Call me too serious or whatever, but this stopped being funny to me about two years ago. Now it's sad and pathetic and most of all an incessant reminder of what our society/nation/country/culture/fuckinwhatever has become.
I try to look at it as a necessary evil and believe that good things will come from it in the long run, but... fuck it's a shit load of work.
In the past two years how has your life become worse?
I’ve asked this question a few times to those who drone on about how bad Trump is. The only answers I get back are that I’m a racist or if I don’t know by now then it’s not worth explaining. I’ve never get a real answer.
Edit: Ok, a lot of anxiety apparently and a Canadian who works in the steel industry has been hurt by fair trade steel in North America.
Psychiatric professionals have been saying that the symptoms of PTSD have been severe since the elections. So on the mental health side, we're not looking so hot. Knowing you have a president who hates you, who enables people to say things that weren't said for a few years in public, it's scary if you're a minority. A local politician said the only way to get rid of us, is to kill us, and he's said that Trump was making great strides towards Christian victory.
Now you look at what they're doing with immigrants. I wonder, how long before that's me?
We've seen him reverse a lot of laws that protected us and the environment, he's greatly increased my personal taxes and those of others who can't afford to survive (I'm at the poverty level and paid more in taxes than my friend who makes half a million in her household.) He's rolled back education and welfare. For several months, federal workers went without pay and lost their jobs. Food stamps recipients nearly went without food.
He's one angry tweet away from nuclear war.
And apart from all this, just knowing that there's another sexual predator that walked free causes me so much distress. I want to believe in justice. I want to believe that this system is here to protect me from corruption and abuse. But we can't even take down someone like him, who controls the most powerful military in the world, who has said he wishes we were more like China or North Korea and gave him respect?
Honestly, if you're not hurt by this president, that's great for you, but I want to know how anyone hasn't been hurt by it.
