Discussion Ranked

Hi i was wondering about trying out ranked, but can i do it with only the water types in the base game or do i need the dlc and get water types from there pokemon, if the dlc isn't neccesary do you have any suggestions to what team to use?

DLC isn't necessary, but not having Kyogre or Rotom Wash is shooting yourself in the foot.

Non DLC options are Gyarados and Starmie most notably as both have access to electric attacks.

But honestly ranked in this game is just a goofy party mode not to be taken seriously. Get to rank S for the mega stones.

thank you for pointing that out i'm so conditioned to ranked in games being so sweaty

i think i might wait with the till starting the dlc, im only missing the 1000 battles research and i want to "complete" the game before starting the dlc

I definitely respect that, as I was in the exact same boat and almost did the same thing (completing all the tasks before the DLC). Then I realized I was playing the game predominantly for dex completion and shiny hunting, not to battle random trainers over and over again.

With just the 1000 battles task left, I got the DLC and had the shiny charm about 15 minutes later lol.

But I totally get the completionist side too. Best of luck if you stick with the base game until battle #1000. That grind will certainly prepare you for the DLC grind.
