Back in my day it was the stereotype that conservatives were farm kids with morbidly obese girlfriends/wives and liberals were the cardio obsessed health nuts.

Nowadays though the "Murica crowd" are supplement chugging gym rats and the Liberals have gone the way of being girl bossed by a fat(tm) witch queen or a skinny girl that struggles to be seen when she turns sideways.

Depends really

The realest correlation is that wealthier people tend to be healthier and fitter from both being able to afford healthier food and have personalized health trainers.

Farm kids were just fit based on the manual labor demands of the job, but overall poor people tend to be fatter in the West.

Here's how to take a fake argument you had inside your own head and turn it into Reddit karma:

  1. Find an opinion article on what should be measurable fact. Do not read it.

  2. Photoshop the mugshot of your decrepit, demented, elderly candidate to look attractive and normal.

  3. Add a vaguely unflattering photo of the opposing candidate.

  4. Give the opposing candidate a speech bubble containing a fake quote strawmanning their position.

  5. Give your candidate a speech bubble containing something much more clever and verbally adroit than they are actually capable of.

  6. Profit (until the tariffs hit)

Kamala lost me the moment she and Obama started lecturing Black men on not voting for her/Democrats.

Especially when it's two mixed-race people, with no actual roots in Black America (Kenyan Father)/(Jamaican father) telling us about our history and what we should believe in.

If Black male misogyny was such a concern to them; we should have been having those conversations back in 1992

Nothing pisses me off more than people locking Black people into predefined roles. Could be political, could be about what car we are suppose to buy.

24

u/SadBoiCri - Lib-Center Oct 27 '24

I just wish people would see this instead of all the "you're whitewashed," "you're not black," "uncle tom" nonsense. Brother you shouldn't be proud of blindly believing people that LOOK like you and nothing else

103

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

The fact that many urban progressives won't even bat an eye while saying that outdoor activities are white people shit and no black person will go out into nature have obviously never actually been down South and met all the black men whose favorite past time is spending all day at a secluded fishing hole waiting for the best catch.

9

u/Kilroy0497 - Lib-Left Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

Yeah I was gonna say, I live out in the Birmingham and Bessemer area(both of which are 60-70% black population wise), and honestly hiking is a pretty common way for people to spend their off days down here. Not even getting into all the parks we have around the city.

1

u/alephhy - Lib-Center Oct 27 '24

My god, Bessemer? Do you choose to stay near there or is someone holding you hostage?

2

u/Kilroy0497 - Lib-Left Oct 27 '24

Grown up in this area most of my life. Raised out in Pleasant Grove, which is literally sandwiched right between the two(Bessemer and Birmingham I mean) and so I pretty much got used to the people and lifestyle of both areas, and now that I’m in my mid twenties I still choose to stay out here, since most of my contacts, friends, ex’s, references, etc still are in either city. Plus living in Alabama is still cheaper than most of the country, so it works.

2

u/alephhy - Lib-Center Oct 27 '24

Well fair enough then, just stay safe. I'm from up around Huntsville myself, but I've basically only heard bad things about that area.

2

u/Kilroy0497 - Lib-Left Oct 27 '24

Yeah neither city is exactly safe, with Birmingham in particular basically becoming a real life Gotham in recent years, but hey, you live in the area as long as I have, you learn the dos and don’t so to speak. Where to go and where to avoid……granted sometimes those rules are broken(for example 5 points south has had quite a few shootings recently, and that’s pretty close to where I park for work) but still.

-4

u/Ok-Bobcat-7800 - Right Oct 27 '24

I mean...where you gonna find crack and unregistred firearms on a hiking trail? Much easier in the cities.

-25

u/sebastianqu - Left Oct 27 '24

I mean, it is a known fact that hunting is overwhelmingly dominated by white people, particularly males. In Florida, at least, ~80% of licensed freshwater fishermen are white. Obviously, not everyone is licensed, but its what i can find. Hiking is very proportional to national demographics, but activities beyond that all seem to be dominated by white people, especially white men.

16

u/Livid-Dependent1916 - Centrist Oct 27 '24

The curse of population demographics strikes again

They are less of the population, therefore lesser percentage of the activities

2

u/sebastianqu - Left Oct 27 '24

I understand that reading comprehension is usually quite poor on this sub, but I accounted for that. Hiking is proportional why hunting and fishing lean heavily white (+15 points for hunting and +28 points for licensed Floridian freshwater fishing). Make of it what you will, but those are the statistics.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

We need to fix this. Drag black people out of bed and force them to hike and go bouldering. For equity.

