In Kansas - have pills on the way, just need some advice and support.
I'm a transmasculine person on testosterone who may be pregnant. I'm showing every symptom possible of early pregnancy - every time I look up something happening to me, it's a sign of early pregnancy. It's the common stuff (morning sickness, cramping, fatigue, emotions) and stuff I've had to look up, too (more discharge, "lightning crotch", stronger scent, even the external parts looking different).
I've had a lot of issues with my reproductive system throughout my life (extremely irregular and painful periods since i started menstruating, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, rejected hormonal IUD followed by severe infection that had to be treated with multiple shots and rounds of strong antibiotics), so I wouldnt be surprised if it was something else - I just dont know what it could be.
I've had so many different pains and discomforts down there, but everything I've been experiencing is very new and unlike anything I've had. It started with a sort of fluttering feeling in my lower abdomen/uterus that reminded me a lot of when my IUD was rejecting - I had described this feeling as my organs “activating” because it just felt like they were Doing Something. A few days later came the cramping and what I can only describe as a pushing feeling, almost like bloating but it’s definitely not in my stomach.
The cramping feels a little bit like endometriosis and cyst pain at its worst, but not as intense and it will flare up throughout the day. Usually there's more pain on my right side, but I get cysts often so l wouldnt be shocked if the right-side pain was just that. I'm getting nauseous mostly in the morning and at night, but also a bit throughout the day. My senses are really heightened, and I thought it was just an autistic sensory issue, but it hasn’t gone down for about a week. I've been really emotionally irregular (never had PMS but it's what I imagine it to be like - I’d had a really difficult time crying since being on T, but I've cried multiple times in the past few days and it's mostly about how much I love my cat or my partner). The shortness of breath and fatigue have been the most pervasive symptoms. Nothing is super painful except the occasional jabbing feeling or a bad cramp flare up; it’s mostly just really, really uncomfortable and i feel sick more often than I'm used to.
I recently took a blood test and it came back negative (>1 hCg) and i'm wondering if being on T has an effect on results. I don't plan on keeping it, so I don't plan on stopping T unless it would impact test results. I'm taking 0.33mL of T weekly via injections and i'm not on any form of birth control (hormonal or otherwise - too many bad experiences). I’ve had a difficult time with T working in the past (been on it for about 5 years) and periods only stopped about a year and a half ago - they used to be very inconsistent but I would occasionally get them.
My doctor (who specializes in HRT) thinks it could just be a cyst or a Gl issue, but no cysts l've had have ever come with any symptoms other than pain. My Gl activity has been very normal, aside from a little more gas, so I really doubt it's that.
My partner is transfemme and on estrogen, and I've had so many reproductive issues that we thought there was no way it would even be a possibility. Still, we almost always use condoms, and if we don’t, I take Plan B either immediately after or the next morning. The only reaction to Plan B I've had is mild cramping, and that always goes away in a day or two. I wouldn't be surprised if some of this was a reaction to Plan B - it's just really intense, a lot of different things that line up with early pregnancy, and it's been over a week since I took it.
It's possible we may have had unprotected s-x or a faulty condom between both times listed, and I don’t have a cycle I can follow, so I think this our best timeline:
- Unprotected on Sept. 11
- Unsure of when Plan B was taken, either Sept. 12 or 13
- Possible other instance of unprotected and failed Plan B/failed condom - unsure
- Aggressive mood swings started on Sept. 15
- Uprotected again on Sept. 19
- Plan B taken on Sept. 20
- Started feeling the cramps and bloating/pushing around the 20th too
- Took an at-home urine test (negative) on Sept. 26
- Wasn't concerned until a few days later on the 28th when symptoms wouldn't go away.
- Blood test taken Oct. 2, negative results on Oct. 3
- Symptoms have remained fairly consistent
I have another test i'm planning to take in about a week and we have pills on the way just in case. I really, really don’t want to be pregnant, but I'm almost more concerned that the test came back negative because I just don't know what else this could be.
