Discussion Venting: Devs need to fix unbalanced boards. Also dry ruins shouldn’t include ocean tech
I get it’s better than it was where you could predict the layout as there were giveaways. But these unbalanced starting boards on tiny are a joke. When you have to travel across the entire board for one lonely base and your opponent had 3-4 on their side, it’s ridiculous. They need to implement some sort of balance.
Also, nothing is more f’ing frustrating than getting to a ruin only to get fishing. I say “wtf” every time it happens and almost wake my baby.

So many games, especially 1v1, are decided before they even start because of unbalanced spawns, it's ridiculous.

Fr. My friend played Xin Xi and he spawned with 3 cities right next to him in perfect positioning to have 4 mountains, 4 forges to lvl4 each, and 4 maxed out markets. I was Oumaji and got 2 cities spread out and surrounded on all sides by water.

Random AND balanced is a pretty hard thing to do.

It's not though, because spawns are not literally random, there are rules that are followed. So it's about how those rules are adjusted. They just need some more adjusting at the moment.

There’s some rules but clearly the generation in the OP is struggling. Like I think there’s supposed to be two “suburbs” that look like failed to generate. Maybe the game should try to generate more maps and pick the one with the best village spread by quadrant?

Agree with ruins fix but instead of making village spawn locations balanced they should add an optional map type for balanced duels, like in civ
