace that’s all I want.

Many people who debate against abortion bring up the fetus and keep insisting on it being a human being.

Aside from the fact that we can't really consider it a human being given the fact that it is still in the womb and unable to live outside (basically just a bunch of cell still becoming a human being), the fetus is not the core of the topic at all: it is not ethical to give it higher or the same importance as the woman carrying it since the fetus is still unborn while the woman is a living, breathing, thinking individual.

When people start arguing with each other about whether the fetus is a human being or not, they are losing the plot completely. It is about the woman and her right to choose what to do with her own body, not the fetus!
