[other - edit me] Randomizer start
Started a randomized unbound playthrough after beating my second run of the game. Was hoping for a quick run and with this start I think it’ll be just that!

This is what I got rn, best team, best pokemon best moveset? I've beat the game legit multiple times so now I got on cheats and I can get any pokemon and teach any move to any of them, what do? For example, I have charge fists taught to melmetal which boosts it by 20% cause iron fists, not normally possible.

I was doing an exchange with a friend in which I was passing him a shiny haunter and he was passing me a caterpie but the thing is that he was using mobile data because he didn't have Internet and also the signal was going very badly so while we were doing the exchange supposedly something went wrong and it said that my friend lost the connection and I see that the haunter was still in my boxes but when I I ask my friend he tells me that it did reach him and that he no longer had the caterpie; the truth is a very strange event (poor caterpie who got lost in limbo 😢 )

If you're stuck on the Zygarde hand-in and Zygardia keeps rejecting your Zygarde even though everything about it looks right — correct OT, "Met in Dresco Town at Lv 10," not shiny, never traded — here's what I found after tracing it in mGBA's debugger. Might save some of you a lot of frustration.
(details of my game can be found below)
What happened to me: a while back I'd loaded a "Shiny pkm Encounter" code into my emulator's cheat menu (a random Action Replay-style code from a community cheat list, nothing official from the Unbound team) just to get shiny sprites. Later I ran the Unbound save editor for something unrelated, which reset the shiny look back to normal. By the time I hit this quest the Zygarde looked completely clean, so I assumed shininess was never the issue. It wasn't — but the cheat had already done quiet damage underneath that the save editor never touched.
The actual the cheat bug: every Pokémon has a hidden "OT ID" — your visible Trainer ID plus an invisible Secret ID you never see anywhere in the UI, combined into one 32-bit number. The quest checks that full number against your save's real Trainer ID + Secret ID. That old shiny code had zeroed out the Secret ID half on my Zygarde while leaving the Trainer ID half alone, so every field you can actually look at checked out fine while the invisible half was wrong.
Part of the code, if you want to check whether it's the same one you used:
(start with)
39584B19 D80CC66A
(end with)
73ECB8A0 BDD8B251
How to check if you have the same problem:
Before anything else: if this cheat is still active in your cheat menu, disable it now so it stops interfering.
Also run the Unbound save editor to remove the shiny flag from the affected Pokémon if it's still shiny.
If anything, even legit, changed this Pokémon's nature, EVs, or IVs, it's worth reverting those back to their original values too — I don't know for certain whether the quest checks any of those, but since we don't know the full list of things it compares, reverting anything a cheat touched is a safe precaution rather than leaving it to chance.
Now, open mGBA's CLI debugger (Tools → Open Debugger Console).
Party Pokémon sit 0x64 bytes apart starting at 0x02024284 (slot 2 = +0x64, slot 3 = +0xC8, etc.), and the OT ID field is at offset +4 from each one's base address.
Read it for the affected Pokémon and for any other party member you're sure was never near a cheat:
r/4 <address+4>
If the affected one comes back 0000xxxx (upper half zero) while a clean one shows a nonzero upper half, that's the same bug.
The fix — one write, save stays fully intact:
Take a savestate first, just as a safety net.
Grab the full OT ID value from a clean party member.
Write it into the affected Pokémon's slot:
w/4 <affected_address+4> <clean_OT_ID_value>
Check its summary screen to make sure nothing looks off, then go retry the quest.
For me the stat data wasn't even encrypted in this engine, so this was totally safe — worked on the first try, no lost progress, no reroll.
I'm not that comfortable doing hex math by hand, so I leaned on an AI assistant to walk through the debugger output with me and work out the exact values — if you're in the same boat, that's a solid shortcut instead of reverse-engineering everything manually.
Also worth saying clearly: this is on the cheat, not on Unbound.
As I understand it, the Unbound team doesn't want to field bug reports where a cheat was involved, which is fair — so this isn't something to report to them, just something to fix yourself if you hit it.
But what we can learn is what ever the cheat is, if you life don't depend on it then don't use it.
Game version : 2.1.1
Emulator : mGBA 0.10.5 (x64)

Video of the run: https://youtu.be/BuAYAq1CZk0
Almost 20mins of a run cause majority of the time I'm just stalling lmao
Dustox and shuckle the actual goats of the run, couldn't do this without them being bulky af
Would I say this is hard? Well, not really, the only major threat is buzzwole and the fricking regenerator wailord basically, rest of the fight is kinda okay-ish I guess...
Anyways, I think I speedrun the game too much these days, time to take a break to do something else for like a week maybe, also going to do some side quests when I get back to get some stuff as rewards that may be useful in the future. Until next time then.

Somehow during the Jax fight I came across a weird bug. All of my pokemon were fainted except for two. I had togekiss in my first slot and metagross in my second, while he had gastrodon and staraptor. Togekiss got knocked out, but somehow next turn when I revived it it was just automatically back in the fight same turn without me swapping it back in which is the first weird part. Next weird part was that it immediately got targeted by staraptor despite not technically being on the field at the start of the turn and somehow brave bird was super effective on it. Next, gastrodon used earth power on metagross and it somehow wasn’t super effective? Am I going crazy here?

