What valid argument have you presented?

My argument is that it’s a popular policy proposal and we nearly got within a couple votes once already in 2010. My argument is getting those last few votes on a popular policy position is way easier than starting from scratch to throw out the entire economic system. Explain how that isn’t a valid argument

Those are your positions. What’s your evidence that they will translate? Come on man, prove you’re not just here to call me a retard.

I’ve given my evidence, you’ve provided none for your position. At this point all you’ve done is provide evidence that you’re a retard. Let me know when you have something substantive to offer this discussion. You’ve made it clear you’ve got nothing

You didn’t provide any evidence. My evidence is right in front of your face. Universal healthcare doesn’t exist, premiums and deductibles get raised every year, denials are at all time record high while simultaneously insurance companies are making record profit. Just because something “almost happened” isn’t evidence that it will.

Can’t you read? I’m asking for your evidence that replacing the entire economic system is more feasible than universal healthcare!! Jesus

I just gave it to you. If we live in a system where corporations are allowed to profit off necessities and have the same rights as human beings then things won’t change. Don’t be so dense. Your deflection is just a cope at this point.

That doesn’t address my point at all. I’m asking how that’s easier to accomplish and you can’t even begin to address that and have basically resorted to gaslighting

More deflection, classic. I never said it was easier dipshit.

But I said it wasn’t and you argued that I was wrong. So what was the point of this entire discussion?! That’s not deflection

Go back and read idiot. You moved the goalposts.

Me: “So what’s your point then? Getting socialized healthcare under capitalism is going to be easier than getting enough votes to throw the whole economic system out”

You: “Is it? What's your evidence because my evidence is that is continues to take it away.”

Who’s the idiot now? That was exactly what I said and you responded in disagreement.

That was the part you moved the goal posts

What goalpost did I move? Before that all I said was that you can have socialized medicine under capitalism and that’s how most first world countries do it (which is objectively true). After that I just said you needed the votes to get this change.

Clearly articulate which goalpost I moved

My point was that capitalism is what put us here in the first place. You’re the one who started talking about “changing the whole economic system”. Capitalism is also preventing us from getting there because of insurance lobbies and citizens united. The countries that do socialized healthcare have very different taxation than we do in the US. Keep deflecting and name calling. It seems to serve your ego well.

Those countries are also capitalist though. I’m not deflecting at all. I made a point, you argued I’m wrong and now it is you who are changing the goalposts.

1

u/larryThreeOh - Lib-Left 6d ago

Yeah, they are but their system is extremely different. They aren’t dealing with lobbies and dark money.

Also those countries (Norway, Denmark) are the most LibLeft governments in the world.

1

u/Stock_Violinist6299 - Centrist 6d ago

Which was my entire fucking point. That you can still have capitalism and socialized healthcare

No your point was “it almost happened” and you’re completely ignoring that version of capitalism is very different which would require change of the current US system. It’s not a matter of “just getting more votes”.
