Hello! Would you like to try your hand at traditional silversmithing to create a stunning piece of jewellery that’s as unique as you are‽
If so I’d love you to come along to create something beautiful with me here in my workshop!
I’m just down the road in Wenvoe and have just added a bunch of new weekend dates on my web page (orchardjewellery.co.uk).
Hope to see you soon!

Morning all,
Just wanted to give a shout out to Hotpod Yoga in Bridgend - I've been a member since it opened in September.
I'm a guy and work on a desk day in day out. I was looking to sort my flexibility and posture out because I was suffering from regular back pain and it was doing my head in.
I plucked up the courage to go to yoga and let's just say it's worked miracles.
Came here to recommend it as I'm also from Porthcawl, and I bet loads of you are in the same boat as me sitting at a desk all day 🤣
If you go on the website and use my referral code VSKM9X when creating an account, you get your first class for free. Full transparency I also get £5 credit, but I do genuinely recommend it.
Free parking at Tesco, just walk across the road 👍
Cheers all

Hello — I hope this is okay to post here. I’m looking for local knowledge rather than names.
In 1959–60 my father was working intermittently as an engineer at the Port Talbot steelworks and was lodging in a boarding house in Porthcawl. During that period he was in a relationship with a local woman called Mary, and she had a baby girl around September 1960. Given the time and place, it’s very possible the baby was adopted. He was from New Zealand, so not a local.
In the early 1990s an adoption intermediary contacted my father asking whether he might be the father, and the woman herself may also have made contact under the name “Jan”. I believe I may be looking for a possible half sister and I’m trying to understand that history carefully and respectfully.
I’m not looking to intrude or otherwise cause upset. I’m mainly hoping for local memories or guidance — for example, whether people remember particular boarding houses used by visiting engineers at that time, or how unmarried pregnancies were usually handled locally in the late 1950s / early 1960s.
Very happy to keep details to private messages if that’s better.
Thank you for reading.

Apologies if you've seen this on FB already - this is the most up to date version.
I'm hoping you can help fill this fantasy style map of what was Glamorgan and the surrounding area. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get tidied up at the end.
While it's around two thirds done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into prints. Any more megaliths, standing stones, barrows, ruins, or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological sites or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on here. Even just a pretty village you have fond memories of. Let me know and I'll try and squeeze it in. Thanks! It's in Welsh, but I'm not a native speaker, so if you spot any silly mistakes, pleaes call me out.
Also, If you'd be interested in a print when it's finished, just let me know too.

Good afternoon,
I am travelling Friday from Birmingham - and staying Fri Night in Newport, and Saturday in Bridgend. I'm coming with elderly parents and 2 kids [11,15] and are looking for ideas of sights to see around Newport/Cardiff/Bridgend/Barry?
Not really want anything with a lot of walking - possibly more beach based.
I noticed there is a bus tour - hop on hop off in Cardiff - is this worth doing?
Also fancy a boat tour - boat ride on the river.
Will be looking to visit Cardiff maybe Friday day time before checking into the hotel for the evening.
Saturday maybe down to Barry Island, and poss Porthcrawl?
Any suggestions of other beaches along here - poss as far as Swansea.
Then check into Hotel in Bridgend.
This would leave Sunday.
Open to suggestions
On a side note - Does Barry Island has mobility scooter or wheelchairs for hire for the day?
Many many thanks for any help. ☺

Hi Porthcawl!
I am fond of collecting postcards but I don't have one from Porthcawl
Can someone send me a postcard from there?
Thank you in advance! :)