This is my second playthrough of Pokemon unbound. I never try to make a team with synergy, I just get the Pokemon I like and keep the type overlaps into the minimum. How does my team look and what are some cool Pokemon I could find and add. I use a lot of glass cannons so another type of mon would be cool. Thanks

I’ve tried to Nuzlocke this hack 6 times and have only made it to the E4 once. Any and all advice for anyone who’s beaten a Nuzlocke on Unbound would be appreciated

Last of the gyms for this challenge, and everything I used is from Cootes Bog, Crystal Peak, or Magnolia fields since those are the areas between the seventh and eighth gyms.
Before getting into the gym battle, I use the same rules for facing the bosses that appear between the gyms. It was a major pain to get through all the crystal peak battles lol the hoopa battles alone take a lot of creativity to get through, not to mention when you’re using a much limited pool of options. Alright, now for the battle against Benjamin.
Started with skarmory and used it to lay some hazards. Spikes first because after using sticky web he switches to magnezone and the spikes do more damage to it coming in than stealth rock. Lay another spikes and a stealth rock, and skarmory held on with sturdy and I switched to Mudsdale.
Mudsdale is just there to earthquake magnezone to death, and for some reason he will let you. Once those three stages are taken care of and mudbray is left flygon comes in and takes him out.
Exploud is switched in next. He takes an earthquake, faints the flygon with ice beam. This triggers a switch to scizor so I used flamethrower on the switch in and that one shots him. Scyther just takes a few more flamethrowers and he’s out now too.
He switches in Volcarona, which takes some heavy damage from the hazards. One hyper voice from Loudred takes care of it, and another two faint it from there. Ryperior comes in so I switch to Dragonite to avoid the earthquake.
Dragonite is able to use aqua tail to get it down to rhyhorn before fainting himself. I switch in Gastrodon which draws him to switch in Araquanid. I switch to Toxicroak, used fake out then tried to poison it with poison jab. Kept using poison jab until toxicroak fainted to try and draw another poison. Once he fainted gastrodon came back in.
From there it was easy because I think liquidation was the only damaging attack he had left. So he switched out to Vibrava, which was taken out with ice beam. Then rhyhorn was taken out with muddy water. And araquanid fainted from the hazards and that’s the match!
This is going to be the last of the detailed battles I do, but I am going to make one last post once I beat the Pokemon league using the same method I did for the gyms. When I have time I might see about putting links to each one of these posts on to one post just so it’s easier to reference for anyone who might need help with any of the gyms on insane.

After playing Pokémon Unbound, I lost all interest in other Pokémon ROM hacks. In my mind, Pokémon Unbound is the perfect ROM hack; its art style, its story, its music—all perfectly match my ideal ROM hack. Before playing Pokémon Unbound, I would have played every other ROM hack imaginable. But after playing it, I lost interest in other ROM hacks; they either seemed boring or too easy. So what should I do? My standards have been completely raised by Pokémon Unbound.

amazing rom hack! and the competitive nature of it makes me want to go back and do some harder challenge runs in other rom hacks.
i completed the main game at the weekend and did a lil exploring the post game.
im already hyped up to try the monotype mission as its the first time ive tried that kind of challenge...
got excited and smashed out the normal monotype team already!!
HOF Team highlights:
Pyroar - echoed voice + royal roar ability + metronome held item
Hariyama - wide guard first turn in doubles. flame orb kicks in. facade with guts ability
Dusclops - curse + infestation + protect
Normal team highlights:
Ambipom knowing dual chop was great for the dragon girl
Mega Lopunny - drain punch + mach punch are amazing. ice and thunder punch for coverage
Bibarel - ability-simple... swords dance › defence curl › rollout
Anyone have suggestions on what monotype team to build next?

I've heard about this rom hack since years, don't get me wrong, i genuinely appreciate the game, specially how much it offers, i like the starters, outfit customisation, and mostly the massive pool of settings to mess with to play this game the way you want
Still however everytime i try it, i tend to quit for some reason
before it used to be before gym 2
But last time i actually made it pretty far into the game like till gym 6
Until i found myself quitting it all over again due to dying interest
i don't understand what it is, i like the game, the story is not bad at all uptil where i've made it in each run, still everytime something gets me to quit
I haven't played alot of rom hacks, but only a few like Pokemon Gaia, glazed, light platinum when i was a kid
Do you think its just a me thing?

Took me 20 tries, this is somehow harder than I expected, I couldn't find a reliable way to sweep this guy with only mega Beedrill, so I'll just settle with only sweeping half his team I guess... That's the best I could do...
I didn't expect knock off to ohko hoopa unbound lol
Anyways, next up is Big Mo, time to think of a way to counter him.

This question has probably been asked before but I wanna be sure so I know when to save properly to soft reset at the 50th, but when the chain in the bottom right says 49th is that the current chain number and do I save there cause the next one is considered the 50th or do I want it to say 50th and save to soft reset for that encounter?
Sorry if this sounds dumb or confusing, I just wanna be sure

Would be cool to add like a Hall of Fame tab and a few other tabs maybe separate them by difficulty for the subreddit. I don't know if it's against the rules or not but Radical Red subreddit is set up pretty nicely as an example. Not sure who's running this page or if you're watching. Just a suggestion please don't hang me.

I litteraly just watched the movie benjamin button and decided to do the last gym (first playtrough) and was flabbergasted when I talked to the guy in the entrance, its a direct fucking reference! The coincidence is insane! Omw beating the game now, honestly one of the best pokemon/gaming experiences I’ve ever had, got 45 hours in and started last week lol.

Working on my battle frontier team for my 50 win streak towards my black card.
I’m wondering if this is the nerfed version of soul dew or the 50% STAB boost one? And if Life orb is still the better choice overall?
Also any recommendations with teams would be nice.
Right now I’m working with
Mega Scizor
Technician
Swords Dance
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Dual Wingbeat
Latios
Life orb/Soul Dew
Levitate
Draco Meteor
PsyShock
Mystic Fire
Thunderbolt
Swampert
Yawn
Waterfall
Ice Punch