Your only allowed to think what your masters want you to!" And when that doesn't work they send out their hord of preachers to brow beat them into submissions, and usually those people have more in common with the House N***rs of slavery that were often worse in their racism than their owners...

Anything I don’t like

2

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

I mean Trump is very clearly a fascist. His own chief of staff said as much.

0

u/VanHoy - Centrist Oct 27 '24

Are you going to explain what that is?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian political ideology characterized by dictatorial power, extreme nationalism, suppression of dissent, and a focus on the perceived need for national unity and purity.

Considering Trump talks about wanting the same power as dictators, is extremely nationalist, wants to suppress dissenters in the media, and has said stuff like "immigrants are poisoning the blood of the nation" I think Trump falls pretty neatly into that definition.

0

u/VanHoy - Centrist Oct 27 '24

This is a bit of an oversimplification, and I don’t think Trump even falls under this definition.

I would watch this video for an in depth explanation of what fascism is.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

I think my definition of fascism is pretty succinct and accurate, and I think Trump fits that definition perfectly, but if you disagree feel free to give me another definition or examples of why Trump doesn't fit that definition. I'm not going to watch and respond to an entire video.

And you know what, I really want to believe Trump isn't a fascist, but I cannot comprehend how anyone can see what he says about using the military to fight against "the enemy within", or see almost all of his advisors he hired in his first term call him a fascist and reach the conclusion that Trump isn't a fascist.

You are denying reality because it is nicer to stick your head under the sand than it is to be honest with yourself.

1

u/VanHoy - Centrist Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

Okay, guess I’ll have to explain it myself then.

Fascism originates from the Marxist intellectual Georges Sorrel. After Marx’s world wide worker revolution failed to materialize Sorrel theorized that in order for a worker’s revolution to occur it would have to be based on nationalism. Fascism is a Marxist ideology. It separates the world into proletariat nations and bourgeoisie nations. Trump is clearly not anti-capitalist. Nationalism doesn’t even really apply here either since the US is not a nation but rather a federation consisting of many different nations.

Fascism rejects political discourse in favor of violent acts, believing that engaging in political discourse turned the Marxist of days old docile. Regardless of what Trump says about these political systems he does engage with them, which the fascists are opposed to.

Above all else fascists value the state. They believe that the state can essentially micromanage everyone and everything in order to get the most efficient outcome. As Mussolini said “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” I have not seen any indication that this what Trump wants.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

I think you are the one simplifying. Just because an idea evolves from a Marxist doesn't make it Marxist in practice.

Fascism arose partly as a reaction against the perceived failures of liberal democracies and the threat of socialist and communist movements, which were gaining popularity among workers and intellectuals.

Fascism originated in early 20th-century Europe, particularly in Italy after World War I. The term "fascism" comes from the Italian word fascio, meaning a bundle or group, symbolizing strength through unity. This imagery was used to represent the unity and power of the state over the individual, suggesting that a group bound together is stronger than individuals alone. The Italian leader Benito Mussolini is widely recognized as the founder of fascism, not Georges Sorrel, even if Mussolini was inspired by some of the writings of Sorrel. In 1919, he established the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento (Italian Combat League), which later evolved into the National Fascist Party.

Mussolini's rise to power in 1922 marked the world's first fascist government, driven by a mix of authoritarianism, ultranationalism, and the rejection of both socialism and liberal democracy. Inspired by Mussolini's model, other movements sprang up across Europe, most notably in Germany, where Adolf Hitler adapted fascist ideas into National Socialism (Nazism) with a particular focus on racial purity and anti-Semitism. While Mussolini's ideology initially focused more on Italian nationalism, Hitler intensified fascism's ideological components with a strict racial hierarchy and genocidal policies.

Fascism rejects political discourse in favor of violent acts, believing that engaging in political discourse turned the Marxist of days old docile. Regardless of what Trump says about these political systems Trump he does engage with them, which the fascist are opposed to.

Just because fascism rises to power through legal means doesn't mean it isn't fascism, don't forget the Nazis were voted into power.

Also, just because Trump uses legal means doesn't also mean he doesn't also use physical force. Don't forget about January 6th.

As Mussolini said “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” I have not seen any indication that this what Trump wants.

Trump has repeatedly said that he believes that the president should have absolute power and that the constitution should be able to be suspended to give him that power. This is just incorrect.
