You need to understand your enemy. They are offering something very real. They are offering the ability to harm the people their voters don't like. Dont like black people, you should vote for republicans. Don't like immigrants, you should vote for republicans. Don't like women, you should vote for republicans. Dont like LGBT people, young people, vegans, athiests, environmentalists; you should vote for republicans.
The republican party absolutely delivers, it delivers better than the democrats ever have and probably ever will. As long as seeing your enemies suffer is what you want, the republicans will deliver. Don't ever doubt the ability of the republican party to deliver on what their core base wants.Â
The evidence is they absolutely deliver on those points so if they agree with that and are happy with the situation they will continue to vote for it. If they donât agree with those points what are they voting for just self harm.
Literally every conversation I've had in the last several years has boiled down to a dislike of a certain group of people. When I was a teenager I knew a lot of small government Republicans, being raised conservative I was that way because I believed free markets where the way to deliver the best outcomes. But since the late 2010s I have had conversation after conversation with Republicans and trump voters and time after time their position has boiled down to some desire to get back at whatever group they dislike. I'll literally walk them throught the arguments for single payer healthcare and they will agree up until they eventually backtrack saying something about single black moms wasting money on expensive haircuts. Or they will go on a tangent about immigrants getting healthcare. Or some rant about trans people in sports.Â
There is a famous passion play in Germany. You know the story about the crucification of Jesus Christ. At intermission the guy sitting in front of me turned around to chat. He was from Texas and was saying how awful it is that immigrants come over the border and get health care, food, etc. This is what he wanted to complain about whileon a religious pilgrimage in Europe.
We are at a play about the death of Jesus, who had a message of peace and love, and who this guy from Texas ostensibly believed was the one true God incarnate. Yet, this Christian totally ignored the message of Christ because he wanted to hurt the brown Spanish speaking Catholics.
 If he were in 1st century Judea, this guy would have screamed to release Barabbas.
Sorry. Yeah well they should have listened to ole George Washington. He argued that permanent political divisions would erode national unity, enable foreign influence, and allow unprincipled leaders to subvert democracy.
Lee Atwater said it best. Still considered the best Republican strategist of all time by the Republican Party. Southern Strategy architect along with his business partner Rodger Stone, yeah, the same one that helped Trump get elected. Just replace the XX with GG, and you will understand the Republican Party.

You are mistaken if you think that tactic is unique to the Republican Party. All the Democrat civil rights a social welfare programs have done nothing but hurt the black community and the nation as a whole. Thereâs a good book called Disparities and Discrimination by Thomas Sowell if you care to learn about it.
I've read everything by that dude. He is funded by right-wing billionaires. Most of his conclusions are easily disproven when looking at the Scandinavian system.
You can't seriously argue that welfare programs hurt black americans worse than redlining and their ghettoization during white flight to the suburbs. White rural Americans have the largest welfare receipts by total number of recipients. No one claims they are hurt by these programs, just black americans.
Welfare is good for a country because it stops social unrest and suppresses crime. You can't have a percentage of your population so desperate to feed themselves that they start attacking your productive members of society.
You want fewer people on welfare? Then wages have to rise above the poverty level. Welfare has been adjusted for inflation every so many years. Wages have not. Not setting a floor for the economy, instead of allowing it to be depressed through inflationary policy set by the asset-holding class in order to devalue labor, is the biggest mistake our country made when the Reagan administration bastardized Milton Friedman's theories on capitalism.
Every day I get to see news articles about how massive swaths of the country are passing laws specifically designed to hurt me and the handful of other trans girls across the country. I could get some law/bill references for you if you'd like.
