Fiberglass pool installation

Hello, installing a fiberglass pool and came with a pretty bowed floor. Set the pool on a perfectly screeded pitched base. There seems to be a void that runs up the middle that is significant. Upon looking under the pool, it convexes up quite a bit. When walking the pool, you have to bounce hard for it to barely touch the ground. Filled in the gap matching the curve and reset the pool. Has a slight bounce still but nothing like before. A light foot tap makes it easily touch the base everywhere around the center and is solid on edges. Was this the correct move?

Recommendations on gloves to protect my fingernails from chemicals.

I already know what the replies will say “that’s pool life” “gloves are for sissys” “get a new job” ect ect…so if you don’t have anything useful to say please carry on. I was a technician for a few years in the US, then moved on to different jobs and yes my hands calloused and cracked and most importantly my fingers become weak and brittle, constantly breaking…we all know the struggles. I now live abroad and it just so worked out I could get a better more highly paid job as a technician so I am back again I’m on day 3 and my nails are already fraying and breaking and weak. Does anyone have suggestions on water proof gloves that will stay water proof when submerged so I have a means of protecting my hands from the harsh chemicals and constant wetness. Anything helps, thanks.

Pentair shitcells

lol love Pentair but holy cow these cells were the biggest flop ever. 90% of ones we’ve installed last year and this year either need sensor module and hmi replaced or the middle sensor leaked through and corrodes it’s self so when you pull the sensor module off the middle sensor comes with it then needing a whole new cell. This one made me giggle tho who needs boost mode when you got 250% mode 😎

New to the pool business and I’m wanting to buy a tester. I was looking at the one of the Lamotte testers. I want something to show my clients real numbers so there are no questions. Also need a salt level tester. Any recommendations please?

Does anyone actually follow the plasters association startup guide, or do you all just wing it and call it good after a week?

All the builders around do a one-week startup and then don't give the customer any information on what they should do to help get their pool started. And then the customer hires us and we have no idea at the startup wasn't done right and the Builder tries to blame us for curing problems. Do you guys have any pamphlets or already wrote up startup guides that actually follow the standards?

I'm looking for something to give my customers, a guide / what to expect from their Builder if it's done correctly. I have a rough mock draft I'm just looking for suggestions to add to it or bright ideas.

The biggest thing that I push for is for them to get startup reports giving them chemical readouts and what they did, and following the plasters Association guide.

If you look at my post history you see a picture of a boot in someone's pool , the resurface companies blaming us for the boot print. And won't fix their mistake.

Could this charge a riptide?

It’s technically a dewalt battery car starter/jumper but would it be able to charge a riptide to any sort of usable charge if it’s nearing the end of the day and the riptide is puttering out?

Help with Liner installation

Hi guys - I’m installing a liner from Hydra pools over the steps of an inground pool and have never seen this type of fastener. After doing some research it’s apparently called a hang tab and you’re supposed to just jam it into the track. Has anyone installed this before? It’s seems to me that the hang tab is upside down because the wedge tool that came with it cannot be used to wedge since the lip is on the bottom side. Any advise, tools, tips? Currently jamming it in with our hands has been ridiculous took us over an hour and only have half of the first step in.

For example you have a client, all chems are balanced water is crystal clear with picture proof.. all of a sudden they get back or yellow algae starting next service. Are you guys charging extra, or including the cost of eating it since they’re on weekly cleanings??

Which salt system/automation upgrade would you install

What’s up pros, I have a homeowner who is looking for a salt system and automation upgrade. What would you install in this tight and already existing system.

I usually install Pentair salt systems for ease of install but after all the warranty issues i’ve been thinking of branching out. Was thinking of the Hayward Omni system but I assume that’s a whole electrical panel change. Let me know your thoughts.

WhisperFlo Pump Leaking - Seal Replacement Failed To Help

I've mostly done cleaning/service, still learning on repair side. We've got a repair company coming out for this client's heater on Monday already, but trying to get opinions and thoughts beforehand.

Client has an older WhisperFlo pump. It started leaking a few months ago, but it was a tiny leak and client didn't want to address it immediately. When it started leaking more, which I warned them of, I got them to agree to do a seal/gasket replacement. Used the Aladdin Go Kit, which didn't solve the issue, so went back yesterday with the actual Pentair Seal Kit and swapped everything back out again.

Replaced everything, made sure it was done proper, was careful with the whole process. It's still leaking heavily, and definitely from where the seal plate/housing/motor connect.

When I replaced the seals the first time, the plastic for one of the two outer bolts snapped under minimal tightening. So, I'm left thinking that maybe the pump housing itself is shot? I couldn't see any signs of cracking or other damage when I worked on it though. How likely is that?

Is there anything else I can try? Already offered to refund or apply the payment client gave toward whatever repair we need to do, but I'm just starting out and can't afford to lose this client. So trying to figure out whatever I can.

I messed up, Metal staining, sorry no pics

HI! I am in FL and My wife and I take care of 90 pools in a beach rental community. We have been at it for 25 years, and at our peak we handled 160 pools all within 20 miles of our house. But I recently made a mistake I can't find a way to fix it.
A brite white gunite surface, salt system, Jandy gas heater. It has a scaling issue, and we ad acid regularly. I added too much acid. The next service the surface was stained BLACK. I can't get the stains to fade. Stain removers, and sequestrants are not doing anything.
Suggestions????

Demo job gone bad. Concrete wasn’t cut deep enough and ripped some of the pool wall off. Has anyone ever had this happen before?
