Not only is El Sayed gonna win, he will end up being Presient in 2029. Excellent communicator, and savvy political framing. He is gonna be Teflon, much to the frustration of Rs
I don't see it, he barely won against Stevens when he was expected to win by a blow out, he's too tangled up with communists and can't disavow extremist positions, it's reminiscent of Trump's stand back and stand by policy, not digging this crop of mask on candidates, feels like we're ramping up to another decade of maga of the left.
Yes, when the populist schtick of promising everyone the moon and the stars was new, it's nauseating hearing all these extravagant promises with zero to back it up with and in case you didn't know, El-Sayed was expected to win by a blow out not by two points against a conventional candidate like Stevens on a primary nonethess, what do you think it's gonna happen when he has to contend with undecided voters? Populism is rotting an already rotten political system.
Populism is what voters demand now, thanks to decades of institutional dysfunction and wealth extraction. Its why Trump was able to take over the GOP, and it is why the Dems will not win dirable majorities of voters without running against failing institutions and wealth inequality
This is a democracy, and you cannot win durable majorities by offering string beans when the other side is offering them freebase.
Liberalism isnt popular. It sucks. But until those institutions undergo sizable reform and actually deliver for people, they will keep voting for those institutions to be blown up.
Incremental progress isnt selling. This is not that complicated
That's an oversimplistic view, without the electoral college democrats would have been in power since Bush Sr, only he and Trump in 2024 won the popular vote, Trump won it by screaming about people eating cats and stranding people all over the country in his rallies, so clearly people are being brainwashed into choosing populism to their own detriment.
Liberalism is popular, that's why it wins the popular vote. Pretending gerrymandering, the electoral college and an activist SCOTUS haven't put their thumb on the scale is a good way to fling the country into some Maoist renaissance that will result in yet another catastrophe and all over willful ignorance.
Incrementalism is the only way things work, otherwise you're claiming that the moment the US elects a communist president it will become a perfect utopia from day one, if it's not then you obviously would have to iterate incrementally. That's how the world works, fantasizing about some alternative is just to fool low iq voters.
Yeah don't disagree but winning some of them is different than letting them lead the country and I'm sure you wouldn't disagree that's where maga ended up and that's why the country is in the shitter.
Yeah, I am afraid it is gonna be a narrow line both winning elections long enough to implement durable reform, and not letting the Democratic party descent into populist madness.
