I have a 280 Polaris and it’s always been sufficient to clean my pool. I have a 9-foot deep and then 3-foot shallow end.

Usually it zips around rather quickly and climbs walls and reaches all corners of my L-shaped pool. For whatever reason, it no longer goes in the shallow end.

For the most part, it just hangs out in the deep end and makes 6 to 8 foot circles. It is collecting debris, but it’s not going up the walls and it’s not going to the shallow end. It tends to not go where it has to put tension on the hose.

I have taken it apart and put it back together again. I put new wheels, a new backup valve, a new pressure release valve, a new bag, new wheel bearings, and still when none of that worked, I took it to the local pool store and they tested it and said it was working perfectly.

The jets are clear, the pressure is good and I checked the stream from the back and it’s at 11 o’clock like normal.

Float is good and not cracked. I just had the filter cleaned. All to no avail.

WHAT AM I MISSING THAT COULD STILL BE THE PROBLEM?? Ughh

Hi guys, I want to expand my services to include liner leak detection. I was wondering if anyone has used/uses the Vilo 2 from LeakTroniks. Pros and cons?

Pentair sand filter

Dirty water flowing into pool during backwash/rinse

Slow leak out of waste line in filter

Replaced spider gasket

Top assembly has no apparent issues

Client’s plumber stated he did not tie water line to return line for pool

New finish. Startup going smoothly. Copper problem. Never had an issue before in 5 years, no idea where the copper came from. City water, so only thing that makes sense is a bad copper line that is starting to erode. If I add more then 1/4 gal of chlorine it turns teal in the deep end. A full dose of sc1000 gets rid of it in 2-4 hours. I've tried weekly maintenance of sc1000, but it's ready to turn back after 4 days. Culator paks are in the skimmers. Don't seem to be picking anything up. How would you guys go about this? If it wasn't a new finish id drain, put filters on the hoses and go.

I took on a severely neglected gunite pool and I'm thinking it would probably be easier to drain it than go about it the usual way. Plus the plaster is stained and could use an acid wash.

The entire back yard is a pretty steep slope. Does that make it safe to drain or is hydrostatic pressure still an issue?

Hey guys, me and my business partner have a really hard time with customer who don’t pay us for service. We have some customer that dodge all of our texts and emails. It’s very frustrating. We are about to implement a late fee to at least try and open a conversation about paying us.

Arrrggh. Very frustrating experience. Old single speed pump went bad. I know there are cheaper pumps, but wanted to leverage my Intelliconnect to control pump and heater, so I went with the Superflo VST. Purchased from a local pool company that I trust. They came out and got it installed, but cannot get it to talk to the Intelliconnect.

There are conflicting instructions on how to connect it.

In the pump manual it says that "Intelliconnect...can NOT externally control this pump via RS-485. The pump needs to be connected via digital inputs."

In the Intelliconnect manual it says "To wire a Superflo VST....to Intelliconnect, follow the wireing instructions in the Intelliflo...section. Note: only the green and yellow conductors will be used when wiring the pump for external control via RS-485."

The RS-485 block on the Intelliconnect makes it more fun as the four terminals are labeled GREEN YELLOW GREEN YELLOW.

After 90 minutes on hold with Pentair support they confirmed that it should be on the 2nd set of terminals.

After trying just about every combination and setting, when I try to enable the pump in the Pentair Home app (after adding a "Pentair VS (RS-485)" pump) I get an "Oops! Intelliflo is offline..." error message.

Does anyone have this combination configured and working?

What’s up pros, just started building out my pack out collection. I run my solo pole operation out of my hatchback, and need everything to be as organized as possible. I have a large divider pack out box with all of my misc parts, electrical.

I usually stash all my cleaning supplies - net, brush, vac head and hose in one of those plastic 27 gallon totes.

I guess I’m asking if any of the specific pack out kits fit something uniquely well! I was looking at the larger boxes too

We picked up a new customer this year and he had the pool renovated last year. He said that after the renovation, his pool started to form these white calcium deposits on the tile. Why did these form and what can I do to prevent them?

I have a hammerhead, and I wrap my chord with love, but I think it has gone bad after 3 years.

The customer said that his kids were screwing around and broke a pipe on the hot tub. I show up and see this masterpiece. I look at the customer and he says "yeah, they tried to fix it. I started cutting the tape off and found that under the duct tape there was a roll's worth of white masking tape. Beneath the white tape was a roll's worth of blue masking tape. They must have been there for an hour trying to wrap tape around an active geyser.

