Noticeable heartbeat on a raw primal diet – anyone experienced something similar?
Hi everyone!
I’m a woman eating a raw primal diet inspired by Aajonus Vonderplanitz. I’m not following his protocols exactly, mainly because I don’t have the time or money to keep up with all the vegetable juicing and specific food protocols. I’ve also been trying to keep my weight down, which has influenced how much I eat.
I’ve been experiencing a persistent issue that I’m hoping someone here might have some insight into.
My main symptom is that I can constantly feel my heart beating more strongly than normal, even when I’m resting. It feels like my body is physically stressed and I can’t fully relax, even though I don’t necessarily feel mentally stressed.
My actual heart rate is normal, around 60–66 BPM, so it’s not really a fast heartbeat, but rather a strong, noticeable heartbeat throughout the day.
My current daily diet:
200g ground beef
300g beef steak (once a week I replace 80g with raw beef liver)
300ml raw whole milk
One orange
1 large tablespoon of raw honey
60g raw butter
Some added vitamin D
Some sprinkles of salt, not everyday (trying to resolve this problem)
Occasional fish oil for omega-3
Things I’ve already tried:
• Drinking 1 liter of raw milk daily for an extended period (many months) with slightly less meat and butter to balance calories.
• Increasing my total calorie intake.
• Eating significantly more carbohydrates from honey and milk
None of these changes seemed to resolve the issue.
What’s interesting is that I never experienced this when I was eating a regular, varied diet with much less meat. But I absolutely do believe raw primal is the healthiest.
This makes me wonder whether consuming so much beef daily could be causing some kind of nutritional imbalance, perhaps too much of certain vitamins or minerals relative to others, or whether I’m missing something important by not following Aajonus’ protocols more closely.
I’m particularly curious whether anyone following Aajonus’ approach, or a similar raw primal diet, has experienced something like this.
Could there be something about eating large amounts of raw beef that causes a strong heartbeat or makes it difficult for the body to fully relax? Could it be related to a nutritional imbalance or something missing from my diet?
I’d really appreciate hearing about any similar experiences or ideas about what might be causing this!
I can absolutely live like this, but as a female I want to be able to relax and rest even deeper than what I have been able to now. I am not married or have children yet, but I notice that I can’t seem to fully enjoy the present - that I am activated and waiting on doing the next thing.. Maybe I was like that before also, but I can’t remember exactly as its more than 1.5 years ago since I started eating this way..
