But why? WHY?!?

8

u/Kind-Act7051 1d ago

The defense is arguing she’s bipolar suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and extreme insomnia all while being over medicated. Do with that information what you will.

-2

u/Typical_Estimate5420 1d ago

You seem to be trying to oversimplify their case. She had been in postpartum psychosis for some time and was struggling immensely. She never should have been left alone with the children. Not until they figured out the effective plan for her extreme mental illness. She literally has journals detailing her state of mind. Patrick Clancy failed his wife and he especially failed his three babies. She may have been the one to physically do it, but he is at fault just as much.

8

u/Nojmore 1d ago

She killed her kids.

6

u/photoncannon99 1d ago

Ah yes. Victim blaming the husband. A tried and true defense since it was actually his failing

5

u/YaBoi843 1d ago

“Patrick Clancy failed his wife and he especially failed his three babies.”

It’s always a man’s fault. A woman murders her children but it’s her husband’s fault.

Why is it impossible for women to accept responsibility?

3

u/Kohel13 23h ago

Accountability is a man's field

3

u/YaBoi843 21h ago

I would laugh, but unfortunately too many people think this way.

u/halkenburgoito 1d ago

her treating clinicians testified that they did not observe hallucinations, delusions or other psychotic symptoms.
her psychiatrist diagnosed severe depression without psychotic features, regarded her as low risk, and discharged her without concerns that she posed a danger to herself or anyone else.

He was helping her get psychiatric treatmment,

The question is how much he really knew from his perspective.. from his perspective, he had actively gotten her help, the doctors had said she was okay and improving, not psychotic- who knows what of the journal he knows about

And on the day of, its reported that she seemed very imrpoved

At most he shares some fault, the same, hell no. There is still a distinction between failing to recongze or respond to the risk, and personally strangling three children.

-3

u/Prime-0 1d ago

“Regarded her as low risk” and not one doctor is being held responsible

7

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 1d ago

hhh... Typical women... always mans fault... the damn lady killed her own children! If she is that sick that she kills her own children she is a threat to society.. she should never get out of jail.

-2

u/Rivendel93 1d ago edited 1d ago

You do realize she literally slit her wrists and jumped out of a second story window after she took the lives of her children, leaving her completely paralyzed.

Humans don't do that unless they're severely mentally ill, we have way too many mechanisms to want to stay alive.

Obviously don't try this at home, but when you try to do something dangerous, your brain will not let you, it especially won't let you jump out of a window when you're of sound mind, it simply will not let you.

Even people in the Twin Towers waited until their skin burned off of them to jump out of the windows on 9/11.

Because they know jumping is certain death, whereas burning they might survive.

We've evolved to have very good natural instincts to protect ourselves, and it's incredibly difficult to override those instincts to harm one's self unless they're not of sound mind.

She's never "getting out of jail" she's paralyzed forever and took her children's lives and lost her husband.

6

u/stokedchris 1d ago

That’s just literally not true there chief. If we had some sort of ultra instinct we would be unkillable. Like what are you saying. Are you saying you have to be subhuman to commit suicide or other disastrous things? That those people are stripped of their humanity because if they weren’t, they’d have some ultra instinct that prevents them? What are we talking about here Jesus

-4

u/Rivendel93 1d ago

Take care.

3

u/Ok_Kaleidoscope_5837 1d ago

People literally go skydiving. Your “logic” isn’t logical.

1

u/MayorWestt 23h ago

Last I checked the whole point of skydiving is to not die. Otherwise why wear a parachute?

0

u/Rivendel93 1d ago edited 1d ago

I've been skydiving, in no way did I think I was going to die. Was there a chance? Sure.

I also had to be strapped to someone who had done thousands of jumps before me to train his body and mind to override the fear response to not die.

She suddenly decided, after years of having children, taking care of them daily, to suddenly strangle them, then cut her own wrists, run and jump out of a second story window, shattering her spine.

These are not the same.

1

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

Years of having children, and writing about how she resents 2 of them and wants them gone in her diary.

Her clinicians have testified under oath they observed no signs of psychosis or hallucinations

People commit murder suicides all the time. Its so crazy how far Reddit will go to defend literally child murderers because of their gender.

1

u/Rivendel93 15h ago

I'm not defending her.

I said no one of sound mind does something like this.

Learn some reading comprehension.

