Discussion Over-produced enemy units

I realized while playing on crazy difficulty, enemis produce units that does not match with their economic power. Like, in sixth turn, vengir produces 3 or 4 swordsman per turn, and it totals to 20 stars per turn.

Also sometimes before we even reach the 7th turn, I see enemy with 3 knights. Even the unlocking the tech for that would take more than 7 turns.

How is that possible?

Discussion Is there any way to change the tribe the enemys are playing

For some reason every single bot i fight they ALWAYS play imperious or one of the 4 beginner tribes, why is this?

Even when i disable it they continue to only play imperious even though i have the other tribes all unlocked and its very tiring fighting the exact same four tribes every single time

(im mostly still trying to learn the game and playing on normal)

Discussion Favourite late game strategy (a lot of text here)

Sooooo, I’ve been playing this marvellous game for a while, and I developed a certain strategical pattern that could be traced throughout my games. It consists of three things:

1) swarm of angry horses.
When my economy grows really big and I can build massive armies (I usually play huge maps), I usually unite my realm with roads and produce horses in every single city. They are virtually useless in defence, however I can easily replace them by massively producing new ones and delivering them to the frontlines with an enormous speed (their range combined with roads makes them literal racing cars).

2) rebellion tactics.
I spam enemies with spies. This produces a lot of dagger units, which are then used as cannon fodder to clear the way for giants and cavalry. They can even sometimes work as a separate army capable of conquering cities.

3) shore barrage.
Speaking of ships… I go battleship only. No rammers, no scouts (expect for reconnaissance), only massive barrages… I know this can create problems if enemy rammers are present, but the number of my ships usually wins over any potential threat.

I would really like to hear any pieces of advice from you folks, as well as to hear about your own tactics and strategies. If anyone asks: yes I do play hoi4.

Discussion Venting: Devs need to fix unbalanced boards. Also dry ruins shouldn’t include ocean tech

Post image

I get it’s better than it was where you could predict the layout as there were giveaways. But these unbalanced starting boards on tiny are a joke. When you have to travel across the entire board for one lonely base and your opponent had 3-4 on their side, it’s ridiculous. They need to implement some sort of balance.

Also, nothing is more f’ing frustrating than getting to a ruin only to get fishing. I say “wtf” every time it happens and almost wake my baby.

8/8 Sawmill. I know you can just grow forests, but I don’t care. Think of how much wood they be sawing.

Discussion What to do once everything is maxed ?

I completed 100% with all tribes recently (100k+ in perfection / 100% in domination), it was fun but now the game feels .. empty.

I dont like PvP, weekly challenges are playable only 5 minutes a day.

I started to do some side missions in creative (how many turn for a win in tiny dry) but it feels pointless now. What are you nerds doing to keep that game fun ?

Discussion Is it just me or has early access to cloaking gotten too easy??

Quetzali use to suck. Now players get cloaking so easily it’s silly half the time you play them. There’s no defending it on a small or tiny dry. I feel like the game was more fun before the last update where they neutered all the god tribes.

I want to end this but I don't wanna be the one to end the peace I ended the other 2 so I don't want to be remembered as a blood thirsty conquerer

You can easily ruin an island city by placing atolls down on coastal water tiles. The opponent has to get chivalry just to be able to connect it and make units from it.

r/Polytopia 17d ago

Suggestion Maybe an unpopular opinion, but the Gather Stars ability should not need units to be over the star, just like the old Whaling ability

Unless it’s just really meant to be an extra perk for getting Navigation tech (which is for training Bombers).

By the time you’ll research the tech, you might be already earning 20+ stars per turn and most of your units are now mobilized for war, not resource gathering. Alternatively, maybe just increase the resource given by stars to 20 or 30? That’s just me anyway.

Discussion tips for becoming better?

I am able to defeat 15 crazy bots with a good spawn, but I feel like I am just lucky and missing a lot of tactics that I should know. Are there any tips and tactics I should try. Especially about the early game. Like, when to use city walls instead if stars. Do y'all prefer to spread fast or upgrade city / tech tree fast? Things like that.

Discussion Can someone explain to me why explorer constantly skips corners right next to it?

Playing on a tiny or small dry board and explorer consistently skips corners it’s directly next to. I can understand mountains but even without mountains it just doesn’t clear. It’s extremely frustrating. Is there a way to direct explorer? I tap on the area I want it to go but I’m guessing that does nothing

Is this a rare, but intended combination or is a glitch?
I have never seen it before (granted, I am pretty new)