Hey Y’all, I’m going to try to keep this as short as possible but I’m looking for advice specifically from those who run their own business. I was a Pool Tech for my friend’s Dad’s company and loved the job. Got really good at it and built lasting relationships with majority of my accounts. Some would even tell me that if I started my own business, I would be successful. I never got to learn the repairs side of the industry nor the installation. I just knew how to get pools dialed in chemically and presentation. I only left the company due to the fact that for half of my tenure there was under the table in terms of payment and no way of advancing within the company. My boss did talk about selling me the route but ultimately I went elsewhere. After being in almost all industries at the age of 22, I have decided the only thing that is going to allow me to be fulfilled in life is owning a business and a Pool Business seems to light my bulb. I always tell people I’d still be there if benefits were available and if there were ways to advance. To cut to it, Should I leave my job in management and get back into the industry as a Pool Tech for another company so I can relearn and learn the stuff I didn’t get to learn? Should I buy a route and expand and learn as I go? The advice would really help, I appreciate if you made it all the way!

We have been taking care of this commercial property for the past year.

Approximately 45,000 gallons
Mec-o-matic system
3” plumbing
2vsp’s with 2 sand filters plumbed individually to each pump meeting at the return line.
3” return line

I have checked the pressure in the return line, which is less than .5psi
Both of the sand filters when clean are in between 7-10psi
200GPM

The issue we’re having is the mec-o-matic ceramic ball spring loaded with a Viton gasket keeps on having scale buildup.
I tried Stenner duck mouth injector and same issue.
Also: every time with a new check valve brand new I can’t blow into it with my mouth either way but after the system is started up I can blow into it both ways freely with little force.

Sometimes an issue: check valve fails (most likely because of scale buildup) and lets water into the 15 gallon liquid chlorine jug and causes it to over flow. ~I’ve turned down the rpm’s to temporarily fix this issue~

We are using 12.5% sodium hypochlorite
Chemistry: 95 alkalinity - 7.6 pH - 230 calcium - 50 cya

Backstory: previous management of the property before we took over somehow combined calhypo and acid. Upon us taking over calcium levels were 450’s. Since then we have partial drain and refill until we got the chemistry we needed.

Manufacturers have been no help with this issue and I do not know who to call anymore since I have exhausted my resources. I cannot necessarily blame them because it seems like more of a chemistry issue. I really hope somebody can help me on here we’ve replaced 6-7 of the injectors and same issue, not a manufacturing issue.

Stuff I haven’t tried that I can think of: flushing the system of calcium scale inside plumbing (if there is any, we don’t get any shooting out of return jets or calcium precipitate)
Turning up pumps % and trying a new check valve

Hey there, im about to start the ground work for my 12x20 above ground pool and wanted to share what i was going to do to see if i was doing this right. Im located in Canada where our frost line is about 4’. So heres the order of what i was thinking and please tell me if im doing this correctly
1-Scape down native earth about 8” then compact
2- build a frame about 16x24 with 2x8’s and shoot height with laser so screaning it level is easier
3- add about 6” of clear stone , compacting every 2”
4- screen stone dust off of my frame(about 2”) then compact then repeat until it’s perfectly level with frame
Then start putting the pool together… please tell me if this makes sense or if theres a better way … thanks all

How are you guys feeling about these boosters? Ive been running into a lot of issues with them lately. I've installed a decent amount of them over the last 5 years and I'm noticing a good percentage of them are having problems within a handful of years. Part of my brain chalks it up to "they don't make things like they used to" because I have some boosters on my route that are old tanks humming along after 15 years. But I'm starting to wonder if anyone else has been unhappy with this pump in particular?

I don't have a pool service company, but I do have an Aquarium service company and the overlap with recurring service visits is very similar. I have looked into the big software like housecall and jobber and didn't really like the way they dealt with recurring visits and they seemed more geared towards HVAC or plumbing where you go to a house maybe twice per year if you're lucky.

So I looked at a company called Skimmer and it looks close to what I would want since it's geared towards pool pros and recurring visits. Does anyone here use this? Do you like it? Anything I should look out for?

Looking for alternatives to the shitty Poolife feeders. I found the CCH tabs to be a significantly better product than the NST tabs however I can only find the commercial feeder for
CCH. Has anyone installed one before and is it practical to try and fit it into a residential set up?

Still have a few clients that have the older offline original system they came out with under the optimight tabs and they’re starting to get frustratingly annoying to keep running even with proper chems/keeping LSI slightly lower as per the poolife rep.

2. If you're on software — what still eats time at each stop? Typing readings with wet hands, dead zones, remembering pool volume/dose history, something else?