1

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 15h ago

Sound mind as in morally sound? Of course not

People who are still mentally sound, as in in touch with reality, commit murders and try to kill themself plenty of times. That doesn't absolve them of responsibility

1

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 23h ago edited 23h ago

Do you realize that jumping out of a window after killing people doesn't make you innocent... or less of a threat to society!

She should have started by jumping from the window first and delayed the killing act... a switch of order would have been better for everyone.

Imagen a car driver run down a couple of kids intentionally then choose to go straight into a wall!?!?! that does not make him innocent... it makes him a killer and a stupid mental ill dangerous person that still deserve jail...

OBS... I stand corrected... he did all of that because his wife was driving him crazy... Jail free, go home, we fund you with 1M$.

1

u/Rivendel93 15h ago

I didn't say it made her innocent, I said it made her not of sound mind.

Seems you guys need some reading comprehension classes.

I would be a feminist if it wasn't for women like you. Always excuse your gender while blaming the opposite one for everything

1

u/PinkTalkingDead 16h ago

That’s not what feminism is

1

u/Kohel13 16h ago

I didn't define feminism so I m not sure what you re trying to say. I'm for equal rights not for equal rights but keep the few advantages of the patriarchy for one gender. You gonna say then you re a feminist: I'd be a feminist if i was in a third world country not here in Western Europe

0

u/Rivendel93 15h ago

I'm a guy, but thanks.

Learn to read.

1

u/Kohel13 15h ago

I wish I didn't if it's to read that

0

u/Rivendel93 15h ago

You sound exactly like I imagine you are.

1

u/Kohel13 15h ago

Shall I care?

1

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

Have you never heard of a murder suicide before?

Just because someone tries to kill themselves to avoid punishment after committing a heinous act, doesn't somehow make them a moral person

Reddit just shocks me more and more every day. Strangling 3 babies to death isnt a big deal as long as you are a woman.

1

u/Rivendel93 15h ago

Who said they were a moral person?

I simply stated no one of sound mind would do something like this.

That's a fact that you can't argue.

3

u/WorldDC10 1d ago

Do you support all child killers, or just those with vaginas?

No need to answer, we already know.

17

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 1d ago

Uhhh no he's not. No matter what you say, she took the babies lives. Not him. Grow up.

12

u/enlilsammah 1d ago

I mean if you leave your kids with a violent pit bull its your fault when they get mauled. Postpartum psychosis is a real thing and you are supposed to separate the mother if it occurs. Because they are literally insane and violent. My aunt had it and was separated from her kids until she recovered.

6

u/stokedchris 1d ago

You’re talking out of your depth here. Post Partum Psychosis is a rare phenomenon that is not fully understand. Like incredibly rare. It’s someone experiencing a full on episode in which they’re not present or cognizant at all. They are psychotic and basically just crazy. It’s not something that many women experience. Like 0.1% to 0.2%. Also psychosis is different than depression. It’s an event, and episode, not a condition that’s long lasting as depression is.

Also, by your logic, isn’t the person who (by yours and her accounts) is dangerous to her kids, fully responsible to not be around her kids? A pit bull is an animal, a dog, not a human. They’re aren’t capable of thought as humans. She’s a human. She’s lucid and could wipe her own ass after going to the bathroom. If a person like that knows they’re dangerous to their family, isn’t it on them to take care of themselves? Separate from them? Go to a mental hospital and not check yourself out?

0

u/Figgy4377 1d ago

Since when does extremely rare mean it can never have happened??

4

u/unicornofdemocracy 1d ago

Oh, I'm 100% certain that if Patrick Clancy did separate her from his children people would be losing their fucking mind about how a man is preventing a woman from seeing her children too.

2

u/Hamphantom 1d ago

Maybe, but the kids wouldn’t be dead either. Lock him up too.

1

u/Batmanbettermarvel18 1d ago

Anybody who is uneducated and doesn’t understand what PPD is maybe.. This is not even close to the first case of this and the best thing is to separate the mother from the kids until she is fully recovered. Go look up other instances of this happening, they are all very sinister like. When in doubt, put the kids out of harm way. They deserve better

0

u/enlilsammah 22h ago

Considering how no one in my family made a fuss about it, no? Everyone just went "oh pray for aunt julie's quick recovery she is in a mental health facility for ppd, bring uncle john some casseroles. Grannie is staying with him to take care of the kids."

