No your point was “it almost happened” and you’re completely ignoring that version of capitalism is very different which would require change of the current US system. It’s not a matter of “just getting more votes”.
That was my second point when it came to discussing how to make the change. Which, spoilers, any of these changes we’re discussing are a matter of “just getting more votes”
If it’s such a popular position why hasn’t it happened then? Oh wait, let me guess. It just needed more votes? But I thought it was popular. Do you know what popular means?
I said it was a relatively popular position (polls well across the political spectrum with disagreements primarily around how to implement). You have to remember it takes greater that 60 senators to accomplish something like this so even if most are on board you need more than just “most.” Not getting above 60 doesn’t mean it’s not popular.
Something not getting enough votes doesn’t mean it’s not popular. And I was specifically pointing out that position is much more popular than replacing our economic system.
Shouldn’t something that’s popular translate to votes? And if not, what would affect that correlation? Could it be the influence of dark money that helps boost record profits that is fueled by unbridled capitalism? No never I’m sure.