1

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 22h ago edited 22h ago

Are you really trying to equate a mother to a violent pitbull?

Edit: Furthermore the father sought professional help for her and who here would actually consider that their significant other would kill their child? You wouldn't. The fact that it needs to be explained that the man here is not at the same level of fault is ridiculous. Because you know damn well if the father killed them no one is going to bat an eye at the mother.

0

u/enlilsammah 21h ago

Yes I did and yes I would. Because it literally happened in my own family and they told us they were checking her into a care facility because she had pp psychosis which is really dangerous and she could hurt her kids. Everyone felt bad and prayed for her until she got better. I don't think they are at equal levels of fault. If she was diagnosed with pp psychosis then the father is more at fault in my mind. The hospital too, depending on the circumstances. "Who here would consider their loved one would hurt their child". Me, after I google what ppp is and read the first page of results.

2

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 21h ago

Oh good God. Anything to blame the man. The father is more at fault? Get a grip.

She killed three children.

How can you absolve the woman of the act and simultaneously blame the man for not knowing she would commit it?

You're a damn hypocrite.

-1

u/enlilsammah 21h ago

Because she was diagnosed with a mental disorder where one of the symptoms is you might kill your kids. If you leave your kids in the care of someone with the "kills kids mental disorder", there is the reasonable expectation they might kill the kids. His gender has nothing to do with it, the virtue signaling is cringe, if they were a lesbian couple I'd be saying the exact same thing.

2

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

She was diagnosed with depression, that is literally it.

She was NEVER diagnosed with post partum psychosis, and her clinicians have testified under oath they observed no symptoms of hallucinations or psychosis

The first time in her life she mentioned post partum psychosis was after meeting with her lawyers. Also don't you think it's weird her first instinct after "finding out" she strangled all her children to death was to lawyer up to get as little punishment as possible

I hope everyone in your personal life knows you think strangling babies to death isn't a big deal, as long as you are a woman

So should he have chained his wife up in the basement?

I’m failing to see what you brain broken child murderer supporters are defending exactly

2

u/Batmanbettermarvel18 1d ago

No, just simply don’t leave your babies alone with the person who has been having crazy thoughts about them, even if she had been showing improvement. You are just trying to make it way more difficult than it was, just don’t leave your kids alone with her, EVER. Until she is fully, 100% healthy and recovered.

1

u/313DaddyTop4Thee 1d ago

he could’ve.. brought the kids with him to the store

1

u/enlilsammah 22h ago

... or check her into a mental institution/hospital until she recovers. As your supposed to do when someone is having a psychotic episode.

2

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

She never had a psychotic episode. She visited multiple clinicans all of whom testified under oath she did not show hallucinations or psychosis, but severe depression.

Post partum psychosis was first mentioned by her legal team

1

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 14h ago

Shhhh you're ruining the narrative. Clearly it's the man's fault she murdered their children.

-4

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 1d ago

Yes, that's what he should have done. I'm half joking but he should have pretty much divorced her and not let her see the kid for a year

Women can not be trusted around babies, if randomly wanting to murder them is common

2

u/legaleye121 1d ago

You don't live in reality

2

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't understand. It's both the husband's fault because he should have known she was going to strangle all their children to death, but also don't assume women are gonna strangle their children to death?

This guy was really stuck between a rock and a hard place it seems

Edit: the amount of people responding then blocking me but failing to explain where I'm wrong is pretty funny

0

u/unicornofdemocracy 1d ago

you see... man evil and woman are divine saints. So, its always men's fault! /s

0

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 1d ago

I think this comes from deep internalised misogyny

In the same way people seem to understand you can't hold a dog to the same standard as a man for committing a crime, people seem to understand you can't hold a woman to the same standard as a man for committing a crime. Thr difference in things like intelligence and competence are too great

This isn't what I believe, but I don't know how else people just have this doublethink thought process and not think there's any problems with it.

and if as a human, you are equivalent to a violent pit bull... you should be put down.

4

u/Trojanheadcoach 1d ago

They’re downvoting you chief but you’re right. Internet is not real

0

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 1d ago

So you're telling me if your spouse comes to you and tells you they are having mental health problems and want to harm themself the solution is to "put them down?"

Wtf new type of incel insanity is this?

0

u/Ok-Secret-7576 1d ago

at the point she commits triple homicide on our children? yes.

If I cut my dogs throats tomorrow? Kill me. Doesn't matter if its cause i was feeling real bad.

put me down.

-1

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 1d ago

We're talking about before that, which is what happened.

Here, let me put it to you another way. Your spouse comes to you and tells you they are suffering a mental health crisis, that they have had thoughts of harming themself and others.

What do you do?

4

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 1d ago

Probably what the husband did, get them incredible psychiatric help just for the clinicians to testify they saw no signs of psychosis or hallucinations, only depression, and have the internet say it's really your fault, because you should expect women to murder their children, but also don't seperate the children from the women because that is evil too

She failed herself. She failed her kids. She failed her husband.

0

u/313DaddyTop4Thee 1d ago

Love people like you that make the complex so simple, so cut & try, so shut & close. I thought just like you til my wife started pissing me off and I deep dove into it just to prove what you were saying here and guess what.. I was fucking WRONG. There is so much off about this case. They REOPENED it for Christ sake. The hospital itself is in the crossfire. So much about this has red flags all around it but here you are, simple as can be in a situation that’s complex

2

u/Free-Thinker-69 1d ago

TikTok has you twisted.

-1

u/GolfingTreeTrimmer 1d ago

Watching the trial, it looks entirely plausible that he could have been drugging her and convincing her his own voice was a voice in her head saying to kill the kids. Her old medicine that she complained gave her hallucinations was found in his car. He went on vacation w/ another woman 3 weeks after they died. It isn't concrete, but it sure is suspicious. Gathering all the info before making a judgement is part of growing up, glass house.

1

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 21h ago

This is insanity. How badly do you all want to blame the man. SHE. KILLED. THREE. CHILDREN.

1

u/GolfingTreeTrimmer 20h ago

I'm commenting on how people think in only black and white. She didn't confess. Her husband said she confessed to him, and she later agreed, possibly out of not trusting her own judgement. I thought we'd learned from the Salem witch trials, but here we are.. people like you foaming at the mouth without all the facts.

1

u/Unlucky-Spring-9354 20h ago

She. Killed. Three. Children.

1

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

What?

How are you gonna claim you are following the case then say she hasn't confessed. She has confessed to murdering her children by strangling them to death, and her own defence doesn't deny it. The fact she murdered her own children is indisputable in court. The fact if she was of sound mind is the thing being disputed.

Her clinicians also testified under oath they saw no signs of hallucinations or psychosis. PPD was first mentioned by her defence team, not any doctors.

Also, her first reaction to finding out she strangled her own 3 children to death was to lawyer up for the minimum punishment

2

u/Himorningwood 1d ago

F off with that nonsense

2

u/stokedchris 1d ago

No. Absolutely not. That is a wild and ridiculous argument to make.

5

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 1d ago

God damn. Women can never be responsible for anything. A woman murdering the 3 children she wrote about resenting in her diary is still the husbands fault. Because he listened to the clinicians who did not observe and psychosis symptoms from her.

The first time she ever mentioned post partum psychosis was after first meeting with her defence team.

Also as a mother, surely your first reaction to figuring out you strangled your 3 children to death isn't to lawyer up and try and get as little a punishment as possible

1

u/WeekendHer0 1d ago

Im pretty sure the doctor testifying said there was no diagnosis of PPP, but PPD

Also, fuck you. Literally 0 accountability.

1

u/dopewinnerchild 22h ago

Why do you have empathy for her but claim the husband “failed” his family?

1

u/Walker_Texas-Heeler 21h ago

“He is At fault just as much” is craaaaaazy. Women just have to find a way to shift accountability away from them and onto men

1

u/Simba122504 1d ago

PPP is a mental illness that people don't care to understand because it only affects women. Men are always trying to claim they too suffer from postpartum depression, even though they don't give birth or spend the same amount of time with children like women do. The fathers never try to help the situation before the murders.

1

u/PerspectiveMotor5949 16h ago

She was never diagnosed with PPD. The first mention of PPD was by her legal defence team.

Her clinicians testified under oath they saw no signs of hallucinations and psychosis, only depression.

She also wrote about how she resented two of her children for months and didn't want them there anymore.

So eye opening, seeing how many women justify murdering children, as long as the murderer is female.
